I am going to finish MBBS and planning to leave this field, I would suggest people to not choose any healthcare related degree or field after 12th grade in this country, I curse myself everyday when i see my engineering friends having good salary with a peaceful desk based job whereas drs are treated like cheap labour in this country and the struggle to become a dr with good practice requires us to sacrifice 15-20 yrs of our lives, not at all worth the effort
Please don't leave MBBS. Grass always looks greener on the other side. But believe me there is lot of stress nowadays for an engineer and there plenty of burn out issues. You are doing MBBS and thank God for that. India needs lots of doctors especially those who practice modern medicine. Even if you open clinic, you will get steady income and also there will be no stress, and you will be happy working on your own terms. Only thing is you need to be empathetic to patients and have good communication skill. You will get a lot of respect in society. In our society there are only few professions whom people look up to.
@@nupuranand7238 they don't earn anything significant unless they are able to attract patients in their practise and running a successful practise requires us to sacrifice previous youthful years of our lives and even after that also patients can easily sue a Dr and they are always seen as villains, plus more than 75 percentage of drs have faced violence, it's extremely foolish if people think drs can earn money and have flexible working hrs in this country, drs arre working 70 to 100 hrs easily and they always have to be present near patients in emergency situation unlike other desk based job
As a practicing dentist problems starts with respect, no fair pay, even the senior dentists are taking advantage of juniors in practice. I have come across the incident just after graduation applied for a vacancy and i started working there. Was doing extractions as well. But after 1 month the senior lady dentist said that 1st month is trial and she can't pay. This can't be entertained. Even trainees in other sectors get fair minimum pay. Even after doing mds it takes years to get a stable income(fair income). Technology is advancing day by day and have to keep up with that. That also demands money but no returns. In conclusion only investment is happening but with no return

Hi, I wanted to share my grandmother’s experience with dentistry in the past. She struggled to communicate with dentists because she didn’t speak English or Hindi fluently, and instead of being patient or trying to understand her, they treated her very rudely. This has left her so traumatized that she’s now afraid to visit any dentist, even when she’s in pain. It’s heartbreaking to see how such experiences can have a lasting impact. I’m curious-how do you, as dental professionals, ensure that language barriers or communication challenges don’t lead to patients feeling disrespected or unheard? I think it’s an important topic to address, especially for elderly patients who may already feel vulnerable.
Right avg salary range is 12-15k for 2-3yr f exp . In clinic dey expect u to do everything in dt 15k Speciality is meaningless in private practice u can't survive by doing only one procedure
Bhaiyo 25k koi bhi purana quack bhi easily dene ko tayaar hai for half day agar aapko RCT aati hai, I m a bds, did a certificate courses in endo and oral surgery under experienced MDS professors of AIIMS, Delhi and KGMC, lucknow, now I run my own clinic, and at the same time I m visiting endodontist in 7 clinics in my city, even many dentist prefer to get treated by me, It's all depends on how much hard work you want to do and dentists will start approaching you for visits once your work starts speaking for you, dentist takes time to get fame as you do more and more successful cases, more value you generatefor yourself😊
If some one fails to join mbbs, please dont consider BDS as alternative. You can lead a decent living but certainly can't make money compared to other professionals.Practice won't grow but rather it will shrink due to various reasons. For the kind of efforts we put in, return is not satisfactory.

