"To focus on the breasts. I was designed to be attracted to those things." Weird. That's the opposite of how I as a presumed straight teenager was always taught to think about breasts by Christians.
Agreed. When someone asks for help from folks viewed as experts, there is a power dynamic that is being abused here. We know the suicide rate among folks sent to conversion therapy is way higher than those who grow up in affirming homes. This is like someone going to a doctor for a hang nail on their hand, asking the doc to amputate their foot, and the doc doing it. It's harmful, unnecessary, and doesn't actually solve the real problem.
I went through 13 years of reparative therapy that included electronic shock therapy which actually proved medically I was born gay. It was done by a psychiatrist who was President of the Baptist Church here at the time. I have since learned that the entire medical medical profession declassified homosexuality as an illness 50 years ago. It did enormous damage. A 51 year marriage to my accepting wife did not change a thing.
Gets accountability partner No one "Hey I got the gay itch." "So do i" Talks for hours. "Wow you get me.... I really like you" "Same" 8 months later Marries accountability partner.
jadir goulart If I'm reading that correctly, you're saying that if we don't accept our imperfections, we're no longer whole, no longer Light. Very wise thing to say. Who are you quoting, if I may ask?
Scott Anderson how ? It’s complete torture over something someone can’t control. I will make a conversion therapy for Christians to go from Christian to atheist.
calo10able no it can’t. You guys might call it control but it’s not control is trauma. You’re ignorant and I don’t blame you I blame your parents and your peers
JM I am also a Christian, you are a brilliant example of someone from this religion. Love is love, I am Bisexual but even if I wasn’t I would 200000% support everyone and who they love x
Firstly, she put Christian in quotation marks, which to me indicates she understands the irony that they would call themselves Christians. Secondly, while I am a follower of Christ, I do recognize that a multitude of LGBTQ people have had only abusive relationships with every religious person and institution that they ever encountered. I always have the inclination to say "I am Christian, but not one of those! We have a ton of out LGBTQ in my church!" It isn't always helpful. I have relatives who are happy that is the case, but who were so hurt and abused by the "church" that they could never come to terms with attending again, even if it was a gay affirming congregation. That kind of pain can easily be erased, and we need to live with our discomfort.
It presents moral Christian dilemma framed like this. Does pointing out homosexuality as a disorder help the afflicted at the cost of hurting the feelings of a super sensitive group of fellow human beings.
I really like this video. It is important. I'm not religious, but I used to be. What struck me was that as a kid you prayed for god to change you. I simply prayed for him to let me die before I woke up every night. That didn't work either. Gay conversion, will never work. I always knew deep down, that I could never change the fact that I was attracted to other guys. What a lot of people need, is self acceptance therapy, and to know that other people can love them.
Randy D. Omg that “I simply pray for him to let me die before I woke up every night” I relate to this I did this for two years of my Highschool life it was devastating
Many people can probably relate to that. For me it lasted for over twenty years, from Jr. high, until I was well past thirty. It took me that long to accept myself, because of my upbringing and how society treated me. Believe me I know how devastating it can be. That is why it is important to speak or write about it. Letting people know that the past was painful, but we get over it, may help others with their internal struggles.
shots autism: So you think gay people should castrate themselves? That is just about as sick as anything I have ever heard. Self mutilation could not possibly solve any emotional problems a person has. The fact is I don't want to change who I am. I like that the possibility exists that I might fall in love with another man, and he may love back. I do not want to reduce my attractions to other guys. I have learned that what I was taught as a child, and the way society treated me was wrong. I never did anything that hurt anyone because I was gay. I only hurt myself, and perhaps another boy that loved me when we were teenagers, because I could not accept myself. Because I could not accept myself, I was also unable to accept his love. Even though I really think I loved him, I rejected him. That was wrong, and hurt both of us. I lived in isolation, except for when I was at work for over thirty years, because of depression, internalized homophobia, and fear of rejection. I now fully accept who I am. I hope that it is still possible to find love. I believe it is, even though I am older, and have medical issues. I live in constant physical pain, but I no longer live in constant emotional pain. I am actually happier than I have ever been in my life. Self acceptance, and the acceptance of others, for me was the change that made life worth living. I now have better relations with family members, and those I work with, because I am no longer living a lie about who I am. They all accept me as I am. They also all know that I am gay.
Randy D. sometimes i wish i was fully straight again but i can relate to your story about when u were a teen. i just quit trucking last week after only about 3 weeks because the hours r like 15-20 a day & it's tough working around 21 days in a row. In Riverside, Ca there's this young man with curly hair who works at the Walmart distribution center where i dropped off a load. He looked so cute but since i quit trucking due to the lack of sleep & lack of days off it looks like i'll never get to see him or talk to him again. (I gave my BOL to him & he did my paperwork & i talked to him other times that night.) It's hard knowing this & i think its another reason why i miss trucking because although i drove 48 there would've always been that possibility of seeing him again as my company does a lot of food loads. It was easier being straight, especially since mom is Christian & those attractions are not good? I'm a eunuch now & i'm not sure if that's why my brain changed but now my concern is i have to eat VERY healthy to keep my bones strong. Sometimes I think it's better being attracted to no one & when i'm really tired this is how it almost is being a eunuch so i basically know what its like being asexual (also i have no libido). Other times i miss having full attraction to women, but thats partly because i associate that with when i was younger (im 30 now). I haven't watched porn since 2015 & never have visual