These are awesome. We got one for our house up north and it is a huge improvement over traditional shovels. I just got one for my father who lives downstate. I'm sure he will love it.
Yes, works great in deep snow. Just about everyone up here in Upper Michigan owns and uses a snow scoop. We get between 200-300" of snow each winter. People use scoops in all depths of snow. We have been using them to shovel roofs. Roofs will have 3' of snow. Works great!
I've used this for about 15 years and it's fantastic. As long as you have a place to move the snow such as a lawn beside the drive way it really is fast. If you take your time it's not exhausting at all. However on slushy snow .....
My dad discovered one of these years ago. 1970. They were aluminum. Lucan Ontario is in a snow belt. Heaven help the Huge snow banks you slid up like you showed. Heaven help the person who shoveled a wall beside the driveway to block the scoop runway. We found three in people’s garbage this year. I thought dad sent them 😇😊since our driveway guy retired and we thought we needed to hire a truck. ❄️🥶 With these silver bear snow tools no truck $$$$ needed. They are fast.
I started skiing in Zermatt, Switzerland in 1990. They get a LOT of snow in Zermatt (at 5000' altitude) and it snows dry fluffy stuff almost every day in the ski season. The task every morning for the hotel staff people and shop owners in town is to clear the snow away. For traction they scatter finely crushed gravel. This is where I first saw aluminum sleigh-type snow shovels of the type demo-ed here. The Swiss are not averse to hard work, so I have never seen wheeled-type shovels there :).
I purchased this several years ago. Can't say how much I love this thing without getting long-winded and boring (I'm good at that). I watched my neighbors shovel snow and knew there had to be a better way. I purposely looked for how Yoopers would do this kind of thing (seriously I did) and found this. Unless my car gets stuck in a ditch, I'll never shovel snow again.
Being that I've been to the UP I will confirm you get lots of snow, but it is also very cold so the snow is light. and it looks like you have a lot of area to slide the snow off to the side. Most places in New England the snow is heavy and wet. and you have to stack it high because space is limited
I have owned two of the U.P. snow scoops and three plastic models from True Temper and Sun Cast. The Sun Cast models seemed to be made for short folks. They tended to dig in instead of ride over the snow unless I put the handle down to my knees. The handle on one broke easily also. I gave the other to my grandson and told him to be careful with it. The older True Temper worked as well as the Yooper Scoopers and was easier to push uphill and slide the snow off. I don't like the newer True Temper with the Ergonomic handle as much. The bend leaves a weak spot and I couldn't find any advantage to it. I am now making my own because I realized that I can push more that twice the snow that these scoops can hold. Once you get them sliding a 10 year old can move a full load. Mine are 4 feet wide. It is almost as hard walking through a foot of snow as it is pushing a load of snow over it. Since my scoops require less than half as many trips I get done in less time with less effort.
We finns already have these in every household. Here they are made from enforced plastic, and dont have useless wheels. It is better than showelling by a lot. Mine has lasted for 15 years now and still going.
For that amount of snow fall in a given year, I'd be using a snow blower to handle it. No banks to contend with and it certainly much easier to deal with the mess that the city plow leaves at the bottom of your driveway when clearing the street.
I use a similar sleigh shovel. Have not used my snowblower since I got it, and I grew up in North Dakota, and moved to Minneapolis for the warmer winters. So I know snow. I'm 60 and overweight. These snow sleigh shovels are great for light or heavy snow, and work great for the mound left by the plow and the hills at the side of the driveway - if properly used. One thing they can do that snowblowers can't, is move the peak of that hill out into your yard, so you have more room to put new snow from your driveway. You dont have to climb a higher and higher hill. Just put the shovel about a foot under the peak, and push it out into the yard. Repeat as needed. Helps to spray the shovel with silicon when starting. Also, snow pants or gaiters help a lot.
You all need to chill, Asia uses a similar shovel to take off a meter high of snow off the roofs, and sliding snow to the top of a pile makes more sence then trying to lift and throw.
I really like it.I might get one for $80.00 and for a wheel kit $15.00 so that is 95$ with the snow scoop and the wheel kit all together.I also call it the upper scooper
lol.. This thing exist since a very long time in Canada.. But I don't see why it would need wheels.. Mine does not have wheels and it work great.. It is only good with light snow and you need somewhere to put the snow because you can't lift it up! It's not used a lot for driveway clearing, but more for clearing a roof.
I haven't had that problem in several years. When I did I made a path and moved it to the back yard. If the back yard got full I would have to had to hire someone to haul it away.
Check Garant same models .Thhey are ergonomics so you don,t have to do an extra move to empty the showel . Both models should tape where w put our hands . By low temperature , even with mufles, hands freeze because the metal stay cold, very cold .
Been a secret...? we've had snow scoops for as long as i can remember o.O 10 years ago i remember sitting in one when my dad pushed me into all the show, it was awesome
And I asked 25 different homeowners in Mich. if they owned or even heard of this generic tool. 0/25 own one. And only 3 people heard of it.. go back to school boy, you have got a lot to learn
That looks like it’s barely 2 inches of snow and it’s light and powdery what do you do when it’s heavy and wet and it’s 50 mile an hour winds blowing it back at you oh and by the way we’re getting 14 inches tonight Connecticut
Instead of shovelling 10-15lbs of snow at a time, you can struggle with pushing 50-60lbs of snow, trying to get it to dump by thrusting and twisting....if there is any wetness to that snow, you'd be screwed. I had one of those and it was like hip checking a 2" steel tube every five seconds....no thanks
I can only imagine how "screwed" you'd be with wet snow, right. I know here our wet snow would just get stuck in there. THen I guess you'd shovel out the scooper.
after going through the comments I guess I am or have been living in the dark for 71 yrs. never ever seen one before this video and I have been in the snow removal system for65 of them yrs. must not think they can be sold in south Dakota where we have had over 120 inches of snow in some winters
Where can I get one? Could you possibly hook me up with one for a couple days and I'll review it? I have a serious snow removal business but nothing but shovels.. possible sponsorship
He looks like he’s lifting to you ? 😂😂😂😂 you are incorrect. I have one and there is hardly no lifting if any . It has wheels so you slide the snow to the place you want it to go . And I’m a woman
Hello! If you don't like the tools you don't need to fuck around with this guy. He wanted to share his idea and of course it ain't free. He had to purchase the materials and plus the labor. This is a Democratic country anyone can do what he wants as long as he don't commit crime.
Great for powder dry snow as seen here. Wet HELLA heavy wet snow that falls in other regions of the country this would not work (Like St. Louis), nor would getting the snow above a wet packed berm that would be created by this method/tool. Nice try though. Snow blower for the win.
A secret? I think you're hallucinating. We live in Nova Scotia and my dad had a snow scoop when I was a kid 35 years ago. I own one as well, and you can buy them everywhere. If you think they're a secret you're delusional lol.

