Older Asian sister with a younger brother here....this hit close to home for me. Basically my life The sad part is, this treatment destroys my brother's life. And now as adults, my mom would say, 'why didn't you teach your brother? Why can't you fix him?' The honest response was, I can't when you're there enabling him all his life. Whenever I tried to hold him responsible for things as kids...like he should also set the table and clean dishes...my mom calls me a bully. My brother was 14 at that point. I was setting tables and cleaning at 9. If you're an Asian parent now, don't treat your children like this. Treat them equally! Boys aren't better, they aren't pertetually incapable, or they just need more time to mature. They don't need a wife to care for them or to help them mature...no good woman wants to marry a baby!!! So many Asian aunties, and my mom, would say that their sons just need a wife to take care of them and straighten them out. Makes me want to barf. They raised an immatured and lazy adult that they want to unload to someone else. I would have to note that this isn't the case with all Asian families or men. However, it is often true in Asian marriages where the wife is the dominant spouse.
This is actually painful to watch cause of how true it is 😂 especially when as the oldest sibling too my parents will go 'you didn't set a good example' and they'll have an excuse for my brother like 'his brain hasn't finished developing as a male before 25 you can't blame him he's still a kid'.
Istg it’s so unfair when parents or Asian parents (really most) treats their other child trash and treat their other one like it’s their real child. Like you have to take responsibility of your kids yk!
I'm with you! The sister got out, but the brother is crippled by the mom. Years later, she's tired of taking care of him and wonder why he never grew up.
