- Come along with us as we visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park during their centennial celebration. We descend over 750 feet into the cavern as we hike down the Natural Entrance Trail and then tour the Big Room. As we tour the big room we are overwhelmed by all of it's beauty and wonder. It's probably the best cave we have ever been in to date. Make sure to add this national park to your must visit list.

CCNP is my favorite place to go, I am glad your family enjoyed it. FYI: when you were at the short-cut in the Big Room, you were filming a stalagmite and mentioned how it looked 'squid' like. Well, a little more to your left was an information sign which showed the scene before you which included the Chandelier, the group of stalactites above, and, the Caveman. That is the squid like formation. If you watch your video, you will see his profile, he's looking to his left. You can see his little nose and lips. The squid looking part is his hair and a blanket over his shoulders. Anyway, I can tell you enjoy caves (you mentioned going to Mammoth and Wind Caves), so if you are ever in Texas, The Caverns of Sonora, in Sonora, Tx are one of the most beautiful caverns on the planet, and Luray Caverns, in Luray, VA are very beautiful. These are both privately owned, thus have high price entry fees, but well worth it if you are those areas. Ok, I'll let you go. LOL. Safe travels to your family.
Some video was too dark to use, but yes, we saw that also. This cavern was amazing. We have been to Luray. That was way back when we first started. We were going to check out Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park but it's closed right now. Thanks for watching!
Thank for the video. I was looking for this where you go down the natural path. Most people just show the big room.
I have some concerns about going down the natural path. For one I’m claustrophobic and would like to know if there are some narrow sections. Also, I hear it is hard to breathe down there because it is very humid. Did you or your family have trouble breathing. thank you in advance for your response
There were some tight sections and some very dark areas. I say this not to scare you but to make you aware. We did use our lights for some sections to make sure the kids were okay. I am also very tall and definitely did not want to hit my head. It was humid, but very cool. We had no issues breathing. I would recommend the natural entrance if you can do it. It was just awe inspiring and quite and amazing experience hiking down into the cavern. Hope you have a great time when you go!!
