And what’s the response like? If you’re alternate picking 12+ notes a second, do all of the notes sound clear? And how’s the response with tapping? A lot of digital tones don’t sound good when tapping.
To whom it may concern. I looked this up because I have problem with hissing noises every time I record with my guitar. Will hissing noises be a prevalent problem for this midi pickup? Thanks, Jason
No, hissing noises will not be a problem with TriplePlay, but it is a different animal. Playing back synths with a MIDI guitar controller is quite different from playing normal guitar.

I have been using the Fishman TriplePlay for about 18 months and it is amazing, there are a few construction issues that could be solved by a better construction material, i.e. "not plastic" which is obviously used to try to keep the cost down. Regarding this video it was meant to be an update so why did he spend most of the video showing everything he showed on an earlier video, and then spend about 1 minute on the Fishman FC 1 Foot Controller, which the literature says that you don't need to have your computer to use the TriplePlay, so why did he not show how that is done. Can we please have an in depth or at least an overview of the Fishman FC 1 Foot Controller, thank you.

Can the EastWest libraries be used on an external hard drive without loss in latency? EastWest and TriplePlay recommend a solid state hard drive, though buying a Mac with a large solid state hard drive is very expensive. It would be great to be able to save $500 and buy a smaller solid state hard drive Mac if I could store the libraries on an external drive and access them without much delay. Anyone? Thanks.

Hi, Dee. Happy to help! All expression pedals are more or less universally compatible. The differences in price can generally be chalked up to build quality and durability. I never used a MIDI pickup, so I'm curious. How does it handle tuning? Guitars are not perfectly in-tune by their nature. Does MIDI software snap to the nearest note, or does it keep the out of tune notes the same?
Hey, Billy. Thanks for reaching out! The way that MIDI is going to be tracked is going to be more so dependent on the software you are using than the pickup itself. Good news is, software allows you to edit MIDI data pretty easy! So, if you run into a case the note isn't quite matching up, you can fix it. Rock On! Philip Courtney, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1968
I love the independent strings for drumkits but if im playing live i cant go into a laptop for each effect, is this compatible with a programmable foot controller?
In the demo he shows string bending controlling the midi pitch, so the pitch can track tuning. Most DAWs will let you edit the track and quantize pitch. Not sure about the software he demoed.
There are two settable modes, one mode that tracks anything continuous ,and one mode that plays without a" pitch bend "as well as a piano / organ. If you set without falowing the pitch bend then even if the guitar is slightly out of tune the MIDI will be of the correct standard note height. Must to not pinch the strings hard because the MIDI tune can jumps up in the next semi tone . If you hit hard the strings, it's best to tune the guitar a little lower because at the moment of hard attack the sound / tone has the pitch above the tuning and the MIDI can interpret it as up a semitone after the pitch of the string when the pitch stabilizes the MIDI tone can suddenly jump back that sounds like the "hard pitch correction on a voice processor". In continuous "bending" mode also must pinch light every note and to not press to hard the string against the frets for the same problem ..the pitch can go high and if you play a MIDI piano that sound like from a broken " phono " vinyl disk player or broken cassette player .For " realistic piano you must play without bending vibrato you must play guitar like the jazz guitar players clean straight .So you chose the right " mode " for different MIDI instruments if you need to sound realistic .The tracking is really good , you can play fast .
There are also some additional controls (two additional buttons and a selector switch), but otherwise they are essentially identical. The same software is now available for both wireless and wired versions.
Hey, Jack! Thanks for your interest and great question. If you get the TriplePlay Bridge Wireless version, the wireless USB receiver is set up to be connected directly to your Mac or PC like you would a MIDI controller. You wouldn’t need an interface for that setup unless you want one for analog outputs. If you have any questions feel free to reach out! Great video Mitch. I am considering dumping my Roland GR-55 and going to the TriplePlay. Currently, I run the GR-55 with the guitar out signal going to the Line 6 Helix which I love. That way I could get rid of the awful 13 pin cable. The down side would be having to acquire a new laptop, but such is life. Your thoughts please? I deeply appreciate your expertise.
@prepended prepended this is my thoughts my friend is looking at a Roland 55 and buying a laptop anyway to save recording 😂 big waste of money it's $1100 for the Roland this plus a good laptop $350 for this means $600 for a laptop or however you go but it makes so much more sense and is so much more simple
That's no good he went and got the Roland anyhow but man it looks like a nightmare to find sounds on it yes 900 sounds you'll have to spend all day with to find a good set of them 😂 but he's happy and I'm sure he'll figure it out
Thanks for reaching out! You can install it permanently with screws or non-permanently with the sticky pads. It's not designed for multiscale instruments, but if it's a 6-string guitar with standard string spacing you should be able to make it work. This doesn't work with floyd rose bridge spacing, however. Let me know if I can help dig in to this with you further! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Hi, after reading/viewing lots of review/updates of Triple play, I suspect the Guitar string bending and vibrato ARE NOT RECORDED in MIDI tracks by DAW, although for live performance the bending and vibrato are presented. That is strange, but I'd appreciated if you would clarify that. Regards, Felix Chen
To clarify, bending and vibrato from TriplePlay get turned into MIDI pitch bend, and can be recorded into any DAW. But note that if you simply plug TriplePlay into a computer or tablet, etc without using any Fishman software, by default the unit will be in "Basic mode" which starts out with pitch bend disabled. To enable pitch bend in this case, if your TriplePlay is the wireless version, then press the button on the four-way that is closest to the volume control. To disable pitch bend again (useful for pianos, e. pianos, organs, pads, string and brass sections) press the button on the other side of the four-way, i.e. the one furthest from the volume knob. If you are using TriplePlay wired, you press both buttons at the same, and this will toggle between bend on and off. Both units also support a more advanced feature called hardware mode that allows detailed controller settings to be programmed for up to 240 internally stored patches.

