Thanks for the shoutout Gav! Glad the vinyls arrived safe, and the feedback is much appreciated. Regarding the guys in Overhead The Albatross mentioning the number of plays increasing, Spotify has its own portal called Spotify For Artists to check daily listeners/streams/playlist adds etc so you can see how each song is performing etc. It's really useful to see where songs are being shared, which ones are underperforming, and whether the listener base is increasing or decreasing on any given week. And in the underrated band discussion, you have to add in Fen and Heretoir from the atmospheric black metal scene - both excellent acts that deserve a lot more recognition (Heretoir recently supported Killswitch Engage in Europe I believe which is a massive achievement obviously!). Recommended listens are Fen's 2019 record The Dead Light, and Heretoir's masterpiece from 2017 "The Circle" Keep up the good work lads!
Regarding the power metal festival question; there's an Academy sized festival in Birmingham that's been going for at least half a decade (Quest Fest), which is obviously much more conservative in its scale compared to Bloodstock, but does pretty well within the niche. I'd recommend anyone who checks out the genre and likes it to give that festival a go.
Power Metal Quest Fest is a good Power Metal Fest, that's grown a bit and has changed venues a few times, it used to be in Birmingham but has moved to Wolverhampton, I'd love to see it grow to become a weekender, There's also Warhorns which gets Power and Folk Metal bands Also, Little Angels are wildly underrated, I barely see them get spoken about, Feeder are also a band which had two hit singles but they've got tonnes to them, they released a double album just last year and to this day their material is consistent and enjoyable, has Feeder ever played 2000Trees? If not then would you consider booking them James? Or are they too different to what the average attendee in this day and age would be interested in?
Cheers for the Civil Service band love Gav. - can't wait for the show with Overhead, The Albatross (Celestial Diadem post-rock and metal Weekender 24-26th January at 229, for any London watchers/listeners). As a band, we cannot recommend our bottle opener for DIY dentistry - but opinions are equally divided over Muse 😅.
All aspects of the industry are booking well in advance now. I know already that on certain weekends in the calendar for 26 and 27 I'll be away working at 'x' festival. Even on the small scale. One of my bands has a booking for NYE 2026 into 2027!
With regards to Nordic Giants not really getting bigger in the live scene etc, I just think "when has true genius ever been accepted by the masses?". I think that's why Nordic Giants aren't getting a bigger following. I'll cheekily throw in that that's why us DOCB folk aren't huge too 🤣

Chase & Status > Manowar
Five are not as good as Sclub7! Not doing much for your metal credentials
