- Since you lot won’t stop asking for it, here’s how I tune my balisongs. If u want some good advice, go watch a proper modders tutorial.
If ur gonna call me wrong and tell me how I should do it instead, save your breath, this works for me.
As always, any recommendations for video ideas leave them in the comments

Very helpful vid. One thing i learned is if you measure the thickness of the blade where the bushings sit then add .0012" (or the metric equivalent) that should be the proper bushing length or at least very close.
Thanks for the info
is this still accurate?
@@mommymilkers8609don't see why it wouldn't be
i'll need this video for when i actually get a bali
44❤llll))
OH MY GOD THANK YOU I AM SUPER SENSITIVE TO TAP SO I JUST COULDNT ENJOY MY LDY CORVUS BUT NOW IT'S FIXED THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad it could help. I also hate the tap so fixing it is the first thing I do with every balisong I get
Thanks man it really works, my balisong had the bushings a little big and I didn't know what to do but thanks to your video I solved the problem
Ayyy im glad to hear it helped man
@@CloneSupport I have a small question, is it currently advisable to buy a clone of the Rep of baliplus or theone?
Been waiting a long time and its finally here (the tutorial). Thanks!
Yep. It took a long time for the rep clone to arrive that’s why
I've been having some trouble putting my baliplus kraken back together because the zen pins are press fit. I am unable to slide the washers in as the space is so tight. Any tips on how to open up the handles? As always, great job on the video!
i hear everyone saying this about the b+ kraken. Make sure your bushing is tuned properly so that you can actually slide the washers in. also try opening up the space by using a flathead screwdriver to pry open the gap
@@CloneSupport Thank you so much man!
I would use a torqs bit and put it in the hole and bang it around a little till it aligns
why are you here💀
Really useful tutorial, thank you a lot!
Glad it helped
Ive been waiting long for this video
I had to wait a while for the rep to tune
Great tutorial, quick question, what micrometer do you use? I know you said not to buy one, but I’m really into tuning balisongs and I was looking to pick one up myself.
|I dont know the brand, but any from a reputable company will be more than enough. It does definately help
idk if im just stupid or not but my bali had 0 play when I got it and developed it fairly quickly. my understanding is that with cheap and ductile hardware, use will deform the bushings and/or washers, creating space and allowing the handles to wiggle. wouldn't the only fix for that be using washers and bushings made of tougher/harder materials so that they don't deform and retain their tolerances? i just don't see how making the washers smaller could possible fix an issue that arises from there already being too much space between the blade and the handles.
with a sandwich design, it makes sense because you can bring the sides of the handles closer together but with a channel design it just seems like making the washers thinner will only make the issue worse??
- id like to add that obviously it does work bc you just did it but I just don't understand how, it seems to go against everything I've learnt in my engineering course lmao
Wait no youre not making the washers thinner, you are making the bushing thinner if it is oversided. Yours sounds like the washers are getting worn from use, the best fix for that would be new washers. What i did was sand the bushing to bring the washers closer to the blade and reduce the tolarance so that there would be less of a gap. This means less movement in the pivot system and less tap and play
@@CloneSupport ohhhh right, that makes a lot more sense haha, cheers man
when you measure the width of the blade shouldnt you include the width of the washers? Wont the washer not be wide enough to support the blade if it doesnt stick out both ends of the washers? You didnt account for that so im confused, wont the bushing be undersized if you sand to that value?
Hi there! I think you are talking about a floating washer system (one where the bushing goes through the washers and contacts the handles) in this case, yes, measure the washers as well and account for them. This video is for standard systems where the washers sit on the bushing so you want a tiny bit more than the blade (+0.001in/0.02mm) just enough to allow washers to contact the bushing and not put too much force on the blade
ah i see, thank you!@@CloneSupport
Very useful and well explained video :D
I do have one question doe: Can I reuse the washers if I have to do multiple tries in tuning? I disassembled my Nabalis Vulp and changed the Washers and after cleaning and all and lubing again and so forth I put it together again but now I think that the factory bushings are a bit undersized especially my bite handle one as I cannot fully tighten the screws without it almost completely stopping to swing. Very noticeable with the bite handle, safe handle is better but it still applies I guess? Is this a case of undersized bushing or do I get something wrong?
Anyways as I would have to disassemble it again can I still use the "new" pairs of washers? Because I only had enought for one replacement in the package. Bushings would be no problem as I have to replacements that I can sand down.
Yes you can reuse washers that’s ok, as long as you don’t damage them when taking it apart and putting back together. Also for the binding, if you put new washers in, sometimes they take a little bit of time to “break in”. Oil them up and just try to flip it about for 15-30 mins to see if the swing improves. If it’s still binding then yes, the bushing is probably undersized
I have a question, i had applied blue loctite to the screws when i noticed one of the screws was still loose. When i tried to take it out the other side would spin with the screw, how can i remove the loctite to be able to take the screw out?