We have had snow scoops in Canada (particularly in N. Ontario) since the mid sixties!

great for smooth driveways but in the hood we got bumpy sidewalks
Mr Guzman you mean mud potholes and gravel
Lol I use a sleigh style shovel on a gravel driveway way. You're dumb

What do you do when your snow banks are over 6' on either side of your driveway?
Plan ahead better.
I make a snow ramp and build a berm of snow and dump off the end! Makes a good stock pile of snow! Luntaa Pankii!
Wait for it to melt.
That's where the snow blower comes into play.
I use a similar sleigh shovel. Have not used my snowblower since I got it, and I grew up in North Dakota, and moved to Minneapolis for the warmer winters. So I know snow.

I'm seeing these in the lower peninsula now...very cool tool!!
Very effective snow clearing tool. My question is how well does it clear ice or hard packed snow?
Simple and brilliant
Looks like it’s great for light fluffy snow. But how about that heavy wet mess ?
Clever gadget - is it useful for soil too?
You all need to chill, Asia uses a similar shovel to take off a meter high of snow off the roofs, and sliding snow to the top of a pile makes more sence then trying to lift and throw.

did you show taking the wheels off or did I miss it?

Thank you very much, you saved my father’s back. LOL👍🏾
How's this work with 10 foot snow banks and no place to dump it??
Driveways you idiot, 10 foot snowbanks in your driveway. I don't think so
Tommy Gun you mean average Canadian home
@@tommygun7299 never heard of lake effect snow apparently. 6 to 7 ft driveway banks common. Look up tug hill NY "idiot"
I haven't had that problem in several years. When I did I made a path and moved it to the back yard. If the back yard got full I would have to had to hire someone to haul it away.
Where is the link to purchase one?
I'm Sean faber I come from Holland Michigan how much it's cost for
Works beautiful on Midwest snow... But New England snow is a different animal.
snow is snow
Damn i need one of these yooper scoopers!
Does it work on unpaved driveway with ruts covered with wet snow? Snow sticks to the regular shovel I use 🥺
I remember a similar device that I thought was larger with higher sides sold at shopco. Any idea?
Check Garant same models .Thhey are ergonomics so you don,t have to do an extra move to empty the showel . Both models should tape where w put our hands . By low temperature , even with mufles, hands freeze because the metal stay cold, very cold .
I don't recommend the model. Sorry . Design a new one .

Easiest way to clear snow: hire the neighbor kid!
does this have a patent because I plan on makin them for a living. I will call it aluminum bear snow scoop
Did you already made them?
You probably forgot you typed that comment a long time ago😂
Yea...
@@l.v1473 hes now a millionaire from his snow scoop manufacturing business
Been using one for the last 25 years they are great... cost about $30
Ok and what if the snow is frozen?
Sure, works great for flat surfaces, but what about rough terrain?
I have a dirt/rock driveway and it works very well. it even works over the grass without tearing it up.
Nick Ponlamuangsri Thanx for the Info, gonna give it a try. PEACE
I would not agree that this item should or can be used in heavy wet snow effectively.
And I asked 25 different homeowners in Mich. if they owned or even heard of this generic tool. 0/25 own one. And only 3 people heard of it.. go back to school boy, you have got a lot to learn
Bullshit come to Canada and see how big our banks of snow are
How big are your bank's of snow?
In south Dakota we have 3 feet of snow rn
Dude....post the link!!!!!!
I like my skid steer and a plow truck
Greatest way to shovel snow?
Pay someone else to do it.
Michael D absolutely!
Scott Anthony lmao
I agree
I love my yooper scooper. but i still don't understand the purpose of having wheels on it.
To fucking move the snow and not have to lift it up and walk with it to somewere else
@@l.v1473 someone’s cranky.
Seems to be a handy little item but I'm not sure I can move away from my blower.

Yes. Sisu proud!
no not yet

Spray it w/ cooking spray snow won't stick.
Wow nice👍
Can't see how it would get through the 3' drifts I get...
Nothing New! Here in norway we have been using a shovel like this for atleast 60 years ;)

It's a sleigh shovel, what the hell does it need wheels for.
Weird that this is new to people. These have existed for decades
Well they are all over the Upper Peninsula, its obvious they work well...but then, you probably live in Florida!

If it snows a lot I would invest in a snow blower instead.
for 299.99 I will go buy a toro power shovel or a single stage for 50 dollars more

wow a shovel with wheels ''so impressive''that shovel is in Canada too
Right now ny has 20-30 in