stimulation because most of the attraction faded out with T, so there's never anything (visual stimulation) to look forward to. Testosterone is so powerful i used to have this crush on a girl at work & it faded out so much she's not attractive anymore. I just started a list of eunuch effects on my phone & so far i'm up to 107! Half are awesome, half are bad. If someone could eat healthy being a eunuch isn't so bad after menopause. I prefer it but i also miss my old self so i don't know. Not going bald is really nice but being hot is not. I found quite the cure! So far I haven't been able to convince any men to join me lol! its quite remarkable i may be one of the few ppl who figured out how to expand my sexual orientation (if other eunuchs go through that?) but i feel bad right now about the feelings of missing someone. i had a crush on a guy at Amazon & im starting back there next week & i wonder if the attraction will still be there. it seems like if i stop using my grounding line to sleep at 0 volts i seem to lose some attraction to women? i wish i could try 100% asexual instead of mostly asexual but i dont want to stop grounding & the voltage difference isn't that big of an influence
I'm sorry that that was the version of God that was presented to you. That sounds horrible. I don't want to impose, but if it was the Christian God being talked about, you didn't have to give up belief in him because of your sexuality. I found www.gaychurch.org recently and it was pretty helpful, some of the articles seemed a little fanciful but others had genuinely good arguments.
As a straight person I find the whole idea of "conversion therapy" offensive. ffs it is not a choice it's who they are; getting a dog or cat is a choice; sexual orientation is not a choice. When my niece came out to me when she was 30 years old, she was worried that it would change the way I felt about her. I was initially shocked and a little bit angry that she would even think such a thing, I told her that nothing that she could do would change they way I felt about her; you are my niece and nothing was going to change that as long as she remained the good and caring person that she is and that I love her. She is engaged to equally loving and caring person. They have a cat and I tease them about being a lesbian couple with a cat. I told them getting a cat is a choice! Their response what since they live in a small condo in Toronto they don't have room for a dog as soon as they are able to afford a house with a yard they will be getting a dog.
It's irrelevant if it's a choice or not, it's like fighting on the religious fundamentalists terms. It's like arguing about the effectiveness of conversion therapy instead of the real issue of CT being morally wrong and psychologically damaging. It's like trying to argue for pot legalization by saying it has medical uses instead of the more important issue of individual autonomy. Imo
Cute comment! If anyone you know needs support against religious, social, or cultural abuses, this can help them: “On Human Suffering and the Concept of God” - the psychological origin of religions. neomodernistpoetry.blogspot.com/2018/11/on-human-suffering-and-concept-of-god.html or homoeroticpoems.blogspot.com/2018/06/on-human-suffering-and-concept-of-god.html If family, religion, or culture makes coming out difficult for anyone that you know, the following blog post about homosexuality may provide valuable help: “Homophobia: To the Community” homoeroticpoems.blogspot.com/2014/04/to-community.html
"Her breasts, I was supposed to be attracted to those things." I'm sorry but I laughed pretty hard at that, partly BC I'm attracted to those things. (Yes I'm a girl) Oh my gosh I forgot all about this comment... I eventually figured out that I'm not a girl but my point still stands.
i think that it is fair enough to advice any "gay" man to reconsider the benefits of sex with a woman - but if that is not his thing - too bad - he will just have to make do with another man.. no point bringing god into it and getting all screwed up the ass in that way..
I’m a girl and I’m not a lesbian or anything but yah a females body is really attractive like with a guy it’s just a hair full of chest and a long stick hanging down looking like swuidwards nose
I'm gay, always have been, just like him. Attracted to boys before I even knew there was a word for it. I'd gladly choose to be gay, if it was a choice. Men are beautiful, and men loving each other is so beautiful.
Excellent excellent as a Christian and a gay man you are very correct! Think of it this way. You can’t cast you out of you! Stop trying and love yourself as you are!
Lets be honest, you cant call yourself a Christian and a gay. Pick one. You cannot skip all the parts in the Bible that condemns homosexuality and choose to follow the rest. Its like a vegetarian that eats meat....
At no point does the Bible Condemn non-paedophile non-incestuous same-sex romantic, loving monogamous committed relationships between peers. In fact John's Gospel clearly proves that Christ himself was gay. The disciple John was known as the beloved disciple the one that Jesus loved. If Jesus loved all of his disciples equally the only logical conclusion for Christ's singling out John as his beloved is that Christ and John were in a romantic relationship.
Timothy I'm not trolling. I have a PHD in Theology and Biblical History. When the Bible is translated from the original text in which it was written in context with the time at no point does it for mentioned the Aforementioned relationships and that is a simple fact. You should read the bible your self.
Mark Wilkie still wrong and seeing as you would have to know every homosexuals childhood to know whether or not the last bit is true which it isn't and you didn't post a link with proof about the unwanted sexual attraction bit
At 12 I told my parents I was an atheist because I found the whole concept of gods inconceivable. I believe because of that I never went through any internal strife of being gay.
Paul Andrews I’m so pleased to hear your story. I have often been amazed that, religious people don’t notice that, only religious communities/countries, have an issue with homosexuality. The less religious, the MORE accepting the society is. Funny how people who care, about what they believe, being true. (The critical thinkers) . Don’t care about anyone’s sexuality
I've been an Atheist basically all my life. I still struggled for about a decade to accept my homosexuality. It's because I didn't have any role models, no one in real life I knew who was LGBTQ+ and for a long time I hadn't even seen it in the media. Therefore, I fight for representation, GOOD representation!!
PotterheadGeeK7 I guess I was lucky with self acceptance. I was outed in the mid-70's so I had absolutely no role models, but my parents and friends were very accepting.
