Add a DH4 on one (or both) of the ends of your loco's so you can run the remote. Although I often have trains so long that the remote can't even reach the end, it does help a bunch not having to "run" all the way between the ends of the train to give it a command. Just remember there is no Dyno on the remote, so you have to shut the Dyno off before leaving your loco, or end up not being able to function the reverser or throttle till you go all the way back to the loco to shut off the Dyno.
Y'know what would make a cool mod for this game? An old E or F-series locomotive, in A and B-unit flavors, which wouldn't really be any different except that the B-unit would have the little porthole driving position because what's more cursed than a dissociated B-unit pulling a train?

I only measure distances in kiloinches. I will occasionally accept centiyards if I need to be precise about it. And Fahrenkites for travelling up the mountain. Wouldn't know how high I am without those, and I'm high pretty much the whole time, especially in the first couple kiloinches, or after a micromegamile.
While the only steam choo choo I may have run was a little 7 1/4" Mogul running propane, I am a bassist. So the musical cover talk in this episode had me crying from laughter, particularly the "TURBO EXPLODES!!! *guitar solo*" bit for EMD, having seen a CN SD-40 blow it's stack once 🤣
9:30 - You might also consider dropping it off and then using some local power like a DE2 for shunting the mess into the right track? Might be easier than doing it with the whole bunch. At least around here it would've been realistic (though usually it would be some time between the drop off and the shunting, but that's not how DV is set up, obviously. But it might be fun in multiplayer operations to have local shunting crews). Note from a-few-minutes-later-myself: Okay, nevermind, you thought about it yourself. 10:30 - 850 m is about the limit of what we do on this side of the pond, so it's borderline prototypical still. 23:35 - good work =D 37:30 (ish) - oh no. Notch four, what a snore. I would've done slug in the center with the DE6s outfacing either end. You can pull from either end forward facing. Just once, I think it might be funny in DVS, during shift change: Do a record/ cut where right at shift change you jump out of the cab, walk off>jump cut right to walking back up to and hopping in the cab. Literally takes no extra record time (other than jumping out and walking away and back). Would likely be a funny enough gag to work the once.
I've never played this game, and people have probably already suggested it, but you could bind your tp to scroll wheel on your mouse if the game lets you rebind things like that. that way you can get a mouse that has a ratchet on the scroll wheel that you can disengage (gaming mice typically have one like this) and just spin to win. even if you don't get one with a toggleable ratchet, it should still help out alot
Finally caught up on the DV playthrough! Hey Hyce, for the health and safety of your F key (and in furtherance of RSI prevention) I really think the time has come to switch to the Standard difficulty. You still get all the same Simulation and physics accuracy, as well as Thumbnail Cam (remember how hyped you were for Thumbnail Cam?!) and of course the longer tp distance. The only unavoidable consequences are shorter time bonuses (which you've been breezing easily so far) and that you'll get map markers; everything else you can just decide not to use. Realistic appears like it's really for those that want to do everything manually, by removing the UI and disincentivising the tp - expecting you to run or use the handcart/a loco to get around. Alternatively it's not difficult to make a custom difficulty (pretty sure you did the prereqs), or anyone could make one and post it on the Discord, but going Realistic and then mashing F (or using mods as others have suggested) just feels like being in Standard with extra steps
@@Hyce777 I swear you beat it in your first-look livestream, but in any case that only affects the custom difficulties - you can definitely load your career in any of the preset difficulties (i.e. Standard) from "Sessions" in the main menu

So, something to mention Hyce. If you have a train engine on any given inbound or outbound rung of the yard, missions cannot spawn going TO that, nor FROM that location. In other words, I seem to recall you parking your locomotive in the B3I. Which is why NOTHING has gone there for the past few episodes.
@godlugner5327 MEM in mine service, we tell the drill where the "pink" stuff has to go to get the "kapaw" that moves towns. Coffee at work and home, strong, like an electric rope shovel. My wife IS my poison and I would never give her up.
"I had a bad day" placards. LOL Also, would you have been able to MU the locomotives with the slug in the middle of the two instead of behind both of the locomotives or would that not allow you to utilize the slug from either end? Seems like that would be more helpful so that you can have the short hood ends on the back and front.
I personally went over to kAN’s channel and have watched every single train video he has made with you… twice… and added a Like. It upset me when you mentioned his train videos “we’re not doing well”, so I went and did my part to help!!! …everything, except his most recent Railroads Online videos on the new, piss poor attempt to try and contend with Century of Steam map that Q Q Q may panic added after your trailer dropped… those I’m not touching.
Hyce, can you put a DE6 at each end of the slug and have both units feed it juice (and beenz), or is the game hard-coded to one input engine powering the slug?
I wish the slug worked well with multiple units attached, but basically, the slug only shares the load with one locomotive. You can have multiple slugs on one locomotive, but not the other way around. With the case of your train, one of those locomotives was acting as if isolated.
I don't think I've seen a DV episode yet where everything went so very _right_, and every time something sketchy got going I listened and no Kenosha.... where's Hyce? Has John Doe kidnapped him and put in a doppelganger to pay the debt off? This was an impressive success!! I also couldn't stop laughing at the sad gas placard. Wow. Jokes aside, Hyce lad, have you changed up the music? :)
Jargon question for you! You referred to switches as normal (and the verb normaling!) and reversed and I faintly remember your Switches 101 video, but you referred to a switch in DV as reversed when it was lined tangentn't. Is it heard of to say tangent and [diverging or mysterious other term] about switches? Bonus question but on a new line so you don't get dizzy: is it a thing on any or several railroads to say tangent up a ladder is "normal" and into a track is "reversed?" also that CollegeHumor reference in there was such a blast from the past it's just aaaaaa!- But that "remember when it used to be good" feels incomplete, even though my retort is about a different now-called-Dropout property: Game Changer/Make Some Noise are really solid, and I promise I'm not just a Brennan Lee Mulligan and/or Vic Michaelis stan (I'm very normal about Vic, I promise)
33:45 could have left the front unit at the harbor roundhouse, but it would have had you running long hood forward. Or, just turn the second unit around as well. You were at a roundhouse with a turntable. It wouldn't have been hard to switch to run with one engine, just more effort than "it's already like this" 😅
44:54 the mental image of you full tilt sprinting through wherever, yelling "ITS FINE" as your train starts to run away NEVER fails to tickle me.