Main problem is with the dentist themselves. Bcoz dentistry is the only field where charges are actually decreased in many areas. I know many of my juniors who are taking charges less than what i was charging in 2012 or 2013. How can it is possible?? I mean even after almost 12 years charges of the dentistry is not increased that much but ya all the other charges have increased like sky rocket. Like salaries of your receptionist or assistant, electricity bill, dental material price, buying modern equipments, lab costs etc. if anyone is leaving dentistry or commits suiside than everyone one of us is responsible as we are so COWARD that we can not increase our charges just bocz we fear that we might lose tha patient. Those who are doing cheap dentistry in 2025 , are COWARDS.
@ thats true. And mostly dentist without any prior experience directly open hightec clinic with lastest equipments and they dont know how to fill proper class 2 cavities or remove infected root piece surgically. But charging less for the treatment is really becoming headache for everyone of us. Do you know any field or any branch in which charges are less than what it was 12 years ago?? It is the miracle which is only present in our dentistry.
@jigarpatel98980 yes because of unworthy dentists, dentistry is goig down the hill, many people think dentistry iss just like arts commerce,it demanda much more fine skills and manual dexterity
@ exactly. Thats the reason recently in one video some pt is saying dentists are not doctors. We are the one who are degrading our beautiful profession. Thats the reason even to my juniors i m telling to increse your skills and increse your treatment charges than only this field will survive in long run.
You are forgetting one very important thing , demand to supply. Dentists have become more in number than hair saloons. Whatever you learn will not work now . After few years even MBBS also may become same because donation has made every seat very easy. Private colleges are root cause of this , they take money and give degree.
There is no point in telling the clinic owners themselves are struggling. Then they should not hire dentists for a low pay. They should work themselves and create patient flow. Dentists are hiring other dentists on less pay scale in the name of training them ?? Only reason is supply is many times more than demand. If not you, then somebody else will do. Fact: dental students are not studying clinics in 5 years bds. They have to mug up several numerals like coefficient of thermal expansion, compression, flexion. Why?? They are busy learning and giving exams this way. Also wasting time on making dentures and all the other dental mechanic works. They are not going to do this outside college. No time to learn actual clinical handling and other public affairs related to patient retention and relationship.
Total private mbbs seat 50000 and bds seat 23000 the ratio is ( 2.2:1) Total govt mbbs seat 54000 and bds seat 4000 the ratio is 13.2:1 The main problem of dentistry is huge number of private bds seat thats make dentistry is disaster.
These days girls are expecting prospective grooms to have earnings above two lakhs......how will male dentists get married when they are still in marriageable age?/
prime reason z very limited scope >unemployemnt> underemployment> frustration> forced to shift to sumthng else for survival Dentistry shud hv bn PG subject after MBBS like ENT/OPTHAL but a complete separation & further sub-specialization(blindly jus coz dey hv gen path gen med radiology so do we oral path, oral med/radiology etc) made it worse. the scope is limited so much so dt dre wud b hardly 1% MDS who solely practise dere core speciality in private practise (dis z abt clinical dept fogt non-clinical) in contrary to medical speciality hw many pathologist/radiologist hv we seen doing gen. practise (its not dt dey can't reason z dey dont need) dey hv enough to do within dere own speciality unlike dental speciality r nothing but unnecessarily exaggration by making "EVERY SINGLE TREATMENT SPECIALITY"

Every field has become increasingly saturated!! Even in MBBS, many students aspire to go abroad to avoid the intense competition for NEET-PG and the impact of reservation policies. However, dentistry remains one of the most beautiful and rewarding specialties !!!! That said, the proliferation of dental clinics in a single locality often forces dentists to compete on pricing, which can compromise the quality of care !!! Additionally.., the quality of dental education has declined due to the rise of private colleges lacking proper infrastructure and training... Many graduates are inadequately skilled, struggling with basic procedures such as administering nerve blocks or performing extractions !!! The Dental Council of India (DCI) must take a more active role in addressing these issues. This includes shutting down substandard colleges and ensuring higher standards of education. Furthermore, promoting dental awareness in rural areas and implementing compulsory dental internships in villages can expose students to a wider variety of cases, improving their practical skills and making dental care more accessible to underserved populations !!!
This happens for 99% of neet aspirants who enter into BDS out of their will because they haven't secured a place in mbbs. I hope I could tell such candidates to not take up this degree because all they can do later in their lives is criticize about this artistic field, and thus increase saturation and competiton unnecessarily. Only those deserve to flourish in Dentistry who are passionate enough and have respect for what they're learning.

Sir I am a structural Engineer and my friend is a dentist she is preparing for the civil services exam and giving tough competition to us Engineers'😂 most of the recently passed out dentists are searching for better career opportunities.
It's very difficult to settle abroad after doing dentistry in India. Number of patient in India is very low due to lack of awareness and poverty. BAMS is still better than BDS. Dentistry success depends on Investment+skill+location+luck+social contacts+ family background+communication skills+patience of months to years depending on discussed factors. Every factor counts to become a successful dentist. In this profession the success rate is very low 5% and the growth slow. This opinion may vary based on their own experiences.
No dude BAMS are also protesting because there isn't any job. My friend was in BAMS and he literally cried after 2 years. He knew the future isn't that great. He tried again for MBBS and got a gov seat. Doesn't matter MBBS pays low and requires pg but you have too many high paying branches being left. Surgery isn't being picked up by toppers. So.. medical mai MBBS hi best hai. Nahi mile to graduation karo bsc mai aur gov jobs like RBI grade b, NABARD etc de do..
@FreakGUY-007 Agree with you dear! In the context of non clinical jobs like, clinical documentation, medical summarization, Medical Data analyst, Health insurance etc BAMS are preferred than BDS, that's why Mentioned that as per my personal experience. Rest you explained so well.

