I understand everyone’s criticism for Jerrod, but Tyler knew what he was getting into with agreeing to talk about their relationship on camera. Jerrod also knew what he was getting into by having this convo on camera.
Omg 😭 I’ve been Tyler so many times..back when I was afraid of being direct and hurting someone’s feelings..especially if I saw them as FAMILY. That can definitely be tricky, especially if you don’t feel the same AT ALL
Bro yes and don’t try to make me feel bad for not giving you a straight answer especially if my actions is clearly saying no I hate people who can’t use contact clues like help me help you type sh*d
It’s crazy cuz Tyler is funnier than the actual comedian (in general and in this vid lol). The look Jerrod gave when Tyler said “I’m Big Straight” had me dead!!
Okay lots to unpack here. First off, this revelation by Jerrod is incredibly brave. Kudos to Tyler for giving him the gift of showing up. Tyler clearly gave Jerrod the impression that there could be more than just friendship and that's why Jerrod went for it. When you watch the whole show, you can see their interaction is quite intimate. It is also visible in the interview that Jerrod did with Tyler on Tyler's channel a few years back (please watch). Tyler chose Jerrod of all the people and friends in his life to interview him for that very intimate conversation. Plus they know each other on a deep level that Jerrod took it all to mean that Tyler might also have romantic feelings for him. So he went for it because he believed there was a real chance. Even if Tyler had those feeling for Jerrod, it is unlikely that they are as powerful as the ones that Jerrod has/had for Tyler. Either way, the relationship probably wouldn't have worked between them as connection is not the only factor that makes for a successful romantic relationship. Mutual attraction is also important. Moreover Tyler is the opposite of Jerrod when it comes to publicly expressing his emotions on camera. He is not an exhibitionist like Jerrod. Tyler wants a deeply private romantic life. Jerrod wants public validation, admiration, and affection. So for those saying that it should have remained private that is true for you and most of us. But for Jerrod, his show is all about expressing publicly the dysfunctions in his mental processing of his innermost feelings and life. His goal was to be vulnerable and overcome shame. I hope he acheived both. He said on the Breakfast Club that he's now happily in a romantic relationship with Michael for the past two years for the first time in his life so that must be a good outcome for him. The show has been great for him especially for the kind of audience he has. According to him, this is the only way he could achieve authenticity in communicating his deep feelings. He is an exhibitionist by nature as we can all observe which makes the show all the more compelling to watch. It's a reality show not a "docuseries". I recommend for everyone to watch the whole series (which is very uncomfortable to watch) and you can see Jerrod evolve. Lastly, everyone on the show had to sign off on being on camera for the show so this is Jerrod and Tyler performing for us even while in their natural habitat. This has never happened on TV ever. The show is raw and feels too real so kudos to the entire team. Especially for two phenomenal Artists (Jerrod and Tyler) in their respective industries. What an iconic moment for TV. Kudos to both brothers 👏🏾
i'm a bit disappointed in his response as well :( Jerrod- you're learning- you cannot force a response from others- to your feelings sweetheart. on a much brighter note, I cant wait to see what you're up to!?! I love you :) even though i'm "big straight" I L O V E U.
A lot of times, when people hear "Honesty is the best policy," they think don't lie. Truth is honesty is also not spinning, not deflecting, not distracting, not evading. Cowering out of a response can leave things worse than an honest, mature response might.
This is perfectly stated. 💜 We call it "being honest," not "speaking honestly." Honest communication doesn't mean "telling the truth when I've been cornered and interrogated." Choosing not to acknowledge a deeply personal disclosure by the other person is dishonest in a couple different ways to both parties. If you're unable or unwilling to be honest with yourself, you're being dishonest.
Yeah but also convincing the person you have a crush on, especially someone you call your best friend, to have an incredibly intimate conversation on camera that will be peddled out to the masses is not a mature thing to do and also not productive. Tyler seemed very aware millions of people were in the room with him, so I can understand why Tyler was so uncomfortable, also Tyler did give him two very direct statements. “You’re like my brother,” and “I’m big straight.” These two sentences alone should tell Jerrod exactly how Tyler feels and what boundary Tyler has placed on their friendship. It’s Jerrod’s ability to accept that to see if their friendship continues.
🤣😂 Jerrod speaks slowly and calmly which makes him seem deep. He’s a smart man and I’m sure he understands everybody doesn’t have to want you romantically. And Tyler is hilarious. I’m big straight! In life or this plate?! All of it hilarious 🤣
Awkward rejection and miscommunication is what happens in everyday life. I’m confused as to why people say these bold statements and don’t got anything to back it up.
Its devastating to see someone be so vulnerable and it be received so negatively. Be an adult and address how you feel, dont treat someone youve been a friend with for so long like a random dude.
I went to Jerrod’s comedy tour two years ago. They locked up our phones so he could be more candid. He told the story of him confessing his feelings for a friend, only to have the friend reject him and ignore him. The whole time I thought he was talking about someone he knew back in N. Carolina. I was not expecting it to be Tyler, The Creator. And now that I’m watching them, I do not see what Jerrod sees in him. Unless it was for the cameras, Tyler is clearly uncomfortable and emotionally unavailable. Jerrod, honey, you deserve better in both your friendships and intimate partners.
When Tyler asked, “do you want the same thing from me” jerrod should have said yes. Because it seems that’s what he’s seeking; for things not to be awkward between them and go back to being the same. It’s just one of things where I’m like “aw he missed that opportunity”. He got too caught up with Tyler’s mannerisms and didn’t read between the lines that Tyler was offering friendship still…

