I'm doing as much research as possible before buying my first airbrush, this has been the most helpful video i have found on shadowing technique, and how to properly layer , great work
Thank you Ryan for taking the time to respond. I had looked at hundreds of pics, but 'screaming skull' was the answer. Keep working on that 3d skull, as I would be one of the first to buy one from you. Thanks again. You are a true inspiration.
Dude, you are a great airbrush artist. I love your technique and your manerisms. Choice workmanship. Keep the vids coming. I am new to this, but I have already learned so much from everyone.
You make it look so easy. I have played with a brush and even after twenty years of practice I don't think I could even start one of your works of art.
been searching the net trying to find good advice on skull painting, your top of the list loads of stuff i never thought about . Especially using the outer part to define the edge of the skull. Thanx
I found the skull on google images by searching 'screaming skull'. I'm just starting to airbrush and I LOVE your videos! Thanks for taking the time to help us all out by sharing your skills.
Wow dude, every time I think it looked "good enough", you added something to make it better. Truly talented man! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Anyone who hit "dislike" is a moron BTW.
I have just recently picked up air brushing myself, I spoke with a lot of people before spending a fair amount of money on a brush. I was told badger makes great brushes. I have the badger patriot and although i am not great at airbrushing as far as art is concerned, the brush responds very well and creates clean lines and solid shadowing. hope this helps.
WOW!!! New to airbrushing and loved all the tips you gave!! Im going to start with a basic skull and see what i can do with it and then move on to using your style once i feel comfortable with the (air) gun in my hand....thanks again! AWESOME!!!
nice video i just got into airbrushing and found this video very helpful, i have a master g23 and an iwata eclipse and am looking forward to hopefully become as good as you and some of the other pros i have seen on you tube, so once again thanks and your work is excellent.
nice work I am a beginer with a airbrush any detailed videos like this on is a big help been painting cars for over 20 years just started messing around with the air brush got a link to where I can get the HOK airbrush paints with out having to buy it by the QT thanks make more videos bud
Thanks Ryan. I checked out a couple handfuls of your vids and a ton of other guys' stuff as well. I probably jumped the gun with my question. I am still curious about using automotive urethane. I hear its a very nice paint to use in the airbrush. After a few weeks of practice with the createx, I'll get out some of my urethane "leftovers" and give them a shot in the airbrush. Thanks for taking the time to post up vids to help us beginners out. I really appreciate it.
You might consider what people use as a stability technique when shooting handguns. The hand that holds the grip (which would be your right hand) pushes away from you, the off hand pulls it back towards you. This push and pull really helps to keep a steady hand. Competitive shooters use this technique. Might be worth a try, hope it works for you.
Nice video bro it helped me alot... what airbrush do you recomend because i have a 20 dollar one and it keeps cluggin up even tho i reduce the paint.it looks like a good airbrush gun but i know theres better ones like the one u use.. im using the auto paint ...and what do u use to reduce the air on the little compressor
Great work man...I also reduce the paint a lot more than the instructions written. And hell i hate my hands shaking like a women's toy :D Thanks for the tips and keep doing such good things
Ryan, you redefine 'bad to the bone!' It's people like you that make the rest of us feel even worse about ourselves ;) No matter what you show us, we could never do anything close to you. You understand light and shadows to a level we could never imagine. You are a true genius. How long have you been doing this, and I don't recall what paint you use? Thanks again you sick and talented artist!
just starting out. any advice on things to practice? I mean after dots and lines. guessing shadowing is the most difficult after those. great video. I'd like to see a little closer to the skull when shadowing in layers...thanks.
NICE!! I love this video. How long have you been doing this, you are awesome. I am still in my first year and getting better. Keep the videos coming man and keep up the good work. Thanks
Nice work. I've always wondered how artists blended colors in smoke and fire. Now I know.... kandy apple. Thanks. How tough are the paints? I want to airbrush a rifle stock, & it must be with flat paints & fairly tough.
okay this is bad ass! i jut got my first airbrushing kit for christmas, can you give me some tips to start? or can you make a video for beginners? thank you so much!
Nicely done. You explained it well enough for me anyway and the video was also good...I could hear you unlike some videos I have watched of others. Also you kept the background noise down and music at the right levels. The fine detail work can be done with a brush instead of the micro gun correct? I know it want look the same but I'm just trying to keep start up cost down.
Great Vid!! Found the pic on Google images, Stencilled it and had a go. I REALLY need to get a half decent airbrush and a LOT more practice. Cant wait for your next one . Keep it up for all us noobs and the rest 10/10
Ryan i already figured it out. Tech Support misled me to think that the regulator regulated the pressure of my air tank but really it regulates whats leaving and going to the airbrush ;) and thats what i was wondering? TIME TO DO SOME SERIOUS AIRBUSHING NOW IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!! Love your vids you motivate me big time so Thank You :)
gret work!!!! just a shot in the dark but would you happen to know where you found that image of the skull. i have searched for a month and only found it on a t shirt and it was all distorted. wuold love to use that image on a piece of mine. understand if you dont its been a while. any way tank turned out amazing!! i have watched it 20 times or more!!! thanks.
I have noticed a home made stencil from the internet looks way better than a store bought stencil. We did helmets with skulls and the best looking skull was home made.
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! When you've finished the artwork, what type and how many layers of transparent gloss paint/finsher did you use?? I don't think that I'll ever try something like this (I'll stick with illustration for me) but it's interesting to know just in case!
I'm doing as much research as possible before buying my first airbrush, this has been the most helpful video i have found on shadowing technique, and how to properly layer , great work

Nice, would have liked to seen you tape the entire skull and post multiple videos. Amazing job!
Wow dude, every time I think it looked "good enough", you added something to make it better. Truly talented man! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Anyone who hit "dislike" is a moron BTW.
Great stuff. I just bought my first rig from Craig's List and am watching everything I can and this is a top 10 video all day long.
Learning so much from your videos. Thanks for making them and posting up.
Best demonstration ever, Thanks.