budd2nd Not the same for everyone at all and a harmful generalisation. Growing up, most of my LGBT friends and I had very limited interactions with religious communities yet that did not stop a good number of them self harming and going through depression. Currently, I am most happy with my sexuality now in a positive community and having converted to Catholicism. Is this the same for everyone? No, of course not. Sadly, there are many harmful religious communities out there and it disgusts me to think of what they do to one another. However, to generalise that all religious communities are more negative and less accepting than non religious communities is false. For example, recently in China, mass amounts of LGBT media has been completely banned but this is not the case in the USA, which is a strong Christian country. There’s good and bad of everything, including Christians, atheists, Muslims, agnostics and every other religion under the Sun.
Paige Evans I agree. When it comes to the homophobes I personally know, only about half of them are homophobic due to religion. Many are Atheist. The most homophobic political party in my country has a huge number of Atheist followers. A good friend of mine is the (gay) daughter of a reverend and he has declared his church a "rainbow zone" and he has spoken out numerous times in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. One thing I have noticed though is that extremists are overwhelmingly more homophobic. But your average person who happens to follow a religion is not more likely to be homophobic than your average Atheist.
I didn't have conversion therapy thrown at me. I knew when I was 4, that I should have been a girl. I went to my mom with the Sears and Roebuck catalog open to the little girls dresses and I asked her why I couldn't wear them. She told me that I was a boy and boys didn't wear dresses. It took me another 40 years before I became my true self. When I started living as Karen, I experience discrimination from my employer and the customers that we delivered for. I endured a 19 1/2 month unemployed period before I was hired by a mortgage bank. I was hired because of my expertise and my honesty because I laid everything about me on the table. I am now retired at 66 years of age; but, every now and then, discrimination jumps up and bites me in the butt. I stand tall and hold my head up high because I KNOW who I am. I am KAREN and I am strong.
truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this .The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is, therefore, born with a predetermined attraction. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural expression of mammals & found commonplace in nature. Intelligent research in this area clearly explains this process. If you are truly interested in truth, based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay shows this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace
My mom tries to force me to date boys ever since I told her that I like girls, so this video is really a ray of sunshine for me. Your experience and what you did helped many others that are struggling with feeling different only for their sexuality. Thank you.
As someone who is pansexual and grew up in a severely oppressive and abusive Christian home, what this man did is SO NECESSARY! Conversion therapy is disgusting and this man is so incredibly brave and strong for reliving his trauma to spread awareness 🖤🏳️🌈
Sexual attraction to frying pans. May you marry all the frying pans in the world. I'm kidding, but I think it's embarrassing we still have conversion therapy in 2022 last time I checked.
I just love/hate that a "therapist" honest-to-God advised him that, whenever he looked at a lady, to stare at her chest and go "LOOK AT THEM BREASTS. THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD CRAVE. THEY ARE JUST FOR *YOU!* RECONDITION YOURSELF TO SALIVATE WHEN SPOTTED."
Mae, I completely understand your concern and desire to remain true to yourself, but I only want to offer some helpful information that will keep you out of your car. If you end up in a position of having to leave your home, please do NOT sleep in your car. Do research ahead of time for shelters that you can go to for support. I'm assuming you are under 18, so I want you to know that by striking out on your own and sleeping in your car or other questionable places you are vulnerable to adults who prey on young people such as yourself who will either force you into sex working under a pimp or sex trafficking, and even if this doesn't happen immediately, you are also vulnerable to people who will target you for physical abuse, murder, theft of property, etc., and police are also very likely to harass you, impound your car, or jail you. There are just too many things that could happen depending on where you live and social attitudes around LGBTQ+ issues and homelessness. There are many places that are out there who will help you find a safe place to be, if only you look around. Also, be sure to save up enough money for you to at least get to that place, which may be outside of your city, county, or state. Just be safe! With All My Love to you as you journey through your life and find your place.
I am a Christian , and I do NOT condone , practice or believe in doing this conversion crap. Love one another as I have loved you. Period. I accept you as you are. Period. What else is there to say?
@@rustyanneyakel YOU JUST EVADED THE POINT BY INTERPRETATING AN UNRELATED VERSE. ADMIT IT, YAHWEH IS A HOMOPHOBIC PIECE OF SHIT. HE IS NOT ABOUT LOVE. HE IS ABOUT WICKEDNESS.
@@xxxod Oh seriously! My concern on this earth is NOT , NOT about righteous or unrighteous... it is NOT my place to judge. My place is to be an example, a living embodiment of God's love on earth. If it is accepted , then hooray ! If it's rejected , then I move on. Judgement will come. But it's not up to me.
I came out in 1982 and immediately went into therapy. The first thing the therapist said to me was that gay is NOT an affliction and there was nothing to cure. She offered her services to help me accept who and what I was. Note that this was 42 YEARS AGO, and yet there are still cranks out there offering conversion therapy. Disgusting! Thank you, John Becker, for your immense courage.
I remember that I was coming home from OzCon in 2011 when the presidential race was warming up. I was travelling by Greyhound and had accidentally missed a reboard call and spent several hours at the station with CNN on. They were talking about Bachmann's conversion therapy. At OzCon, I'd met many openly gay people, and had even felt some attraction to a longtime friend I'd finally met in person. It was this that made me think that being gay wasn't a choice and shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of, revising my position on homosexuality. By the next year's OzCon, I'd finally come out myself. So thanks, John, for being part of that conversation that ultimately made me a better person.