You might run into problems with tracking notes that are not picked/plucked/hammered etc. It will work for fingerpicked notes on your resonator. Basically any 6 string guitar with steel strings can be made to work if there is room for the pickup very near to the bridge.
@@mrjteele I've seen some more contemporary midi devices able to use a mic as a triggering mechanism. A voice is not plucked and yet the digital processor can track someone's vocals and process them into a digital format. So, I wonder why a pickup for a guitar would be unable to translate a bottleneck slide technique? Both a voice and a bottleneck slide have the unique capability to slide from one tone to the next. Most folks don't sing using a staccato approach. The notes are blended with slides and vibrato. The same approach is used to play slide guitar, or musical saw for that matter, which is another instrument that I'd like to escort into the digital realm. Any other ideas that might help me make this transition would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There's a video of FTP controlling hardware synths (in fact there are two or three of those - I have probably watched all FTP youtube videos in last couple of days as I'm waiting for mine to arrive ;) )
All I need to know right now is what strings gauge would be better for this device. What woud you suggest?
Is there a pickup that works with 7 string for the controller
so basicly turns your guitar into a VST controller right? sort of thinking for the normal guitar player the roland gr's are still a simpler better option
you didn't mention if there is any changes in the hardware from the original. has the tracking been improved? Etc
No changes but there is a firmware update that improves it significantly.
I have a question for you plz hope you can help me,can i use the triple play as an wireless system?i have line6 pedal and need to activated threw the triple play wireless to play without jack on thr effects if the line6 is there a way?
Can the EastWest libraries be used on an external hard drive without loss in latency? EastWest and TriplePlay recommend a solid state hard drive, though buying a Mac with a large solid state hard drive is very expensive. It would be great to be able to save $500 and buy a smaller solid state hard drive Mac if I could store the libraries on an external drive and access them without much delay. Anyone? Thanks.
Completely off topic but why is there an extra hole in his guitar above the pick guard by the neck? It looks like it had a different size pick guard put on it.
is it possible to record the midi notes from the guitar into the daw not just the audio from the plugin..?
Yes
Silly Question: What would you use as a good (and compatible) expression pedal for the Fishman TriplePlay FC-1 Controller?
Hi, Dee. Happy to help! All expression pedals are more or less universally compatible. The differences in price can generally be chalked up to build quality and durability. I would recommend one like this:

Does the system have a good "growling sax sound"???
I never used a MIDI pickup, so I'm curious. How does it handle tuning? Guitars are not perfectly in-tune by their nature. Does MIDI software snap to the nearest note, or does it keep the out of tune notes the same?
Hey, Billy. Thanks for reaching out! The way that MIDI is going to be tracked is going to be more so dependent on the software you are using than the pickup itself. Good news is, software allows you to edit MIDI data pretty easy! So, if you run into a case the note isn't quite matching up, you can fix it.

If you hit hard the strings, it's best to tune the guitar a little lower because at the moment of hard attack the sound / tone has the pitch above the tuning and the MIDI can interpret it as up a semitone after the pitch of the string
when the pitch stabilizes the MIDI tone can suddenly jump back that sounds like the "hard pitch correction on a voice processor".

How long before a midi pickup for my 12 string guitar so i can have a complete solution please
Is there any reason to get this over the wired version other then the wireless feature?
There are also some additional controls (two additional buttons and a selector switch), but otherwise they are essentially identical. The same software is now available for both wireless and wired versions.
Can you plug straight in to studio one using a midi cable or do you need an additional interface?

That's no good he went and got the Roland anyhow but man it looks like a nightmare to find sounds on it yes 900 sounds you'll have to spend all day with to find a good set of them 😂 but he's happy and I'm sure he'll figure it out
Does it mount onto your guitar with a sticky tape? Or do you have to drill holes into it? Will this also work on multiscale guitars? Thanks.

Wish the triple play app was on iPhone too
Hello, is it possible to write tab on musescore with this pickup?
So you don’t need a midi keyboard anymore! Great
Is this strictly a laptop to guitar wireless connection, or is an Internet connection required also?
Does it work with Propellerhead Reason? Also I play left handed (left handed models, not hendrix style). Will this make any difference? i assume not but want to be sure

But can I fingerpick and bottleneck my resonator guitar and have this midi option track my moves?
Thanks
@@regmiles I develop software for Fishman, and have some insight about how TriplePlay tracks, but I have not tried it with slide techniques. Maybe I was too quick to imply that it might not work. I will see if I can get someone to help me test this and get back to you; I'm curious to see if there are indeed any problems. Thanks for your interest!
