7:30 Dutch engineers actually did propose some ideas to tackle the flooding problem in the US. But US citizens think that the costs are to high and prefer rebuilding every time over and over again. When you sum all those times up it will actually become more expensive in total instead of one single expensive project to safe the cities for good.

Yes, German wolves. Germany is larger and less populated, they managed to have some wolf packs in the wild. When those packs grow larger, each year a handful of young wolves is looking for a new home and a partner.
There was a lot of discission about wolves and sheep. The Germans have high fences and two sturdy dogs to keep their sheep safe. Well, in the Netherlands most fixed fences were taken away, for open landscape reasons. Sheep are kept behind low fences. No match for a wolf. Should wolves be behind a fence, in a nature reserve? Or should the farmers protect their sheep and claim when a wolf had a lamb sandwich? And how about safety of our small children? A lot of discussion for a few wolves. Can't blame farmers they don't like wolves. For nature, a wolf pack could be very good. Question is, how to solve the problems. It'll be okay, I don't think park rangers will grow a pack of hungry wolves, feeding on surprised tourists.

Dutch tech is actually very famous around the world, albeit not always known to be Dutch.
Our water technology is being sold worldwide with examples like all those islands on the coast of Dubai, shaped like a palm tree and such (yes Dubai had waaay too much money on their hands lol we're not cheap :P) Also they are helping the New Orleans area to fix their flooding and aged water network problems. (could be put on hold under current political influences, am unsure on that, cause.. again.. we not cheap, our national knowledge comes at a price)
We are active all over the globe in water management in any way or form, even if something impossible needs to be salvaged from the sea, its often a Dutch crew doing it.
And i am not even going to mention the same kind of know-how in agriculture, science, technology and transportation we are part of globally, in detail, because that would make this posting a lot longer hehehe

One thing that makes the Netherlands such a big economic power even though they're such a small country is the trading culture. Most European countries are self-sustaining if they have to. Like they can grow all the food they need on their own soil and have been able to do this for centuries. When the roman empire fell, the whole of Europe was chaos, there was no higher military power to protect anyone so there were a lot of dangerous bandits and small wars between elite houses to gain power. In that time basically all of Europe went into lockdown with self-sustaining villages trying to protect themselves. All of Europe except the Netherlands that is, because the Netherlands was not able to be fully self-sustaining they were the only country that kept trading with the rest of Europe. So when the whole of Europe stood still in development and economical power, the Netherlands actually grew in power and technology. This basically created the trading culture because we know we need others to succeed. (This was a rough explanation of our history, it's been a while since I had history class)

Prince Willem van Oranje was not a king but a Stadtholder (more a military leader).
The governmental power was with the Parliament and the Raadspensionaris (leader of the government like nowadays Prime Minister).
In 1814 Willem V became Willem I King of the Netherlands and that included Belgium and Luxemburg, at that time.
Later the Belgians revolted in 1839 and France came to their aid.
Originally The Kingdom of 1814 was made this large to have a more "powerfull" nation north of France.

Ayreon Universe Live (Floor Jansen and Marko Hietale from Nightwish among several other well known musicians.
The electric castle live and other tales (Simone Simons and Mark Janssen from Epica among several very well know musicians.
Scarlet Stories is a new band. There are connections with Ayreon.
    The Gathering.
I live in the dry part of the Netherlands.
Very strange to hear how little Americans know about the Netherlands (and Europe).
We learned more about the Americas than you about Europe.
I speak Dutch, German, English, a little bit of French and a few Dutch dialects.
Clogs are ideal to keep your feet warm. Most people don’t wear them especially not outside.
Most Dutch names and words are pronounced wrong. Gouda was ok.
Since Trump the friendship with the US has cooled down as with almost every other European country.
