StroboStomp HD has many advanced features, but out of the box comes ready for equal temperament tuning with no offsets. Simply plug in and tune. There is a learning curve when first using a strobe tuner, but it is easily overcome. We find most musicians don't go back to a different type of tuner after using a strobe and hearing the difference that the accuracy of strobe tuning provides. When setting the intonation on a guitar, should it be done with an equal temperament pitch preset, or the "sweetener" guitar preset? I'm guessing the instrument should be intonated with an equal temperament pitch preset, and then the sweetener preset compensates the guitar tuning to compensate for the quirks of standard guitar tuning issues.
Thank you for the question. Yes, you are correct. Always intonate an instrument using equal temperament (EQU). Our Sweeteners are designed to offset fractions of cents from an equal temperament base.
You may tune to E Flat in the EQU, equal temperament, by two ways. Tune down by one half step. The factory settings will show sharps, so you will see D# G# C# F# A# D#. This setting can be changed to Flats within the Settings Screen if you prefer flats. Or, you may use the Drop/Capo setting. This will work with any Sweetener value. Press the Menu Up or Down button until the Drop/Capo Setting Flashes, then click the Minus button once. You will see a -1 appear on the display. The tuner will now transpose by 1 half step. Tune to the usual E A D G B E, though your pitches will be Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Seems like something I'd get overwhelmed by trying to learn, but also something I'd love to have and to know how to use.

Yes it does. The StroboStomp HD comes with a 9v battery in the compartment. It will need to be unwrapped and connected on first use.
