@@poppyparker Ripping off a small producer of unique dolls (like many of the cast BJDs), I'd agree. Ripping off a major manufacture of mass produced dolls, that are over priced, and rely on 'snob' factor to maintain ripping off their buyers... I don't really have a problem. I've 30+ 1/3 DDs, Azones, Parabox/Obitsus, Smartdolls etc, I love them, but hate the ridiculous prices! (Volks & Danny Choo being huge offenders!) I'd buy one of these happily... as a middle finger to the 'big boy' manufacturers.
The problem with these dolls is that children with no income find them appealing (of course, they're beautiful!) and they can't afford them the same way adult collectors can, and their parents most likely won't want to justify the $600-1000 pricetag of a real Dollfie Dream for their birthday or Christmas present. It makes me sad that knockoffs are available to purchase at all, and it frustrates me that people will buy these knockoffs without considering the consequences for the actual collectors and manufacturers of Dollfie Dreams and other large scale vinyl dolls. :(
And that's no shame on buying one for your daughter I need to preface, I wholeheartedly agree that giving her one of these imitations is the best choice as they are delicate collectors items and need to be treat with extreme care that a young person could forget or not understand as well as an adult collector does. For parents, these are an amazing choice, I just wish they didn't exist at all from an adult collector's perspective, but for kids, it can't get much better than having something almost as good for a fraction of the price.
@@NeroBride I completely agree! In one of my other videos I state that if I could click my fingers and remove all fake BJDs I would. However, I've accepted that they do exist in the doll market. Unfortunately I've noticed it is not so much the younger crowd promoting these aliexpress dolls as options (and not stating them as the fake things they are), but the older doll collecting community who purchase them and without shame promote them.

I’m sorry but fake dollfies are so funny looking, her makeup is so awful! And her wig does her no justice! I wish they did her makeup softer, if it was softer she’d look so much better. It makes me sad because miku deserves so much better, i spent $800 on my real dollfie dream miku and it was worth every penny Shes so sturdy and gorgeous, the detail and quality of her is insane especially on her skirt I understand some people cant afford that but id rather save for a real one than spend $100+ for one not even worth $50 imo

I read your description. After reading what you said about real and fake bjd dolls, I can understand both sides of the story. I do feel bad for artists who have their work stolen, at the same time I see how some people cannot afford bjds, or might buy a fake for many reasons. Some reasons I can think at the top of my ahead are, they can't afford it, they want to see what a fake looks like before spending money on the real thing, etc. Some cons I think to buying fake bjds are, not supporting the artist, morally not right (for the artist) to have their work stolen, people being scammed because they can't tell the difference between a real and fake one. That being said these are just my random thoughts, I don't collect BJDs or know much about them. Personally, if I really wanted one i'd probably save up for a real one, but I would not judge someone harshly for owning a fake BJD. One of my UA-camr friends use to collect them and I would see them on her channel. As for the doll, I think her design looks nice and I like her clothes.
She is an absolutely striking doll, id love to get one but even the fake ones are out of my price bracket, I think it is very wise to buy Astra her instead of one that is 5 times the price, she can enjoy her without worrying - well done to Astra for getting the solo 😀😀😀 I hear what your saying about the artists and actually I hadn’t thought about the dolls being made from stolen moulds - I do believe that I may have inadvertently bought some Blythe done that way - honestly though I couldn’t afford a real one - I do think that the other fakes dolls I have are just copies of the proper thing but I couldn’t be sure 🙈🙈🙈 thank you for your very interesting and informative video 🙂🙂🙂
Thanks Jay, Aliexpress is pretty deceptive with their dolls so I believe a few people get confused. I don't try to judge others on what they purchase as i've seen the real vs fake debate many times. I'm on the anti-fake side but I am realistic enough to know that fake/copy dolls are here to stay. Buying Astra a real Volks doll was not an option. I can trust her to love and treat her toys well but some of her friends are, well, energetic. A real Volks doll being destroyed because a friend decided to make her fly across the room would result in a situation i'd rather avoid, lol. It is always better to educate rather than condemn in my opinion :).
I agree for sure about needing to support the artists, and for a lot of bjd's you really should avoid fakes. But personally I feel like Volks is doing quite well (since they sell more than just dollfies anyways). I own an official dollfie and am considering this one to make into a custom. I dont think Im gonna feel too bad.
Hey on Aliexpress you can get a plastic bjd doll body for a very good price and get a dollfie dream head. that's what I'm going to do but I'm not getting the resin bjd body I know they are recast. also you can go to BJD Bhiner that's a english Taobao website and it's real not fake ^_^

Oml I'm sick of people supporting this PLEASE for the love of God do not buy recasts. So many good stores are literally shutting down for good because of recasts. People work hard on their dolls only for them to get stolen from them. As an artist this makes my blood absolutely boil.

Major companies like Mattel, MGA etc. suffer from China's factory clones. The small independant artist just isn't going to even factor on their level of care. It is from this acknowledgement that I decided the best way to encourage buying artist dolls is by education rather than condemnation. Hence why I buy recasts, explain the harm they do, but leave it up to the individual person to make their decision. Remember a lot of innocent first doll buyers who have no idea about BJDs buy recasts, treating them like they are evil just turns them away from the doll collecting community. Recasts exist and will continue to exist, however, the only way to change people's attitudes is to give them an understanding of why it hurts the independant artists than just turn the dolly collecting hobby into an ugly 'them and us' type deal. You get a lot more flys with honey than vinegar :).

I have little emotion when opening a fake doll as it is what it is, a copy, a stolen mould,,,, an artists hard work stolen and produced with inferior ending to make a buck off another artist's expense. Please read the description. Now if you were mistaken and thought this was a REAL Dollfie dream doll, then yes, that doll is not for a child. The entire reason for purchasing this fake was so if it does get broken, it won't hurt as much as a real broken Dollfie.

Well I do planning on getting real dollfie someday. Till then I have the recast but I got her as a birthday gift from my late aunt before she passed away due to breast cancer. I m not a big supporter of bootlegs. But this one pass for me she may be creepy but I fix it repaint it I fix the limp s on her joints. She looks better. But ween I get better job I will get a Original doll.

@@salimafatima4638 you are a hater. You could use more of education to talk to ppl. Know how to tell them about fake x legit without insulting them. And keep in mind, is not of your business what ppl want to buy. Is not your money, is theirs. You can buy a real one? Hurray! So ppl who earn less money will deprive themselves for getting a doll they love because you and all recast haters friends of your said so? Hell no. Keep preaching hate won't solve anything. Talk nicely, it might do some good, but no promises. A little bit of love, education and respect can do miracles.
@@tinaag wow I can't even belive this comment right now. I definatley agree with your words. That was very rude and an uneducated way to say they vote for the real thing than the recasts. Aslo, as some one my self who cant and probably never will be able to afford the real dolls I don't mind getting a fake one as a repaint project or something. I dislike all the anti-recast people out there. I do vote for what they are for but I hate how hateful and mean they are to others who have the fake ones. It's sad and disappointing

I own a recast and bought another one because I also can't afford a real one. I'm a neutral person. I'm happy if someone buys a real one or fake, it doesn't matter to me, is not my money being spend, so how is become my business or some hater business? It is not and never will be. It's this person's little money and he or she will be very happy with the new doll and this will make my day. If haters don't like, just pass along and go find a video or a post with legit dolls instead of spamming their hate in someone else's post, it's gonna make him or her look like an idiot anyway. Go live their own lives and leave us be, that's the right thing to do!
I feel like she would look much cuter if you changed the face up and maybe fix that elongated waist.
I am tempted to try her body/clothes/wig with a smart doll head !
