I am convinced that 50% of that fun you experienced came from driving a manual transmission. I've noticed that you had more fun exiting turns than going into them. I.e. going through gears. Grab a light car with a manual for a testdrive see how it compares.
I think the slighshots are a novelty vehicle that people get to cruise around in downtown areas. They are cool looking but that is about as far as I would go with them.. looking at them.
Still gets me your a Southern Georgia Boy and you're parents never learned how to teach you to drive a manual. Eather way welcome to the dark side you will never want a auto vehicle again
I live in europe (finland) and 97% of vehicles have automatic and still my relatives say that automatics are better and some friends wtf is this shit? And my dad was fking good at karting back in the day and still prefers automatic like kimi räikkönen
I test drove one of these a few months back and agree with almost everything you said. It is definitely just a toy, and not an everyday vehicle. With that being said, most of the times you were heavy on the throttle, it was in 3rd gear. Give it a run from a stop and see how you feel about the acceleration then. No, it’s not a bike, but it’s definitely peppier in the lower (1-2) gears
that roof has got to go. Bought one of the first shots my dealer sold. Trading up to a 2020 As soon as they reopen. My 17 has close to 29 grand in miles.
Chase should have pointed this out. Please "like" this so Chase can see this so he can make a video on this too. These type of vehicle is called an autocycle in some states, and many states have different laws on autocycles. I know my state which is Iowa, you can drive without a motorcycle license and you only need a normal driver's license. So you might need to read up the state laws on autocycles if your state has laws on autocycles.
I’m happy you're enjoying yourself. It looks like a lot of. We have slingshots here in NYC. But our roads are not suitable for that kind of vehicle. There are potholes literally everywhere here. Mostly the drug dealers drive them in NYC. It's fun but it's not a practical vehicle to own in most states. I can't wait to see you drive it in the twisties.!. Just be careful okay. Because I know for a fact you will drift on turns. Being its rear wheel drive.
Why hello there is is utterly pointless but I’m the 1000th viewer and it was just satisfying watching the views roll over. That’s all. Have a good day .
I suggest you get some manual / stick lessons now that you have got over the initial hump of learning clutch , gear lever , throttle coordination . Numerous times you approach an intersection /red light and just put it into neutral from third or fourth without cycling down through the gears . Once you start to drive faster and more confidently you will realise that that is a rookie mistake and one that will get you into a power of trouble if you havent learnt to gear/engine brake perfectly everytime .
In town rev matching is stupid, your using your clutch when you can use something cheaper called brakes.. Performance driving or highway, yea rev match.. but dont in town.
WHATEVER YOU DO: be very careful on the glossy plastics. It scratches incredibly easy. Had to clean these at a powersport dealership, hated cleaning these.
No,, great interview but the ruff help the sun burn. I have a 2024 SLR and I got to get a ruff. Very hot in the summer time. Much cooler with a top.. but some people like it without the top.. but you don’t see them in 98 degrees weather.. still great interview 😊
Hey chase , I commented on your last post , but I will again here. Please be aware of heel toe shifting and using the dead pedal instead of resting on the clutch. Also you said in the beginning that 3-5 gear is just repeating the process of 1st to second. While that might seem true , first gear on a vehicle is different then a bike. You shouldn't shift into first until you are stopped.
The design of the Slingshot makes it look like it was 4-wheeled at first, and someone managed to lose a wheel during the build-process, and had to just adapt it to be 3-wheeled
I feel like the front half was designed first, then they scrambled to put the rest of it together. the back looks like the hopper on a riding lawnmower to catch the clippings.
Chase my brother do you put your bike in nutral and just use the brake to stop. Use the gears just like you would on your bike to slow down. Then use the brakes in slower speed
How are the electronics as far as stabilizing you from skidding in corners? Do you find them tuned correctly or are they overly protective in that they don't let you have "too much fun"? Can they be altered or turned off completely?
EcoTec Variable Valve Timing. Its similar to Honda VTEC engines, but with no change in cam profile that give the vtec Honda motors the notorious BWAaaaaH sound at a certain RPM. Lol. It basically give you fuel economy at lower rpm and less than 70% throttle. At full throttle it allows more valve duration and more fuel, which gives more power in higher revs. VTEC motors actually switch cam profiles at a certain rpm to increase valve lift.. but this is GMs concept of that.
Looks like a fun track toy, but question, Slingshot or Miata? I think it would be better on acceleration if you had more experience with a stick shift.
I think it's supposed to be med. Power with light traction. It's kind of like an frs. Light weight. Med power. They put Prius tires of them for less grip. And it's still a sports car. But it's not mean to speed. It's meant to drift. I don't know if that's the case.
Chase drive an Audi RS3 or TT RS and engage launch control you will learn the definition of speed lol. Something about 4 wheel grip makes power to weight ratio go miles further.
In the UK if it has 3 wheels it's a trycicle and that's it so if I have a bike lice ce I can drive that and don't have to do a car test on top. So I guess that's a point :)
The brakes might have some build up on them since your have been driving in a parking lot for days. *Nitpick* The doors open like Gulwing doors. Lambo doors are the scissor style.
i think many americans are just pampered with their cars having so much power that they don't realise how fast a 300hp car is. and that the 600cc bike has bomb brakes which you can't compare with 300cc brakes or normal car brakes. it seems to me that not many people know how to enjoy the little things, like i keep hearing people whining that the toyota gt86 has too less power.. that thing has 200hp, drive a 75hp car and then you can say that that has too less power.
