Well done ✅ I retired at 55 ..2 yrs ago ...I took my final salary pension and reinvested it. Best thing I've ever done ....part time job now for pocket money. I actually enjoy going to work 😂.
Retired myself last July after 41 years as a chef but still do 2 days a week, it's about the banter and keeping the old grey matter going mate, and it pays for the holidays😎👍@@garysides636
Congratulations on your early retirement I did the same when I was 47 years old although mine was through ill health and I still don’t know how I had time to go to work as I have a full tire from the day I finished work. The one one thing I will say is you’ve truly earned yourself some rest and recuperation
What I did this week was help my daughter rip out and rearrange her IKEA kitchen. We HATED it. The Males in the family thought we were crazy and didn’t want any part of it. So we did it ourselves. When I saw her face as she realized we could achieve our idea and that we had measured correctly was priceless to me. Now that being said… we had wrong tools and every screw was the wrong one and in crooked .. she got them all out. We saw our life flash before our eyes once when we under estimated a cabinet weight and size but we DID it. We didn’t break anything or damage anything. So we are very proud of ourselves. It’s not perfect but it’s livable and the bit that’s not perfect is an easy fix. We stood and just smiled at each other and marveled at the light it brought into the kitchen and the room we gained. We were validated with the results. The males refuse to go look or ask questions. But we Smashed it. ❤ The tree might be a Sycamore
Only thing I look forward to in life at the moment Is Wednesday and Sundays. I am struggling with mental health at the moment. But watching these videos keep me going, seeing how happy everyone is in the videos. Keep up the amazing work and showing us lot what you get up to week in week out
Spent part of the week waiting for inspection of our apartment complex and the rest of the week just being there for my brother who lost his wife a little over a year ago and is struggling with what would have been his 43rd wedding anniversary. So I’m just hanging out and keeping him busy. Love another week of D&J!!!❤❤❤❤❤
My week was rough because of kidney stones(!) 😢 but I did all the right things and included lots of rest watching D&J and waiting for my body to do the work. The exciting part was feeling a bit better each day. Loved your willingness to redo what you saw as imperfect.
This weekend, I took my grandson all the way from Newquay in Cornwall to see Derby County and back in one day. What day, great win, and the smile on his face was worth every hour on the road
The most interesting thing I did this week was sorting out permission for 8 veterans to sleep out in Bivvies on the 23rd March for charity on Council land, the amount of paperwork for us to sleep rough for one night was amazing
Top tip Dave…for a smoother curve to follow on the revised edging stones, you may found a garden hose under pressure better at providing a smoother curve as opposed to the string on spikes….obviously still need the string foor the levels.
A great video as usual. James’s place looking really smart. I should imagine he’s really pleased with it. Stevie asked what we got up to the weekend. Of course formula one started made my weekend. Look forward to Wednesdays.
It’s a London Plane tree Dave. Look forward to seeing you and the boys on a Wednesday and Sunday. I’m an original but only just realised I wasn’t subscribed. Anyway, keep up these great videos!!
Hi d&j Project I really enjoyed watching your video all the time guys, big Dave your big driveway job is looking really nice maite, keeping up the very exact work like away the time guys, I hope u all have a very nice weekend to guys I see u on Wednesday video now guys. 🤗👷♂️💪😉👌👍
I love the softer curve at James job. Enjoyed watching the drop curve jobs, looks really good too. You have a great bunch of workers at D&J who all work very well together. Great team players. It's great that other see your work and want the same for themselves. Love your videos ❤
It’s a London plane tree. They have the camouflage looking bark. They’re planted a lot in city centres and built up areas to absorb the pollution. Very heavy wood. Very dusty when you cut into it. 👍🏼👍🏼
Getting to a point in your business that you might need a driveway/ bricklaying team that only do that. Really good for your business that it’s growing.
Hi to all at d&j,i did wstch yesterday but forgot to comment, best thing i did was wake up alive every morning 😂James's looking good and i agree with the bigger curve for turning/parking,dropped curb job looked great and you're attention to detail is fantastic and professionalism is outstanding as aslways guys👌🙂👍
A few different jobs this week guys. A nice bit of finishing touches on the dropped kerbs with rounding the edges off, details details all good workmanship . Really think the edging stones on James drive look a lot better how you have finished them off.
Perfection, perfection, that's what you gave to every customer, nothing short of perfection 👍👍 good to see the struggler around with his banter, and Bernie lurking in the background ☺️☺️
Most interesting thing I have done this week is shape and topsoil 2no ponds on site at shepshed. Great video as usual from the d&j team. Have a great and safe week
I like the curve redo. It makes sense. I like how you always do what needs to be done to make the customer happy. Thanks for pointing out your attention to detail on the two driveways.
Just want you to know your videos mean a lot to me as I can no longer work I always took pride in my work and it's lovely to see such a professional family firm working so well together
You’re such perfectionists in your work, it’s a pleasure to watch each episode. You go above and beyond to make things right for your customers. Not too shabby at all 👍
I spent the weekend catching up watching your videos...... I've watched from day one to the present one and its took me about 4 /5 months you make my day go a lot better watching you guys and I'm thinking of doing my own fencing you have shown me so many tricks of the trade an keep up the good work
Fun little mix of things this week. Nice job on the drop crossings. Shame about having to redo the curve at James', but it does look better now. Good vid. Thanks.