Try adding heat with a hairdryer, it might be enough to loosen the locktite
Trying to tune my baliplus rep but it binds when all the way tightened down. The bushings look perfect and fit fine so I think it could be the washers. Lmk if you can help
Binding will be due to 2 things, bushings being too small or pinching when the handle are not perfectly parallel. Try removing the zen pin screws when tuning and then putting them in finger tight afterwards
Nail file! Never thought of that. I guess why not
If it works, it works
no matter how much i tune my bushing of my kraken as it still have EXTREME TAP and still have free swing
I would definitely recommend you get a set of calipers to measure down to the nearest 0.001 inches. This way you can make sure they are correctly sized. Also, think about changing the washers, old worn washers can cause tap even if the bushing is tuned correctly
So basically If i tight the pivots on my Falcon by TheOne completly and the handle doesent free swings that means that the bushing is undersized?
Yes
@@CloneSupport alright
Cause that means that the bushings of my Mako v4.5 are undersized:(
@@Seprauntthe mako is a washer Balisong
Finally!Ty
holy hell good timing
Why’s that?
Just ordered a baliplus rep from aliexpress. Really hope it actually arrives
It will do, it might just take a while
@@CloneSupport Yeah. It says it’s estimated to arrive around 27th october. But im expecting it to take longer
@@tbone1020 It ususally takes 15-30 days. The estimated delivery is never accurate. They always do that because they dont want the customer to open a Dispute after 30 days
@@tbone1020 from experience it’s usually around 4 weeks but it depends on the seller
@@CloneSupport I ordered from a store called butterfly knife store. People on reddit said they were suppost to be good. I also live in sweden so I would'nt be suprised if it took a bit longer than a month.
What to do about blade rub on one side? like the front face of the blade doesnt touch the handle but the other overlaps a lot, no amount of changing the brass bits seems to fix but the bushing doesnt seem oversized anymore
Is it a clone? It could be a bent blade, there’s not too much to do about that
I'd avoid squids titanium hardware if you're using a steel bit. As it will strip really easy
It’s fine for me
had to dremel slots in squids titanium to back them out since hardened wiha bits annihilated them in my ab, stainless hardware now
An undersized bushing can be fixed I’ll post the link
Please do. The only way I’ve seen is sanding a washer to act as a spacer but it really doesn’t work that well
yo thanks
Hope this helps
I have a bali + replicant. is there a link for the squid hardware you can slide my way for it? thanks so much!
Just go on the squid industries website and click hardware 😭.

@@CloneSupport thanks man. I know it's kinda a dumb question but I'm still super new to the hobby so I just didn't know where to go or what to buy. Thank you for your patience!
how do u think hour glass kukri rep blade would fit with the squid indutries kraken hardware?
I honestly have no idea but if it’s made for the rep then idk if it’ll fit the kraken
@@CloneSupport does the Blade of ir rep hits the spacers?
@@anonimos__flips4878 mine doesn’t
I don't understand I still have tap
What screwdriver does the rep use?
This rep is on squid screws so T10
Bro i love men!!!
Damn same
you didnt really touch on tightening zen pins. Do you just crank them down?
Sorry i completely forgot. For Zen pins you want to make sure the pivots are fully tightened with good swing first and then crank the zen pins as much as possible. If this causes poor swing then back the zen pin out untill the swing is fixed and then loctite it in place
@@CloneSupportI know I'm a bit late, but
So, when checking if the bushing is oversized or undersized you don't tighten the Zens all the way, correct?
@@Brozi with zens it can be more complicated. I don’t tighten zens when testing because sometimes over tightened zens can cause binding.
@@CloneSupport yeah, I noticed that. Either way, I measured the bushing and found out it's slightly oversize, so I'm gonna have to sand it a bit. How much do you think the difference should be? My knife is Atropos kirat bro.
@@Brozi 0.001” -0.005” wider than the blade. I try to do 0.001” but if you are not confident then aim for 0.003”
How do you know if an bushing is oversized?
It balisong will tap
@@CloneSupport you mean it will still have tap after u screwed the pivots completly ?
@@Sepraunt yea
@@CloneSupport alright
How fix under 😭😭😭
They need to be replaced
how do i know what number to tune it to?
Measure the thickness of the blade and then go a little higher
@@CloneSupport ok thx
I can’t get the tap out of my nami clone
Are the screws as tight as they can be?
@@CloneSupport yes they are and I’ve also tried to tune bushings but no
Matter how little I take off it ends up binding
@@benbenavides9792 they were probably undersized to begin with
@@CloneSupport they wernt tho.. I could crank down all the way and not have them bind.. they don’t exactly bind but swing then it gets rough and stops and no
Matter how hard I crank down.. even with an undersized bushing I get tap
@@benbenavides9792 see if you can find thicker washers in the spare hardware. These might be enough to reduce the tap. But tbh it’s baliplus so it might be quite hard to get tap out of that balisong