Also, would you have been able to MU the locomotives with the slug in the middle of the two instead of behind both of the locomotives or would that not allow you to utilize the slug from either end? Seems like that would be more helpful so that you can have the short hood ends on the back and front.
That sadly doesn’t work differently to the configuration used by Hyce in the video. :(
57:50 with special guest weird Al yankovic playing the train accordion
9:29 KITTEH!!!
09:30 Kitty!
Yeah I had to pause and go listen to Tenacious D after that lol. Lol thanks for the chuckle.
Hyce, can you put a DE6 at each end of the slug and have both units feed it juice (and beenz), or is the game hard-coded to one input engine powering the slug?
I just wanted to wish you blessing in hopes you get to drive the new 5550 T-1 when it's ready good luck and God bless.
Tension or compression? Schrodinger's slack
Foreshadowing correct Seattle weather today
gotta love a bit of PSR in the evening lol
Well shoot, I got a shout out from hyce in a DV vid.
You sir, you are mental. but so good to watch you do your thing.
Hyce. There is a mod that makes the remote work with the de6 in simulator.
No big deal. Just gonna casually haul 1,725 tons at 826.59 meters over the road. It's fine, precision scheduled railroading at it finest.
Hyce that's not the throttle thats the dynamic Brake ding dong
Me 🤣🤣
"Notch four, because it won't let me add more"
Could you put the slug in the middle so you have a better view?
I wish the slug worked well with multiple units attached, but basically, the slug only shares the load with one locomotive. You can have multiple slugs on one locomotive, but not the other way around. With the case of your train, one of those locomotives was acting as if isolated.
Looks like the head end was the isolated one, so at least you weren't in danger of letting the smoke out of the second unit
Notch 10? Derailed again
I'm always adding in and changing tunes here and there. :)
What are the dynamics doing with the electricity? Is it just being converted into heat?
Yup. Runs it through a big toaster basically. lol
Notch 4, hoping for more
Jargon question for you! You referred to switches as normal (and the verb normaling!) and reversed and I faintly remember your Switches 101 video, but you referred to a switch in DV as reversed when it was lined tangentn't. Is it heard of to say tangent and [diverging or mysterious other term] about switches?
Bonus question but on a new line so you don't get dizzy: is it a thing on any or several railroads to say tangent up a ladder is "normal" and into a track is "reversed?"
also that CollegeHumor reference in there was such a blast from the past it's just aaaaaa!- But that "remember when it used to be good" feels incomplete, even though my retort is about a different now-called-Dropout property: Game Changer/Make Some Noise are really solid, and I promise I'm not just a Brennan Lee Mulligan and/or Vic Michaelis stan (I'm very normal about Vic, I promise)
i don't now for sure but if you put de slug between the DE6's wont is get power from both DE6's?
Nope. The slug only operates off of one engine.
unfortunately, no
I can ussually travel about 50 m when I use f, when you use it you bearly travel at all I wonder if there is something wrong
33:45 could have left the front unit at the harbor roundhouse, but it would have had you running long hood forward. Or, just turn the second unit around as well. You were at a roundhouse with a turntable. It wouldn't have been hard to switch to run with one engine, just more effort than "it's already like this" 😅
welcome to the railroad, lol!
It would also be possible to leave the middle unit at a roundhouse track with simple switching.😊
@@marvin95 more moves, wouldn't happen lol
Can you & Jersey put together another Cursed Train Stream?
I've done 2,000 tons with 7 DE2's out of the harbor.
I'm wondering why u don't put the slug in the middle and the locomotives between the slug
Lazy
Dumb question: Would it make sense for this power combination to have the slug located in the middle?
It won't make any difference.
I caught that FPS Russia reference Hyce 😂
Why dont u run the mods that organizes them and puts the lanes on order sheets?
Hi Hyce, I hope you have a good day today
Quick question, why not run the slug in the center and MU the whole thing?
It only mates with one locomotive no matter what you do, so less switching around is more ideal.
We need for Derail Valley the DRG locomotivs back
