I think my favorite is Treasure in the Royal Tower! I loved the historical elements, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the cozy castle/hotel. I also remember really liking the music. The chores and puzzles were fun without being over-the-top challenging. Plus the culprit totally caught me by surprise during my first play, which is always a fun surprise!

For me , Shadow at the Waters Edge , Ghost of Thornton Hall and #1 is Secret of Shadow Ranch because I live in AZ and all the images , music , names basically everything are so accurate. The radio station even has the voice of one of our favorite local broadcasters & he mentions real places known to those of us that live here . I went to Shadow Mountain High school, the petroglyphs are very accurate. Even the birds & sounds in the background are very Arizona!

I love danger on deception island, i'm a scardy cat so I don't like the 'scary' games much and the soundtrack is fantastic! Also love the whole environment

I really love The Haunted Carousel too. It was, I believe, the second game I ever played. I love it for several reasons. The first is nostalgia (obviously) but the second is the environment. I think it is so well done in this game! It feels creepy to me, and I think this ambience is really aided by the music. The music is KILLER. Both carousel themes make me want to go to an amusement park, and the ballroom track lives in my head rent free. Also, Joy's story really hits me in the feels. I love Miles, and the part where he tells Joy that even bad memories have a place in a good life makes me tear up every time, because it's true and I'm a sap. Lastly, spoiler alert, but...Elliot was one hell of a creepy culprit, and I enjoyed getting to hit him in the face with that sign. All in all, I think this game deserves more appreciation.

The only two I wish were higher up were Ghost Dogs and Shadow Ranch. Like the Haunted Carousel to you, these 2 were some of my OG games from my childhood and hold a lot of sentimental value and nostalgia. Always love replaying those.

I’m surprised VEN and CAP aren’t on here! Very pleased CRY made the list - it’s a very powerful game for me, with a lot of unexpected heart. Henry weeping at his parents’ tomb just spoke to this undercurrent of despair and overwhelm he was feeling in a really impactful way, and him learning his uncle cared deeply for him by the end was moving.

WHY wasn’t Ghost of Thornton Hall on this list?????
Curse of Blackmoor Manor and Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon are definitely in my Top 5. Good calls on those.

My favorite is The Silent Spy. Just it's so emotional with the music and the subject matter of Nancy's mom. It's so interesting to read all the notes you get, and it feels like it's really deep with all the logistics of the culprit's plan. I always get a bit teary eyed during this game, and it has puzzles I like, cool character interactions, and an awesome threat that feels genuinely scary without being a ghost or monster.

First game i ever played was Curse of Blackmoor Manor. My high school seatmate introduced me to this game. And this is still my top 1 game. I still remember how much fun me and my seatmate had talking about the rotating doors! And how long it took me to figure it out. I’m 33 now and still love these games.

So I’ve known about your channel for a while but never delved too deep into your videos but omg I’m down the rabbit hole you’re speaking my language with these Nancy drew games!! I don’t have anyone to talk to about these games lol barely anyone I knew ever played them!
I’m about to be 32 and I’ve been a fan of her interactive since SCK OG version lol- my first game was MHM and I was instantly hooked but Haunted Carousel has a special place in my heart cause I’m a jersey girl so I freaked out extra when that game was being released , such good character /story development in that game with fun puzzles etc!
I’m sooooo glad I found your channel again, I love your content!! You play a lot of other games I enjoy too!

It's so lovely that there is something in each game to appeal to someone different. Final Scene would definitely be in my bottom ten games but then White Wolf is in my top five. But then I like the cooking and fox and geese! I guess this is why the games are so popular and resonate with us, as there is always something for everyone!

My favorite is probably Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. I always love the cemetery scavenger hunt in Legend of the Chrystal Skull.

