I have asked him to react to the Woodstock video of them singing I Put A Spell On You...I spent 3 days at Woodstock celebrating my 18th birthday. Best 3 days of my life and was soooo blessed to have seen CCR live, along with Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin..The video is dark but they performed it around 1 in the morning....Hope he does...

Fun part about being an American; a whole different culture is available to you just a state away for you to freely travel to and appreciate at your leisure. Well,... for now.
I love watching you find the origin of a song! I'm a Blues fan to the core of my soul. I'm also the strangest CCR fan ever. They obviously sang Delta Blues and did it so well, their music will endure forever...but they're from California and that's so weird! (How do they know how we grew up and felt about it? How do they understand Blackwater and paddle-wheelers and porch sittin?) I grew up with ccr and it still seems odd lol. They did so many "swamp songs" in a time when only us swamp folk understood it that, in the Rock genre, they're still the best that ever did it.
Don't worry, Deanna, I'm an ol' lady from, & still in west Texas & have loved CCR from the first time I heard them - "swamp songs" & all. (ahem, poor thangs, they can't help being from Cali.- lol)

John Fogerty is a great songwriter, singer and all around dude. Please check out his music after CCR when he went solo. THE OLD MAN DOWN THE ROAD is the perfect song to get a taste of his solo career and get a firm grasp of who gave CCR their special sound. The song CENTERFIELD is also just a fun summer song.
CCR single-handedly invented what was called "swamp rock". It was a taut, which had elements of white country and southern white funk distilled into energetic three-minute singles. He and his group were inspired by the "redneck bluecollar country" and black " funk and soul" music of the time. Like Elvis...he took what he liked from both sides and mixed it. His parents were from the rural midwest, and Montana- he was born in Southwest Cali, but he immersed himself in southern artists growing up.
Hi, yes you found the original version by the original band and singer. So glad you like ALL the Creedence music. If you look at the Chronicle album, it is their 20 greatest hits. And you will love them all, and you will probably recognize most of them..... do Traveling Band next. 2 minutes of burning rock and roll, my dad Tom Fogerty and my Uncle John Fogerty tribute/homage to LITTLE RICHARD..... love your reactions sir....... Not bad for four kids from El Cerrito, California huh? One of my all time favorite bands, its just sad that they had such a tumultuous existence after producing such fantastic music.
The train that provided the title of this song got its name because it departed Jackson, Mississippi at 12:05 a.m. on Sunday mornings, arriving at Parchman Prison, 130 miles to the north, at dawn. The prison, also known as Parchman Farm (or more formally, Mississippi State Prison), was on thousands of acres of land, where the inmates did hard labor. While they worked, they would sometimes sing about the Midnight Special, which brought visits from friends and family, so for conjugal visits, the first of their kind.
You should definitely react to their songs Lodi, Long as I Can See the Light and Lookin Out My Back Door. They were my mom's favorite band, and we played one of their songs when my mom passed away earlier this year. It's a joy to see you discover them!
This is the music my dad listened to, and he passed down his love of Rock and Southern Rock down to me. I've been listening to CCR since I was 5 years old. Thank you, this brings back so many great memories and it makes me miss my Daddy. My favorites have always been "Bad Moon Rising" and "Suzie Q."

Creedence wrote this song and stops doing it on tour. Somebody told them that they better start doing it again or everyone's going to think that Tina wrote it. And to this day people still think that it's a Tina tune. Remember Creedence did it first
Randy Travis the man who saved country. Deep baritone voice. Get on him before its too late. "1982" "Three wooded crosses" "walked on water" list could keep going and going

I like both versions tremendously. Ike and Tina made it their own and it's always so fun to watch the live performance with Tina and the Ikettes dancing to it too. Classic as classic gets!
Don't feel too bad, Ike Turner was a great songwriter. In fact, Ike Turner wrote the first-ever Rock 'n' Roll song, "Rocket 88" featuring Jackie Brenston singing lead.
Another band you will love, so funky, is Jamiroquai. “Virtual insanity”, “space cowboy”, “little l”, “canned heat”, “alright”, “you give me something”, “cosmic girl”, “love foolosophy” 👍

One thing is obvious: music is the great integrator. Maybe because you can hear it from a distance and it draws you in. I remember the 1960’s and beyond, and the music flows like water (and from documentaries I’ve seen, it always has - even before recordings were made on paper with notes.). Musicians and audiences love their ear and soul candy.
"Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
Love how you did the Ike “Rollin” part❤️. Great look on your face when you learned who wrote it; I get so hyped when I learn the backstories and connections click 😀. So glad you dig Creedence!!!!!
Proud Mary was written by John Fogerty in 1969 but then released Ike and Tina Turner who had a frenzied hit top hit with it. Of course they switched it up and it's a completely more soul version that I also love.
He spent time in Kentucky in the military. He would work on songs in his head while marching. Tina Turner made her come back with this song. She kicked it up a notch. Both versions are classic. Nothing wrong with a good salesman.

Proud Mary was a paddle boat on Mississippi River
Don't apologize for your language. We're not easily offended. We're not woke we are awake
With all due respect to Tina and Ike who introduced us to this song, I still think that the CCR original is a gem :)
Ike and Tina Turner induced the young generation to it but for us older folks we first heard it from CCR first.
It was a hit back in 1968.
Maybe introduced it to YOU, but it was a HUGE hit and on the airwaves around 1970. For those that weren't in diapers at the time, that is.
You hadn't heard it before Ike and Tina? Weird.
Sorry bro bro as a person born in 1992 I never knew Tina an Ike. These Bois are the ogs