No.Not 9 to 2pm. From 9 to 10pm, without any leave of a day in a week. Salary 15 thousand that too after paying 75 thousand for a course of 6 months in the same clinic. And it's a tier 3 city with too many dentists. Government jobs are not there. Only contractual jobs are there. For contractual one post there are 200 applicants. One with 78% marks gets selected for 10 months only.
@pralkapatel358 I am talking about my daughter and her numerous colleagues and friends. She is graduate from prestigious dental college in 2022. She is skilled and popular among her patients but yes this is the scenario. Even MDS gold medalist with 10 years of experience had applied for contractual post this year with 40000 salary in remote village and didn't get selected .I am not offended but this is the sad reality. May be you are talking about student life then yes in student life timing is 8 to 4 or 5pm or may be your friends are lucky to be in job with this timing. Yes, there is no comparison between dentist and medical doctors as far as it's about stress and timing . Medical doctors have to face lot more stress and go through sleep less nights.
My bro is dentist ,he earns a very handsome income , he is a full time working partner with some hospital and he is well settled. 1.5 lakh per month earns . We live in z group city so cost of living is very very less. So that salary is very high for that city.

😢Everyone feels the same. Even my engineering colleagues say the same😢 The fact is the grass is NOT greener on the other side. But that's how this world is wired up😂 Those who work for a living will just struggle to make enough for a living (add insurance😢 + McD / KFC + travel; if earning on a higher side). Those who are making money on a higher+++ side will be those who play with your money (or run satta bazaar on your work). Anyways in ANY profession (especially Actors, Lawyers, Doctors.....) *the top 10% will rake in the 90% of the money* rest 90% will fight for the 10% of the cake😢😢
As a medical practitioner i feel that new people don't want to go into the interior . Second there is lots of saturation in this field Third is over pricing for the patients
I did my mba in 2019 one of my course mate was dentist with govt college he was saying you max out at 60k or something.. but he struggled even after getting corporate job as he had limited skills. Not familiar with technology. So yeah sad
I have done pg diploma in emergency medicine after BDS. After this 40000 course I'm earning 60 k plus per month working in hospital in NICU, PICU as duty doctor. As well as from my clinic but my clinic earnings are still 10000 to 20000 per month after 10 year practice... May be due to poor marketing.
Every profession has its own fair share of problems. Just keep learning new skills and from mistakes. If you don't get misled by negative and discouraging views of other people and manage to run your career as a dentist for a few years everybody will succeed for sure✌🏻

Sir it's not a disrespect to work in palliative medicine. Only mbbs and bds are allowed to work in palliative medicine. And it's a government hospital with regular yearly increment. Salary is much more than what you are saying. Do a proper research sir. It's completely medical. You all bloggers advice to go in various non clinical fields MBA pharma and all. Palliative is completely medical. Seniors pay 10-15k because they themselves are struggling as u said in the video. Why it's an issue if someone is earning more than a senior without any investment and that too in a medical field.
Bds is a very good field i m a bams graduate just got my permanent filling..its a art and very good profession ..its medicine with art..i love dentistry..
Don't agree with this because even after so much investment in dentistry there are no returns . Atleast in job we know we will get fixed income . Its difficult in the initial stage but it becomes harder as we become senior since newly passed do in less price. Also not everyone can afford to open a clinic soo it's better if they are getting a job and fixed monthly income rather than waiting for patients to come .
If you are a *Male* and not a second generation dentist or, a dentist without a medical background (parents, brother, father-in-law etc), Then you have a very hard time ahead (Nightmare). It's practically impossible to start from basics without proper networking and connections, if you live in and around a metro city. Without network, even non-paid jobs/attachments are not possible.
Dear freshers, In any profession if you go behind money, u will not get success But if you spend time in improving skills and knowledge , money follows you Dentistry or any medical field needs experience and efficiency to treat patients which freshers lack initially so it takes patience n dedication to continue learning n improvise your skills. If not mds , u can try doing courses and become confident, and then negotiate your salary ✨ Own clinic is less lucrative initially but its best in long term🙌
people running away from this profession lies elsewhere.most hv taken paid seats and hv spent 20-25 lacs in fees itself.and starting clinic is very costly as equipment are costly especially chair.and then pay out is very less after overhead.Even job doesn't pay much.Even ENT has same issue.
India me bahut sare log daat hi nahi ghiste, dental hygiene dur ki baat hai. Aur dentist bahut paise lootte hai, very very expensive. People fridnly professiona banao, fir logo ko ane me maja ayega
Thanks Dr.Abhishek but unfortunately I am totally disagree as you explained about career jn dental practice,As you already mentioned that employer who has hiring fresh bds can't give good salary because employer already not getting good amount in his practice and even as you mentioned about dental implant and other small courses so first you reply me as a bds how any general dentist can do dental implant and even many other specialized work because that all works and implants also a big controversial matter in between post graduates mds.So please do not give false hope,General dentist neither getting good salary nor respect if you will compare with any other profession which regarding you discussed.