I'm always a bit surprised to see Curse of Blackmoor Manor ranked so highly on people's lists. For me it's too puzzle heavy, and I don't think I buy who the culprit is. Controversially, I also don't think Waverly is as great as everyone makes it out to be. Maybe it's because I didn't play it as a teen, but I didn't get strongly invested in the dynamic between the students. The settings, music, and animals in both were enjoyable though. Instead of those two I would add Phantom of Venice and Ghost of Thornton Hall to my top 12 list. I would add Secret of Shadow Ranch and Sea of Darkness to my list as well.

The Thumbnail photo for this video is a picture from Phantom of Venice. But Phantom of Venice doesn't appear on this list!
    Anyway, general comments:
Crystal Skull: Yeah, Bess is the high point. Don't know if she ever became a *great* detective (but then, neither is Nancy). I never saw Harrison Ford, though. Wasn't he supposed to be in this?
Deception Island: Scores on pretty much all counts. Good characters, music, story, phone contacts, endgame. Best Culprit Fakeout in the series. Maybe a little too much clam chowder, though. This game makes you think, though, how many games end with the culprit suffering what should be a lethal attack, and walking away with only minor injuries. In addition to this, there's also Haunted Carousel, and Haunted Mansion, and that's just in the first 9 games. How many more were there? Oh yeah, Lisa Ostrum probably should have been killed if the stair retracted while she was running down it.
Alibi in Ashes: Good game, but the premise was strained. Nancy isn't framed, exactly, she's just arrested on the basis of virtually no evidence (she was one of 5 or 6 people in the area at the time of the fire). She'd have been a Person of Interest at most, they'd never have arrested even an ordinary citizen based on that, much less a local celebrity.
Deadly Device: Like the Science setting, but the game felt a little too claustrophobic, and too much up and down in the elevator. Good game, though.
Message in a Haunted Mansion: Top tier. Maybe one of the one or two "scary" games that sort of is, because you see so many things out of the corner of your eye, and then aren't sure if you really saw them. As for Charlie, I ASSUME he had some happy ending or other. It goes without saying, so they don't even need to tell us what it was.
Warnings at Waverly: Good characters, lots of intrigue, one of the few games that nobody seems to dislike. Weak endgame, though (why on earth would the school have a working pendulum in the basement? Haven't they heard of detention?)
The Final Scene: One of the best, and one of the few with an actual sense of urgency, even though time doesn't actually advance until you hit the trigger points. Eustacia isn't as funny as she's supposed to be. Other games sometimes have clocks, but no deadline, and you can play for days or weeks of game time with nothing changing.
Blue Moon Canyon: It's funny that with Danger by Design, people complained that there was no crime until the end, but nobody minds that it happened in this game too. You do have to suspend a LOT of disbelief to think that the clues to this puzzle were scattered over a wide area a century ago, but Nancy can collect them all again easily. And I really didn't like making Lori a criminal at the last possible moment, just so we could say we had a culprit. Lori's crime was being a jerk, that's enough. This game would have been better if it had ended with no crime at all. The treasure hunt itself was the mystery. Overall, a great game, easily Top 10. But you're right. Charleena is dull. And unfortunately, this is one game where I hurt myself by playing the games out of order. For me the game only had two suspects. I knew Tino wasn't the culprit because I'd already played White Wolf. Charleena and the Hardys obviously weren't it either, so it was clear that as soon as there was a crime, Gray or Lori would commit it, whatever it was.
Curse of Blackmoor Manor: This is maybe the only house in England where the secret passages take up more space than the house itself. The meat of the game is the whole Penvyllyn family history, and the game scores there. The bit about every head of the family for centuries filling their house with puzzles to protect the same item is the eye-rolling moment in this one. But it is one of the best games in the series, and maybe the most iconic.
Treasure in the Royal Tower: It's funny how even the best games usually have some sort of eye-rolling "That couldn't possibly happen" bit that you have to ignore. In this case it's a) that they took an entire castle apart brick by brick and moved it to Wisconsin, and b) that they didn't find the diary when they did. If they had done this game later, it probably would have taken place in France, but for some reason they avoided letting Nancy leave the country until Blackmoor.
The Haunted Carousel: Already covered this in detail the other day, but it's near the bottom of my list. Joy is a joyless drip, the sci-fi subplot makes no sense, has nothing to do with the mystery, and is only there to pad the game, which is still too short even with it. And it feels really claustrophobic for an amusement park. Best part of it is the "You're Off the Case!" sequences, which I could watch any time. And burning down the hotel with the iron.
Secrets Can Kill Remastered: The original actually makes more sense in the setup. Nobody would call in an out-of-state teenage amateur to investigate a murder (Deadly Device suffers from this too). At least in the original, Nancy isn't called in by the Police or by the school, but by Aunt Eloise, and just snoops around on her own without any official sanction to do so. The original has more stupid (i.e. unintentionally funny) moments, like Juvenile Delinquent Nancy, and Darryl breaking her cover at every possible opportunity. ("How are you, oh Detective of my Heart?" Good thing he had no other customers to overhear.)
The point of the Remaster wasn't to make the game better, only to make it playable, since so many people couldn't play the original *at all* because the installation program doesn't work in 64-bit Windows. The thing is, you don't need the install program to play Secrets Can Kill. Just install it on a computer it works on, and you can copy all the files directly onto a Windows 10 system, and it runs. It would have been easier just to re-release the original game with a new installer program.