@@dan69052 The Bible in fact does not actually say that homosexuality is a sin. That has been the result of poor translation and bias. Even the early history of the church did not see homosexuality as bad until later when there was a great council on this discussion. There were 2 camps on this issue and we see which one won out over the other.
This guy is so mentally strong. He went through this "therapy" that reminded him all of his bad and traumatic experiences as a teen. I honestly don't know if I could be able to do it. Hats off to you, sir!

@Origami Help Desk Yes, but fornication is not homosexuality, everyone can be a fornicator no matter their sexuality Edit: according the bible, the fornication is having with a prostitute or have sex out of marriage or with someone who didn't get married while you already got married.
you are a HERO, Mr. Becker. Thank you, from a straight white grandma whose beautiful gay grandson and non-binary niece will NEVER go through this because of courageous people like you.
I don't imagine for a second that proponents of gay conversion therapy believe that therapy could turn themselves or other straight people gay. So why do they believe the reverse is possible?
I knew I was gay when I was a teenager. I also lost my faith in that period too. Well friend of mine tried conversion therapy - it didn't work. I knew you couldn't pray away the gay.

Thank you, John, for telling us your story, and also for doing that work. I can only imagine how much of an emotional challenge it was to put yourself back in that harmful environment. Such courage, but such important work. Thank you! I feel such gratitude to my parents for raising me in a church (which also happened to be Catholic) where homosexuality was never mentioned - for better or for worse. So when I finally did come out, of all my struggles (and there were plenty - lots of self hatred), none of it was related to God or my faith. I never doubted - for even a moment - that God loved me completely as I was.
PABWECG That is so much like my experience! I feel so bad for the spiritual abuse some people have to suffer. To drive people away from God because of some bizarre idea that the Gospel is about some sort of sexual “purity” is a very grave sin, I think.

