Yes you can do that. PLAB 2 exam is very similar to a busy GP setting. Although the PLAB 2 preparation course is quite sufficient for you to gain these skills.

1. Yes you can
2. There is no limit to that

You don’t have rights to work in U.K. in hospital setting without being on a Tier 2 visa

Hello I have one question.. does this clinical elective and FY2 after plab 2 goes along? Like after gmc registration i need to apply for NHS FY2 right? So when do I apply for this clinical elective. I also do it in surgery.

You can apply for it at any time whenever you have few weeks to dedicate to it. Usually, it is after your PLAB 2 exam while you are in the U.K. applying for jobs or while you are in your medical college.

What advantage can I get from electives as international medical student in the UK?
For example can I get training or improvement in
- history taking
- physical examination
- other aspects of interacting with patients

Yes. It will give you more confidence in these aspects of patient management.

I will try to take do an electives here so that I can take advantage of my time.

It is similar conditions for most of the IMGs working in the U.K. Be optimistic and try to utilise your time focusing on betterment of your CV.

You can write a short email stating your interest in the specialty and whether the consultant would like to supervise you during your duration of attendance.
