Forest of Hearts - The Animation School
I was born and raised in Cape Town. I’ve been drawn to animation since a young age, creating stop motion shorts using Lego and clay. The story was inspired by experiences of, and reflections made during the pandemic. It draws from feelings of sitting behind a screen watching the world go by while one’s life is repetitive and stagnant, realizations of one’s own lacking self-love, and newfound knowledge that one cannot constantly sacrifice themselves in the aid of others. For our animated feature “Forest of Hearts”, we combined a heart-felt story with striking, Wes Anderson-inspired visuals to create a whimsical, other-worldly, yet emotionally impactful film.