I'm a girl and I like boys (well recently doubting if I'm bisexual) and I don't understand why if you are a boy this is considered to be "wrong". Like bro, why does it even matter??
Why is it that religion is the one that sees being gay as something to abolish. You take away the religion, and no one seems to have a problem with it.
I highly recommend a new autobiography titled; Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within - written by a gay man and full of extraordinary experiences that lead him to discover the wisdom from within to free himself that allowed him to be himself and help other to happily accept who they are born to be - that being gay is not a sin but a normal expression of the character of LIFE

Kevin Grande well man. Idk whats happening. About 8 months ago out of the blue, I started questjon and asking myself weather i was gay or not. I thought thru my whole life , i liked girls. Fell in love twice an the second time, i had self esteem issues with my size an staying hard an this grew worse. Its gotten worse and worse over the 8 months. Ive tried looking an imagining what itd be like w a guy but i cant imagine it. I guess why im asking this is i wanted to know, how you knew you were gay. I cant get off to gay porn. But for some reason i can get off to imagining myself doing wierd stuff. Idk anything anymore. I have a gf at the moment, that i feel guilty for dating , i think what if im leading her on, or what if i really want to be with a guy , an end up hurting her, an its really embaressing for me, cause i dont look like someone whos gay.. When we first started dating 6 months ago, the sex was pretty consistent i think. Now i have like no sex drive.
I recently have come to terms with my sexuality (I'm bi), when I found out I had a break down (and still do) in fear. I haven't told my parents yet because I'm so scared. My parents are nice and loving, they can be tough at times but they really care; but I'm scared at how they will react if I come out. I know my mom is all for conversion therapy, she is very religious and believes the being gay is wrong. I'm scared of telling them because I don't want to go to a conversion therapist, but I also don't want my parents to force me to only be attracted to males. What doesn't help is that my mom especially isn't a big fan of bi people, she believes that they are more likely to cheat. When my brother came out as trans, I will never forget what my dad asked "but you still like boys, right". Whenever I'm attracted to a girl, that's all I can think of. I know that I'm lucky, because at least I still like boys, but I don't know what to do, I want to stop hating this part of me and accept it, but I can't. If you read all this, thanks for listening to my rant, I have no one to talk to about this, so thanks! I hope you have a good day!

Thank you so much for this video. I have tried to “pray away the gay” and only left me feeling broken. Only recently I have come to terms with being gay. I know this is a bit cliché but thought it would be said.💛

so, not homophobic (I'm actually a lesbian lol) but my mom is and her reasoning is 1. it's against what the Bible 2. gay people can't have kids and therefore shouldn't have sex 3. children need a mother and a father figure in their life
Although my father has a bisexual child and 2 bisexual grandkids who he accepts, he is still homophobic in some ways. He believes marriage and children is only for straight people because that's the way it should be. He's not religious. He's very old, European, and middle class and that's just how his generation thought. My lower class mother on the other hand has no problem with gay or bisexual people marrying or having kids. Plus the gay/bisexual gene comes from her family. lol

Agreed. When someone asks for help from folks viewed as experts, there is a power dynamic that is being abused here. We know the suicide rate among folks sent to conversion therapy is way higher than those who grow up in affirming homes. Scott Anderson how ? It’s complete torture over something someone can’t control. I will make a conversion therapy for Christians to go from Christian to atheist.

Letting people know that the past was painful, but we get over it, may help others with their internal struggles.
shots autism:
So you think gay people should castrate themselves?
Can I suddenly get a crush on a male, as a straight male?
No.
Therefore, "conversion therapy" is useless.
Imo

