Nina is so humble. Even though she is the shit she doesn't act like her. Her smile is so shy and real. When I met her, I told her I listened to their music everyday and she stopped what she was doing and looked me right in the face like a 5 year old and said thank you, I really appreciate that. It was the cutest thing and I love them so much.
Omg I no idea they were on here too! It’s not very often you see people from San Antonio on platforms like this. It’s amazing to see even this video being about 9 years old. Girl in a Coma was/is a huge stable in the San Antonio music scene.
i love these npr tiny desk concerts. they have such an array of artists... bands like girl in a coma and noah and the whale, to people like macklemore and adele! it's awesome.
I've listened to these songs a million times already. But listening to "So" acoustically blew my mind! Just another reason why Girl In A Coma is my favorite band!! They make me proud to be from San Antonio!
I love this band. NPR is where I discovered them a few years ago. This acoustic set is really nice. You can get a sense of the raw power of their usual electric setup--which totally rocks. I also enjoy their unique takes on older songs.
I had the chance to see GIAC several years ago in SW Oklahoma. They opened for Joan Jett and I thoroughly enjoyed their music. The three musician rock/alt format is difficult to pull off but they did it. After they played they were in the back of the auditorium selling CDs, signing posters (I got one), and dancing to Joan Jett rocking out. Very nice, down to earth girls. If I get the chance I'll see them again!
right before their show here, outside the venue in an alley behind their infamous van, i saw Nina smoking a cig.. best believe i ran to her and hugged her so much!!
More like "Boy In a Coma" ....I could listen to that beautiful music all day. I finished three more pages in my book, listening and inspired by your music. Thank you.
I've watched a lot of these tiny desk concerts but i must have never seen this one before.i don't know what there records sound like, and I'm not sure i would buy one,but some of the comments here seem way of to me there is nothing wrong with the way this girl sings the instrumentation is simple but that's not necessarily a bad thing.these girls should keep doing what they do as they do it well.
One of the managers sent a homemade demo tape to Morrissey music director Boz Boorer; after hearing it, Boorer invited the trio to London to record its first demo
One of those bands that should have made it big. :(

Love this rhythm section on this (w/out drums)...real clean and driving. Dig it!
See them live. Nina burns with an intensity few gurl rockers on the scene today can come anywhere near matching. She's breathtaking!

First song reminds so much of 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins, I had to pause as soon as the vocals came in, as they also kinda reminded me of Billy Corgan
One of the managers sent a homemade demo tape to Morrissey music director Boz Boorer; after hearing it, Boorer invited the trio to London to record its first demo
