Striking Gold in the Outback | Ep. 3 of Ovens Down Under in Australia
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 лют 2023
- Greg steps his Gold Prospecting up with a sluice and takes his mining setup down to the river and goes to work. He also experiences more of Australia's unique wildlife in between gold hunting trips. Plus, an ill-timed breakdown tests his mechanical skills.
**Ovens Down Under Adventure Playlist** • Ovens Down Under
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

I am a fellow Canadian and is great to see you thriving in the land down under. Cheers mate!
Anything for gold! Every setback is a chance for Greg to show us how to survive when we face those situations, so its great just watching Greg solve any sort of problem.
We all need to know how to survive. Very soon China, Russia, and India will unite. Australia will be easy pickings for them.
I'm glad you got to spend time with your daughter and her family!! The gold was a bonus!
Id put that gold in a tiny bottle and present it to your daughter w love. It could be done in resin for a necklace or key charm. Very cool either way
10:27 that is a garden orb weaver (Eriophora transmarina) 10:42 not a funnel web but a Black house spider (Badumna insignis) venomous but a bite isnt fatal, usually only causing localized pain for a limited time 14:59 it looks like a badge huntsman (Neosparassus sp)
Yes definitely Black house spider.
My husband and I are here and super excited to see your gold!

This series is making my month!
Man that was nice Gold. Heck yeah 👍
Love the shots of the terrain and sky line, and beautiful plants.
Love you let the achidna be and just observe. We are blessed and I'm not religious but we are blessed to live on this world . Travel if you can folks. Seeing it for yourself is a revalidation. The people and the diversity of nature . I'll die knowing how lucky I was to see it.
Holy smokes no way!!! So stoked for this episode!!!! Thank you greg!!! You should keep this gold harvesting series going!!!! A survival challenge with fowler there would be LEGENDARY!!!
Glad to have ya here 🇦🇺
Of all the amazing and beauty of Australia my fav has to be those pink galah parrots. Thanks Greg your video is spectacular!! 🥰
So many beautiful places up here in the blue mountains ! Have lived up here most of my life and iv never been bored . Hope you enjoy your time here
Some type of orb weaver spider. None are particularly dangerous to humans. Orb weavers are basically the only spiders that make the classic suspended web. The spiral rings are where they get the name "orb" weaver. Great vids bud ✌️
Thanks
I can add it was a female, watch long enough this time of year and between catches a little fella approx 1/10th her size will sneak out into the web and try to mate with her while she is distracted. My little fella on the front porch is lucky so far this year managed to get away with his life so far.
I'm a gold prospector in Massachusetts and I prospect for gold all over New England. I have a hottent and make videos year round camping and prospecting in New England. I'm subscribed to all 3 channels Greg, Zach and Amos. I enjoy them all. I know Zack lives here in New England and I hope our paths cross sometime as I travel around. I'll show you where the gold is. Peace stay groovy.
Man it's a gift to see you roaming the country im from! Thanks Greg.
I think that was a garden orb weaver spider! Funnel webs create a funnel like web given the name!
Australias truly beautiful at sunset.
Nice video Greg thanks for sharing
I gather your prospecting on the Turon or maybe around Tuena
So cool that you came to the Blue Mountains, glad you could see my home.
You'd love it in Winter there! Nice and cool & you're lucky to even see a snake. Hope we see you back! Thanks for making the time to film these side adventures.
You’re a winner Greg 🎉
I like a few gold panning vids mixed in, Greg. Right on!!
Your blueberry crumble video... I watch it when I feel sad and it makes me happy 😊
Thanks for the awesome adventure 👍🏼 looking forward for your next adventure
They call me mellow yellow...quite nice! Way to go 💪 !!!
We owned a 4 cell placer claim in B.C. many years ago... When you do your final clean in your pan and you pull back all that excess sand we dubbed it the "Swish Back". Just thought I'd share that with you. Nice clean up Greg! That was some decent looking Australian gold.
I’m glad you are having a good time!
Greg you're the best. I love your videos!
8:02 🤣 I'm a sucker for the dad jokes, I ya kiddin ya not 🤣
And he said"Do you come from the land down under?" song keeps coming to mind 😁👍
Every time you show those monitors... i just can’t help but think about that clip from Crocodile Dundee when the old guy asks the native...
“Is that good?”
“Na, needs garlic!”
as he’s eating the monitor on a stick over open fire. I keep waiting on Greg to catch and eat one!
I thought that was a bat?
@@Backwoodshick165
It might’ve been a bat...it’s been many years since i’ve seen it! I remember them playing a joke tying the guys bandanna on the monitor scaring one of the cartel members. Greg just reminds me of Mick in a way..but you may be right on the bat
Absolutely AWESOME footage Greg that's Attenborough quality stuff you're putting out, just fantastic 👌👌👌
You're right Greg , about the oak island boys , but then they have made millions on advertising and merchandising. I wish you the same success!
The lizard looks like he could use a cold beer.
More sluice action Greg.
My favorite youtube channel!
great to see this new terrain, looks like a blast.
Improvise, adapt and overcome Greg! Nice
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY USA brother and thank you for sharing your adventures
what a cool gent you are! Love your modest and sensitive demeanour too!
“It was very neat to see that echidna, I kid ya not” 😂😂😂 genius… luv your videos… from tri state 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
love your videos and content and i can totally relate to all your set backs. it wouldn't be an adventure without them. keep em man.
that spider was a golden orb weaving spider in the circular web, they're found along the whole east coast and there are a few variants
Can’t wait to see more of your videos, and hopefully see you here soon around blue mountains or Bathurst! 👍
Another fun and interesting video Greg 👍
This series is rad man🐸
@@johnnyharperscoutstable5386 😂
i love that you were also helping the fish. classic greg