Dr, earn huge amount and fringes as referrals,,, comfortable working hours,,, They earn a lot from Pharma companies,,,
@@nupuranand7238 they don't earn anything significant unless they are able to attract patients in their practise and running a successful practise requires us to sacrifice previous youthful years of our lives and even after that also patients can easily sue a Dr and they are always seen as villains, plus more than 75 percentage of drs have faced violence, it's extremely foolish if people think drs can earn money and have flexible working hrs in this country, drs arre working 70 to 100 hrs easily and they always have to be present near patients in emergency situation unlike other desk based job
😂 he is just saying that, he is not doing MBBS.

Being a Dental Surgeon I can feel the pain😢
This is a very important concern! We should all strive to treat patients with empathy and respect, regardless of language barriers.
Agree 👍
First there used to be one dental clinic in the area. Now there is a dental clinic in every 100 metres.

See whoever leaving dentisty let them leave no worries for dentistry becos they dont hav patience ....
In dentistry when we have patience we wil get patients ....
Always start dentistry with basic treatments not with any expensive treatments ...
Give treatment wat patient exaclty needed first dont explain everything which is too expensive for them ....
Every profession has merits n demerits .... No profession has 100 %succes rate ...
Proud to be dentist
Work hard n learn things properly in dentistry after that money n all wil come ....

Bang on...to the point
Because majority of dentists ate underconfident in their skills
In Bombay if you rent a clinic then it's difficult to earn any profit at all
You are forgetting one very important thing , demand to supply.
Dentists have become more in number than hair saloons.
Whatever you learn will not work now .
After few years even MBBS also may become same because donation has made every seat very easy.
Private colleges are root cause of this , they take money and give degree.
Yes, it's a tough situation.
You can earn a decent living but it will not be worth the efforts we put in this profession
This z one f de best comment on Dentistry I hv read so far
Agreed..100%
Total private mbbs seat 50000 and bds seat 23000 the ratio is ( 2.2:1)
Total govt mbbs seat 54000 and bds seat 4000 the ratio is 13.2:1
The main problem of dentistry is huge number of private bds seat thats make dentistry is disaster.
Patience, hardwork, good behaviour, honesty and luck ,apna time aayega 😂
These days girls are expecting prospective grooms to have earnings above two lakhs......how will male dentists get married when they are still in marriageable age?/

You get admission for BDS even with low NEET marks even in General category. So there is huge OVERSUPPLY
prime reason z very limited scope >unemployemnt> underemployment> frustration> forced to shift to sumthng else for survival
Dentistry shud hv bn PG subject after MBBS like ENT/OPTHAL but a complete separation & further sub-specialization(blindly jus coz dey hv gen path gen med radiology so do we oral path, oral med/radiology etc) made it worse.
the scope is limited so much so dt dre wud b hardly 1% MDS who solely practise dere core speciality in private practise (dis z abt clinical dept fogt non-clinical) in contrary to medical speciality hw many pathologist/radiologist hv we seen doing gen. practise (its not dt dey can't reason z dey dont need) dey hv enough to do within dere own speciality unlike dental speciality r nothing but unnecessarily exaggration by making "EVERY SINGLE TREATMENT SPECIALITY"
No issues if anyone wants to leave career, practicing dentist will take care of more patient and charge heavy fees

Exactly bro
Exactly. These people are so much depressing and misleading too
Every field has become increasingly saturated!!
As per an approx. Rough estimate .... there are more than double dentists in city areas than required 200% oversupply.
If seats are there anyone will join even if neet students not join
I have never seen anyone passionate about Dentistry. Lol

If you are a *Male* and not a second generation dentist or, a dentist without a medical background (parents, brother, father-in-law etc),

Seriously no jobs in private and govt sector. Request you govt make proper step. Up tho medicine branch BDS meh khulna chaiye 😢 ...
Nothing improvement will occur in the near future in the field of dentistry Brother, and no one will support us. The govt will never take the issues in dentistry seriously, so its better try to find some other path.

Changing profession:
They are taught something that is not the CURE OF DISEASE because what is taught is completely away from reality.
My story, I had a loose tooth, not able to chew and painful.
Went to a 1st dentist with 30 years of experience who said that tooth will have to be removed.
Went to a 2nd Dentist with 20 years of experience who said that tooth will have to be removed.
Went to a 3rd Dentist with 5 years of experience, same advise.
Than went to another who gave antibiotic and after 14 days the tooth got refixed and this was in 2022, till date the tooth has not given any issue