If lucky is struggling for work, my husband and I, would like quotes for new driveways at two properties. We understand you're busy and no way we would want BP to quote with their workmanship😂 soakaways installed up to the house etc. Lucky did a great job on those edgings hun
Well the curve looked great one Dave give the customer what they want that’s what brings the work in cos word of mouth is the best garenttee for continuing work it stood my hubby well for thirty three years till the big C got him tc all the oldies 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Dave, Stevie and others. Great top tips for doing dropped kerbs so that they look ‘right’. James’ curve looks more natural now. Two for one - D&J and The Professional Struggler! Catch you on the next one. Dave Birmingham
Another brilliant Sunday video well done to all of you at D&J dropped curb jobs we’re brilliant like the way you go that extra mile to match up original dropped curbs well done 👏
I’ve got some signs if you want? I found them on the side of the road in Nottingham years ago - coincidentally exactly the same as the ones that you got stolen 👍👍👍Jokes🤣🤣 brilliant episode 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Telling the wife I've got to watch the latest episode on TV at 1200 before I miss another one that gets taken down! 😢 Well played gents that drive is ridiculous! Your going to sore after resin that one 😂
Enjoyable video dave and stevie, some lovely drop crossing jobs completed looking good, and James's big project certainly coming on.the curve radius looks spot on thats one big job but has taken alot of work and dedication to get it to that point. Have a nice week, see you Wednesday.
Great attention to detail on the dropped crossing. Original curve gave the drive a more interesting profile but not as practical as the amended one. Great work.
Another day at d and j projects 😎,my best thing i done was too look forward to watching the Sunday special at d and j projects the best thing since bread was manufactured in 1842 😂 😂 great video Dave and Stevie 😎👍❤️
FUBAR F%&ked up beyond all recognision, working in a male domanet Co. I hear this alot lol Nothing exciting happened to me this week unfortunately. James house is coming on a treat really enjoyed watching all the progress on his house. Well done team D & J 🙂
Great work guys. I've had to do a re-curve before now too. Bit of a pain but it happends. 😂 especially if the customer isn't around when your doing it. It's not always possible to check. Still producing great videos !! Speak soon
Not too shabby. James's block curbs looking good. Dave showing the Big Dog CA while laying blocks! Steve showing has the "Skills to Pay the Bills" while spreading the Tarmac. Cheers!
Good afternoon D and J ... James drive and garden is some undertaking .... coming along nicely though..... There is something very satisfying about watching a project of this size tranform episode by episode... that's what i love about Brockstone (Matty) .....i l ow you watch them too. Thank you for the heads up...re every trade.....what a lovely guy he is ...great firm too. I can understand why you've spent time with him Right im off to the gym with jane and chill for the rest of the day before work this evening in Manchester... Be safe, G
Blocks do look great but definitely prefer the softer curve! Most interesting thing I did this week was get interviewed for a job by my partner lol, I got it btw 🤣. Lovely job on the drop crossings again. Nice to see the struggler, always makes me smile lol.
The most interesting I did was look for a sapphire bracelet to match my engagement ring for our 45th Wedding annversary on st Patricks day 17th March. The budget was £200 but could go to £400 at a push. I wanted an old fashioned setting, with more sapphires and only tiny diamonds. Well the price of gold has gone up, most geninue gold sapphire bracelets were over 1000 quid! There is a secondhand jewelry shop, I found my bracelet for £299. Hubby was happy.
Just spent a few hours building a log store out of pallets and roofed with some spare twin wall polly sheet. Used decent sized washers on the roof so the screws wont pull through.
14:21 I know what I'de love to see is a "Customer Reaction" vid, I was in the trade and I would stand back and be so impressed and often the customer would be delighted,I never one did I not do an exeptional job. But was incorperating stonework,I loved customer reaction,
Another fab vidio full of good jobs love James house well done Lucky love drop crossings and the most exciting think we have done moved house from Stevenage Herts to Yorkshire and we are loving it great blook paving Dave
Great video guys, Great work and content guys, I see Dave you avoided the f ing and jeffing bit of Chris getting the fan apart I see it all on his channel it was so funny lol 😂😂😂 Stevie good Luck trying to make friends with Chris's dog but he's like a different animal when he's in your office playing around with pickles you might stroke him then. Have a great weekend guys See you on the next one guys.
Good variety this week, looking forward to the drive being finished off and will look better for the tarmac. Have you thought of getting the spray for ground to try out the curves for paving, might help avoid rework?
That looks really nice can’t see why customers fuss over the littlest things when it’s a big project I know it’s what the customer wants but it looks good
A question guys regarding the drop crossing you had the inspector out.How comes under streetworks you dont use pathway closed signs and form a safe pathway along the road side for pedestrians with plastic road barriers. With midbeds council we have to barrier off all the works around pathway and create safe walking and not allowed to use just bollards to demarc working area if that makes sense.Do you display a permit board with permit number and company contact details on.Thanks.
Most interesting thing iI did was pick my nose. 😂😂 Did a quote for a job first job I've had agreed this year. Luckily I have another source of income to fall back on. Great vid boys.
We went to see Dune 2 in Imax. Pretty good movie. They didn't muck it up. Tonight I decided to get hotel rooms for the Eclipse in NY. Fat chance, even 2 star Motel 6 was $200 night, and all others that were not sold out were $400-500 night. Should have done this 3 months ago.
Watched man city beat man u 😂. Lol only joking. I had my Great niece and Great Nephew over for the weekend. They kept me busy. Noah is 4 months sophie is 17 months old. Another fab video. Still waiting for Stevie to message me about a Man U Plaque.
Could they have been cut down instead of replacement. I saw a kerb cutter on the victory channel, but I don't know if it is available in the UK. Great work as usual
Struggler is always smiling and joking. Top bloke.
I took early retirement on Tuesday after 35 years in the NHS. That’s my exciting news for this week. Keep up the good work guys.