That would be so cool to go prospecting with him! That's a great idea for a video with him!!
I recently found this channel and what can I say! Greg your videos truly make my days, you even inspired me to start going out and backpacking, also got me wanting to travel to Canada to try these challenges!
Good stuff Greg, catching that gold must get very addictive.
close one my friend, keep watchin for it
This video was right on greg!
Greg that is freaking awesome. My step dad used to pan for gold. Awesome video. 👌
Keep up the good work brother 🙏
Love your videos Greg , especially the comment about you finding more gold than the legend of oak island TV program using just your pan lol , hilarious
Glad you found that much gold. Keep on panning. I'm sure you'll find more!
I actually laughed out loud on the I kidya not gesture. Lol only you Greg. Stay safe God bless from Missouri.
Wow that was actually a really decent amount of gold for just a small setup over a few days
That would be an awesome place to use a small suction dredge.
Love this series Greg as an Aussie. I had to laugh when you were talking about electrical storm an not being in water or a boat and the next clip your leaning beside a tree. Did you know that most electrical storms strike trees and this is the most regular occasion people get struck. Gees that was funny
All the best mate and keep em comin. Cheers
Nice find with the Gold Greg! Seriously, that is a good score.
Loving the Australian adventures! You should do a trip up the top end of Australia, visit the Cairns rainforest region, cassowary, crocodiles, fishing for barramundi etc.
Hey Mr Greg****AWESOME DUDE***🤟🇺🇸been waiting to see you pan *** I pan too****!!!
Nice pan! I love the gold vids! My fav!
Looking good! Hopefully I’ll be panning the river soon🙏🏽🙌🏽
Wish you luck Greg , you just never know
Black house spider mate, not a funnel web. Common as hell here and pretty harmless, the funnel web is much much larger. Live your show Greg, good to have you here!👌
That's not bad at all Greg, great job, sir 👍.
Good going Greg !!!!!
New favorite channel
thank you for another amazing video greg
Wow. A lot of efforts are so impressive. I really like the beautiful environment in this video. Thanks for sharing.😀👍👍
nice score and great problem solving. I am forever a fan
You are such an inspiration for many, love the show and really appreciate you sharing your adventures! Keep up the good work, we love you brother!!
Nicely done Greg. Bad luck with the polaris, but the prospecting worked out well. I did my share of it back in the day. Ma and Pa took a turn at prospecting too and claimed the could make wages with what they panned daily.
Don't worry too much about the biting wildlife, but the hammock is good. There were no such wonderful inventions when I was a kid and lay on the ground camping... I didn't even have a decent swag that was insect or critter proof. I've never been bitten by any snake, a couple of misadventures with spiders, but no hospital visits needed.
If you're in the Blue Mountains, keep a eye out for Yowies (bigfoot/sasquatch). Many stories from those mountains. Just tell them you're visiting and don't want to harm them.
Kind regards and have a good stay here.
Awesome video Greg enjoyed it and can't wait to see what's in store for the next one so keep um coming ty and God bless