Damn dude, if I was gay I wouldn't have had the guts. You're a lot braver than I am.
That’s courageous and incredibly positive of you
I'm gay, always have been, just like him. Attracted to boys before I even knew there was a word for it. I'd gladly choose to be gay, if it was a choice. Men are beautiful, and men loving each other is so beautiful.
Being gay is normal and natural. Gay love is beautiful.
I understand that you are saying it with the intention of being kind, but love is love, there is no such thing as gay love. :) it simply is just love
ShieldsUp Love in general is beautiful, gay love is no different.
maybe normal is not such a useful word - there would never be progress without deviation from the norm..
If it was normal and natural, you wouldn’t have to say it.
I would say “All Love is beautiful”, but I don’t think I know what it is.
When will it be only "love"??
Excellent excellent as a Christian and a gay man you are very correct! Think of it this way. You can’t cast you out of you! Stop trying and love yourself as you are!
Lets be honest, you cant call yourself a Christian and a gay. Pick one. You cannot skip all the parts in the Bible that condemns homosexuality and choose to follow the rest. Its like a vegetarian that eats meat....
Timothy let him do what he wants to. rules change, get over it c:
At no point does the Bible Condemn non-paedophile non-incestuous same-sex romantic, loving monogamous committed relationships between peers. In fact John's Gospel clearly proves that Christ himself was gay. The disciple John was known as the beloved disciple the one that Jesus loved. If Jesus loved all of his disciples equally the only logical conclusion for Christ's singling out John as his beloved is that Christ and John were in a romantic relationship.
+James power I'm going to assume you trolling... read your bible. its very clear about this issue.
Timothy
I'm not trolling.

"Gay itch" HA story of my life.

If my parents try to give me transgender conversation therapy, I'm never talking to them again and will sleep in my car.
Oh, I will be giving you a transgender conversion therapy. What's your gender?
Probably your loss, not theirs. Rent your own place soonest if you fear that could happen.

Disgusting!
Thank you, John Becker, for your immense courage.
cool story!

If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace
Thank you for your courage and bravery! Wow!
I'm not from the states but Scotland. This sort of therapy would never be allowed here.
Thank you so much for this. I was one of those teens who prayed for God to change me. Of course it didn’t happen but we need to offer support for gay teens today
When you talked about drudging up old memories I began weeping. I hate how religion filled us with so much self-loathing. Thank you for doing this. ❤️

I'm a girl and I like boys (well recently doubting if I'm bisexual) and I don't understand why if you are a boy this is considered to be "wrong". Like bro, why does it even matter??
Great message, thanks for all the hard work
Why is it that religion is the one that sees being gay as something to abolish. You take away the religion, and no one seems to have a problem with it.
This man has done the work so us gays can be just a little bit happier today, I deeply appreciate it
For those who think being gay is a choice, I ask this....when did you choose to be straight!
*gives birth*
acting on it is a choice though

I highly recommend a new autobiography titled; Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within - written by a gay man and full of extraordinary experiences that lead him to discover the wisdom from within to free himself that allowed him to be himself and help other to happily accept who they are born to be - that being gay is not a sin but a normal expression of the character of LIFE
I’ve been to 10 months of “Christian counseling” Twas not a good time
@Jonathan Roberts This comment literally doesn't apply to what you just said.
If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Thank you for your courage and activism in exposing the evil of conversion “therapy”. Your dedication to the LGBTQ+ community is greatly respected and appreciated. You have literally saved countless lives through your personal advocacy.
Great job for exposing the psychological barbarity and outright abuse of this primitive institution. What a great triumph!

NOBODY what's happening... You can dm me on ig @pharellkevins
Listen I think you should come out when you are 18 so they won't have the right to send you there.
HE SAID FROM GB WISCONSIN, SWEETIE ME TOOOO. Don’t you worry, man, it’s so much better for LGBTQ+ youth now. I’m proud of you for being strong through all this stuff. 💕💕
I thought conversion therapy was watching porn and electric shocks to genitals...
Thank you so much for this video. I have tried to “pray away the gay” and only left me feeling broken. Only recently I have come to terms with being gay.
I know this is a bit cliché but thought it would be said.💛

Part of me wants to open an under cover gay camp. "Find your true self." Teach kids and adults that they are valid and how to be safe.

so, not homophobic (I'm actually a lesbian lol) but my mom is and her reasoning is 1. it's against what the Bible 2. gay people can't have kids and therefore shouldn't have sex 3. children need a mother and a father figure in their life
@@julistephens9729 well fuck single parents I guess
Although my father has a bisexual child and 2 bisexual grandkids who he accepts, he is still homophobic in some ways. He believes marriage and children is only for straight people because that's the way it should be. He's not religious. He's very old, European, and middle class and that's just how his generation thought. My lower class mother on the other hand has no problem with gay or bisexual people marrying or having kids. Plus the gay/bisexual gene comes from her family. lol

People who threaten others with Hell should look to themselves. I thank God that I wasn't raised in such an intolerant household. (School was a different matter).
