a priceless interview. Good to hear about Lear's movie projects and other TV shows besides All in the Family. Lear's projects have changed my life profoundly and brought joy to many people....

...and has, at least temporarily raised the "consciousness" of a decent % of viewers...at least for a little while. Lear flourished while Bill Paley held the reins of CBS...and long before the conglomerates took over. There is still good "art"....good acting on many shows....and the technical skills are above and beyond.....but since the time of Lear et.al.....I can't think of any TV shows that strike a nerve....or even hit a nerve....forcing us....in that half hour....or hour to examine ourselves...relative to others...and to the world.

The way he killed off Edith and put Archie in a bar with that not too interesting child - it was all too cute, ugh, and the way he killed of James in Good Times... we couldn't have an uppity black man state the obvious... Lear was making a mockery of black life then, and of course he finished the job by ensuring it was a household with no Father. James Evans was such a MASSIVE role model for so many Americans. Lear wasn't as smart as too many believe.
