One of the things that made Vin Scully the greatest broadcaster of all time was that he knew when to talk, he knew what to say, and he knew when to be quiet. This video demonstrates all three.
    RIP Vinny.

I can’t get enough of this. I won a single ticket to the game and was in right field that night about 15-20 ft away from where Gibson’s ball dropped. It was an unbelievable night! Still gives me chills.

I watched it in real time on TV in New York City and have watched this replay dozens of times. It never gets old. RIP Vin Scully.

My father was heartbroken when he found out his sister (my Tia), passed away back in Feb this yr. Then he finds out about Vin Scully's passing and he was devastated. I sat next to him, gave him a hug, and I told him "Look on the bright side dad, Tia is now hanging out with Tommy Lasorda and Vin Scully." R.I.P to a TRUE ICON! R.I.P Vin Scully! You will be missed! 😥

I wasn’t born yet when this man was announcing playoff games (I was born in 2000), but he is my favorite to listen to when rewatching 80s playoff games. His voice is like no other and he knew when to be quiet during powerful moments like this. RIP to one of the best announcers the game has ever had.

This man and his voice are synonymous with baseball to me.
I grew up in SoCal in the 1980s and I was an eleven-year-old Dodgers fanatic during that '88 series. I used to watch them and the (at the time) California Angels - on TV, on the radio, and on the best occasions, in the park, with my dad and grandfather.
It says something about his impact that he was inducted into the Baseball HoF thirty-four years before his retirement. Shedding a tear and pouring one out for a true legend who was part of my life.

I see Kirk Gibson 2-3 times a week at golf course. I cut fairways. Sometimes we chat. He usually plays alone, very early, an old warrior moving more slowly and deliberate. His golf swing is the same as his baseball swing.
    He is a heroic figure.

One of the best part of this video is at 06:45 when the car in the parking lot hits its brakes and the driver just realizing he missed witnessing one of the great moments in World Series history. You know someone in that car is yelling "YOU JUST HAD TO LEAVE EARLY!"

Loved Gibby when he played for Detroit. Sparky telling Kirk Goose didn't want to walk him, Gibby proceeds to take Goose yard. Another iconic moment for Kirk Gibson. Clutch hitter

I was 17 watching that. The second I saw Dick Williams go back to the dugout I knew Gibby would go yard. Gossage lost his mystique when he left the pinstripes to go work for McDonald's.

The home run replay alone doesn’t do justice to this at bat. It was quickly 0-2 , and Eck was nearly unstoppable in his prime. Amazing moment. As a Red Sox fan, I was thrilled. The A’s embarrassed the Sox in the ALCS.

I just look at his stats and I can’t believe how many stolen bases he had and the success rate. I didn’t know he was a shortstop or a small fast dude I thought he was like 215 tall guy. Weird. Of course I was just a young kid when this happened so he could’ve looked like a giant among men.

Basically set the tone for the entire series. The call, the fact that Gibson could barely play and somehow did it (and then didn't for the remainder of the series), etc.
