@@blingsing5383 Orochimaru was the one that gave Danzo all his sharingan, the only difference was Orochimaru wanted to be able to use it as much as he wanted. He should have had Danzo tell Itachi to keep one alive for Orochimaru to do the Body Transfer Ritual on him/her.
He didn't want only the sharingan
He wanted a strong user of the Kekkei Genkai too so he'd take the body
Remember he told Kakashi once that he did not want only the eye but the body too so he could use it like a true Uchiha

You can see that Orochimaru was a good person at first and had good intentions in what he was doing. He just got lost with what he was trying to find
He is a product of bad circumstances and the bad luck of being a genius. He lost his parents as a child, this and the white snake sparked the idea of being reborn in him. Then the war happened and he saw death. So much death. So he wanted to create or find a jutsu that can save you from death. Not only for himself, for everyone. He just wanted to save literally everyone with it. All he found however were things like the Edo Tensei, which wasn't exactly what he was looking for. However, he began to develope an obsession with jutsus and he wanted to learn more. He wanted to learn every jutsu there is. So his former goal of saving everyone from death changed to the wish of being immortal so he can have enough time to learn every jutsu. And he didn't stop there, he also studied a lot of Kekkei Genkai or other innate abilities. Most of them however were not of immediate interest for him, at least not to use them on his own. Most of them were just experiments or he used them on other ways, like the Curse Mark which was a result of Jugo's Kekkei Genkai, or Hashirama's cells which he used in several experiments (Yamato).
Madara is similar, although I think Obito is the greatest example of this "tragic villain" archetype in Naruto

Generally, the "villain, because he lost a girl he loved" is a trope that is so used up that it just fails to make a character interesting.
Its no where near as layered or tragic as, say, Itachis backstory. Or even Sasoris. And yes, also Orochimarus. They all have a lot more going on than "oh, I once lost a girl and now I'm mad at the world because now that I'm an adult I still have the mind of a child".

From what I’ve been told was that he didn’t just turn evil cause his love died. He became evil because Rin’s death proved to him that there is no hope in the world. He became evil because he couldn’t accept the fact that he lived in a world where the best option for someone in rin’s position was death. That he lived in a world filled with suffering and that there was nothing he could do about it.
Saving Rin would’ve helped counter this belief. It would’ve brought him hope but her death only confirmed the things Madara told him that he didn’t want to believe. I’m a new fan to this show though but I’ve been diving deep into the whole thing. Let me know if I’m wrong though

He was literally born into a raging war and his conclusion was that the world was bad and there is no hope. And that although he has seen hope. He has DELIVERED hope im his missions. He was student of one of the greatest shinobi alive, who was allways keen on working things out instead of forcing it with brute force.
There was soo much evidence that there indeed was hope but he ignored all that because Rin died. So ye. Her death WAS the sole reason. And in my oppinion that's cheap.
In the manga he didn't mention his concerns, didn't give a hint about his hoplessness until her death. Because they weren't there. It took just her death and Madaras manipulation for him to snap. And that means that he has either a very fragile mind or is poorly written.
Either way, to my mind he is less layered than people make him out to be.
For that, Kishimoto simply didn't give enough material to support this idea of him 'allways having this hopelessness beyond the surface' and Rin just being the last nail in the coffin. Up until that point he was a happy-go-lucky kid. And he made a U-turn because his crush died. Simple as that.

The Sharigan is more of a tool ... depends how well the wielder uses it ... like in Danzo's case... he had like 10 sharingans in his arm and he used Izanagi multiple times but still lost the fight against Sasuke. The sharigan is always more potent in the hands of an Uchiha. When Itachi fought Kakashi ... Itachi still managed to place Kakashi under genjutsu and Kakashi's sharingan is powerful because it is Obito's eyes. Obito managed to place the Nine Tails under his control with the use of his sharingan.

i would argue that itachiis genjutsu is better than shisui. its just that shisui has kotoamatsukami which is the best genjutsu but cant be used often