Tyler is bisexual but he seems like the type of bisexual that likes to have fun with the guys but will only get into a serious relationship/ marriage with women, I know alot of bi women like that
This feels exactly like what i went through back in 2008. I was 20 he was 21

I understand everyone’s criticism for Jerrod, but Tyler knew what he was getting into with agreeing to talk about their relationship on camera. Jerrod also knew what he was getting into by having this convo on camera.
No he didnt

Omg 😭 I’ve been Tyler so many times..back when I was afraid of being direct and hurting someone’s feelings..especially if I saw them as FAMILY.
That can definitely be tricky, especially if you don’t feel the same AT ALL
On the same note a person can respect it more in the long run when the feelings are gone. But if folks are dancing around it, it makes it hard
Bro yes and don’t try to make me feel bad for not giving you a straight answer especially if my actions is clearly saying no I hate people who can’t use contact clues like help me help you type sh*d
I’m still not over this scene
It’s crazy cuz Tyler is funnier than the actual comedian (in general and in this vid lol). The look Jerrod gave when Tyler said “I’m Big Straight” had me dead!!
Right.
Tyler could be a great comedian but it would be a waste of his talent
" I"m big straight" that one line was the biggest knock out punch I have ever witness 🤕
"Something super mad regular" 😂😂😂
Bro knew what he said, he was just waiting for Jerrod to repeat it 😂bro is a troll😂

"In life or on this plate?" is colder than any bar Tyler has given in his career.
I just recently discovered that Tyler actually got joints.
There’s so much emotion in this clip I love it😭
That mane getting that plate mid interview was unintentionally hilarious.
i'm a bit disappointed in his response as well :( Jerrod- you're learning- you cannot force a response from others- to your feelings sweetheart. on a much brighter note, I cant wait to see what you're up to!?! I love you :) even though i'm "big straight" I L O V E U.
He just doesn’t like the outcome, and it didn’t go his way. Thats just human nature. This is how adult conversations should go.
Why is everyone taking this seriously when it's most likely all scripted anyway💀💀💀

Tyler was soooo…Tyler The Creator about it 😂😂
A lot of times, when people hear "Honesty is the best policy," they think don't lie.
He gave a response … he said he sees him as a brother which means he doesn’t see him in a romantic way. That’s about as direct as it gets.
@@JamesDabdubbro don’t put “I’m big straight” in there… Tyler is not big straight and we all know it

He did an interview… these conversations are not scripted lol Tyler was aware that it was going to happen.
I’ve never been attracted to any of my friend’s romantically so idk. But clearly Tyler values his friendship more, and that is to be respected.

🤣😂 Jerrod speaks slowly and calmly which makes him seem deep. He’s a smart man and I’m sure he understands everybody doesn’t have to want you romantically.
And Tyler is hilarious. I’m big straight! In life or this plate?! All of it hilarious 🤣
there's no way this isn't scripted bruhhh
Awkward rejection and miscommunication is what happens in everyday life. I’m confused as to why people say these bold statements and don’t got anything to back it up.
Its devastating to see someone be so vulnerable and it be received so negatively. Be an adult and address how you feel, dont treat someone youve been a friend with for so long like a random dude.
When Tyler giggled as Jerrod's head was down...I live in that space. I've been oddly drawn to cringy awkward moments like this since I was a kid. 😂
“I wasn’t imply I wanted it, I don’t want any of that… I’m big straight.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Sometimes people just need a straight answer, even if you aren’t. Just say “yes” or “no”. People heal quicker when confronted with honesty.
I feel like I was not supposed to see this
I went to Jerrod’s comedy tour two years ago.
Jerrod knew exactly knew what he was getting into
When Tyler asked, “do you want the same thing from me” jerrod should have said yes. Because it seems that’s what he’s seeking; for things not to be awkward between them and go back to being the same. It’s just one of things where I’m like “aw he missed that opportunity”. He got too caught up with Tyler’s mannerisms and didn’t read between the lines that Tyler was offering friendship still…
This is the funniest vid I've seen in a minute 😭😭😭
