When I was putting together 'entry level' race bikes for folks, I would figure 'half of retail top shelf' for one assembled from spares, Ebay, shop closeouts, and 'last year's model', so if the top of the line Specialized Epic S-works was $5k (actual sale price) I could build something similar (i.e., 'competitive with') for $2500. When end of year closeouts were available, Big S would sell the same model for $3750- 4200. That's for parts and assembly, with nothing for the time spent hunting.
World Cup factory teams should have a no holds barred bike as it is the top of the mountain and I'm fine with whatever the price is. For me, the Ghost Girls' bikes are my favorite and it's not even close.
Scott is so expensive because of syncros silverton wheels fully carbon rims, spokes and also hubs... Nino didnt use them all the time, because that wheels are so stiff. Price of them are 4000 euro.. Hes using syncros silverton but cheaper ones for 2500 euro. Other brands wheels are arround 2500euro too, so that spark is little bit cheaper.
XC racers are letting prices get out of hand like Roadies. I can see paying big money for more bike but spending that on a bike that's basically nothing that you can't even send hard just doesn't make sense
My bike wasn't in the list so I think I never will win a race. 😅 I also think that a lot comes from the rider and not the bike. The bike suits you or not. But on that level with a lot of money they can make the bike fit to the rider.
You want a "cheap" pro level bike off the shelf? You will get crap components with a huge price tag. $9000 is not good value unless you are rich.. Relatively good value for you guys at gmbn not the average guy. Xc pro bikes have never been cheap and will never be cheap. The reason they are so expensive is because sponsored pros ride them and marketing bullshit. The bikes are actually not worth the price.. So it's pointless.
It's pronounced "chaw-yang" my guy and how tf did "berd" became "beard" holy sht you're making things complicated! Bring back anna and doddy for every video please
You forgot a small Taiwanese startup called Giant 😂
Love the video, would be great to continue with this idea and look at the EDR and WC Downhill bikes.
Great pairing, love it chaps 🔥
N1NO's Spark is a work of art
Forget Pros; a competitive Junior racer starts with...
2- quality rear wheels with tires (4); $1200 + one front @ $400= $1600 (home built- really!)
Quality drivetrain, spares and crank/bb; $950 minimum...
Saddle/post/bottles/tool/helmet, etc.; $600
Bar(s)/stem(s)/Grips/etc.; $300
Fork/headset/etc.; $800+
......which comes to $4250 *without* a frame! 😧😬

Add about 2 grand for the Lab71 version

Where is the Cervelo? And how many dentists are required to pay for a top level Cervelo?
Why the White shoes and socks😫

Didn't know I was looking for a car
Cars are way more expensive than bikes dumb dumb.
Idk what happened to Michelin's MTB division but they lost the plot, they used to be Maxxis
14k for Tom Pidcocks bike, and he still manages to loose due to a flat tire. Looks like INEOS needs to spend more on tire tech.

4:01 That is the worst attempt at pronouncing "Chaoyang" that I've ever heard
XC bikes are weird animals, perfectly demonstrating the law of diminishing returns.
XC racers are even weirder tho
But they will mostly out ride the full face 180mm full body armour brigade on any terrain... :)
Expensive does not mean better phi
Yes, it does. You get what you pay for with bikes.