Games 4 and 5 were top tier plot and not too puzzle heavy that they felt bogged down. Game 9 onwards really piled on the puzzles. The Captive Curse is so underrated to me. It opens with a Monty Python joke, instant classic. Ghost Dogs was my first, so I love it but I understand your critque

This is an old video now but my favorite is Secret of the Scarlet Hand. I really enjoy the setting, it’s not a -practical- museum but it’s cool! I would have loved it as a kid. The game is very nostalgic for me and I like the Anthropology aspect (no surprise that’s what I got my degree in) and the Maya!? So cool! The end sequence is also tense, but the ending speech is weird LOL.

The final scene is my favorite of the games. Not only was it my first, it's just as good whenever I revisit it. I think it has the best soundtrack and the most fascinatingly interconnected story, and all the suspects have a solid motive. I love that the game just doesn't even try to redeem some of them, nope they just suck. It is the only game with a solid atmosphere and the voice acting is top notch, especially from Lani Minella. This is Nancy at her most stressed out, so she is very assertive and even somewhat aggressive at times. I really wish we saw this more in other games, as this is the only one that does suspense well and really gets the player's heart going. None of the other games come close, and while I like other ones a lot, that one has a special place in my heart.

STfD is a legitimately great first game. It's reasonably limited and formulaic (there's variety, but not too many places to go or things to do), the puzzles are intuitive and generally uncomplicated, and it's suspenseful without being frightening (except when Lillian calls and invites you to the studio for endgame -- the phone ringing gives me a heart attack every time). I think I would've given up if something like Blackmoor Manor was my first game, though maybe now that everyone has the internet, walkthroughs/playthroughs make that less of a concern.
The only downside is that you _can_ get hopelessly stuck, but I don't think it would happen to a new player. I suspect it was the result of playing one too many times, to where I started doing various things _way_ before I should have known to do them. (I think I diffused the bomb before I'd even met Rick in one playthrough.) I'd completed every task, hit every milestone, and clicked every corner, but nothing I could do would trigger Lillian's call.

12- Henry 😂❤️❤️ I love New Orleans so the setting is great
11- it will always be one of my top 3
10- pretty good, love Alexi (idk how to spell his name)
9- it’s good but not my top 10
    8- classic, love the nostalgia
7- one of my top 5
6- love the music, the environment, everything one of my top 3
5- can’t stand this one at all. The characters make me cringe so hard. Love the scenery but hate the characters except Frank and Joe
4- one of my top 3 ❤️ love the history, music, vibe, everything
3- love the music, love the environment, absolutely everything, top 5
2- first one I played too, it’s my top 5 for sure I love it so much, I adore theme parks so it makes me happy
1- I’m shocked that’s #1 but I understand bc you were in it lmao my #1 is prob Black Moor or Haunted Carousel