Make sure you're blippin that throttle when downshifting, just like a bike. When I first started learning I didn't know this at all and my face became one with the steering wheel a few times(slightly exaggerated). If you're really unlucky, your face will hit the wheel and the guy behind you will go right up your ass, this is especially true in lower speeds and in lower gears. Once you're comfy with that, try downshifting while braking!
You shouldn’t hold the clutch at a stoplight. It’s not like a motorcycle wet clutch. You can ware out the throw out barring by holding in the clutch, and it’s excess ware and tear on the clutch itself. I understand you’re learning and may not know. But a little bit of advice.
Agreed. But from purely a functional standpoint, the Atom wins every time. Even more, an old Jeep or Jimny will be more fun if being slow isn't a dealbreaker for you since it can go offroad and be completely open air as well.
Should have made that left on to my parents. Great little turns and some awesome chili down there at the old store. I work over there all the time and love going there for lunch. I know you have a route for the video but just saying lol.
Oh and that Rd is really fun. I live about 2 miles from there and always loved taking my bikes on it. If you turn at the little clock tower at the traffic light! It's short but super curvy and fun man
This is irrelevant but when those first came out I worked at a jiffy lube type place and we got in major truble for changing the oil on it because it's a "motorcycle"
Im getting a motorcycle for my only vehicle b/c im gunna turn 15 soon, sadly i cant get a sportsbike so im thinking of a KTM Duke (which is a sports bike but my dad doesnt know or a enduro hawk for my first 250cc
I love the slingshot, just not a fan of the roof. We are thinking of getting one and dropping in a supercharger for our skits and vlogs. Check out our skits, you will like them
You've been riding motorcycles why would you need to learn how to drive a standard? Maybe I'm missing something cause i learned to drive on stick and picked up MC shifting right away?
Pollen absolutely sucks. I'm in southern Tennessee and it's really bad up here too. Slingshot kinda sucks too. More bad than good. T-Rex on the other hand...
my motorcycle my only vehicle. I live by DC and 21 years old no regrets 2 years now. Car comes eventually they're more expensive all around though and boring to drive.
Also, VVT is like what makes a R6 go from mediocre to insane above 9k. The camshaft switches to a higher lift profile and gets more power, but because the Slingshot weighs more than a motorcycle it’s not as noticeable.
Granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should
Its from a movie BTW Chase, just dont think you'll get that reference. ok LOVE YOU BYE
Dominic Toretto to Brian in the first Fast and the Furious movie. :-)
LordTimelord after he lost his car
How you think I've never seen the first Fast and the Furious movie?
I figured you're more of a Sixteen Candles guy
Chase On Three Wheels
This might sound crazy, but i would love that thing with 4 wheels.
You ain't the only one, bro.
You have the Ariel Atom and the Atom V8!
they start at $50,000. This is at least a somewhat reasonable monthly payment.
Ian Thomas it’s not to much for a car who makes 0-60 8n 2,5 sec... i think the other cars who can make that cost more than a million!!! lol
I get it, I am just saying it would be cool to have this affordable of a package just with 4 wheels. Like a KTM x-bow or atom, but affordable
I did the opposite. I learned stick first in my car, and then when I got my M license I was able to pick up motorcycle shifting insanely fast
I am convinced that 50% of that fun you experienced came from driving a manual transmission. I've noticed that you had more fun exiting turns than going into them. I.e. going through gears.
Grab a light car with a manual for a testdrive see how it compares.
Chase you got to do some TEST DRIVE Series lol
The roof on the slingshot is to shade the seats on hot days. So you don't have to sit in fire when you park and come back
I think the slighshots are a novelty vehicle that people get to cruise around in downtown areas. They are cool looking but that is about as far as I would go with them.. looking at them.
Still gets me your a Southern Georgia Boy and you're parents never learned how to teach you to drive a manual. Eather way welcome to the dark side you will never want a auto vehicle again
So damn true
Firstimeshooter right he's never going to want to drive an automatic again
I live in europe (finland) and 97% of vehicles have automatic and still my relatives say that automatics are better and some friends wtf is this shit? And my dad was fking good at karting back in the day and still prefers automatic like kimi räikkönen
I mean 97% have manual
And i rather drive manual cuz u are in full control off the car and more fun
Outro crew here! Love the video bro!
I test drove one of these a few months back and agree with almost everything you said. It is definitely just a toy, and not an everyday vehicle. that roof has got to go. Bought one of the first shots my dealer sold. Trading up to a 2020 As soon as they reopen. My 17 has close to 29 grand in miles.
Damn you mastered that stick pretty quickly. Props.
Should have been front wheel drive or put 2 wheels in the back. Fwd and heated seats would be nice for winter.
Chase should have pointed this out. Please "like" this so Chase can see this so he can make a video on this too. These type of vehicle is called an autocycle in some states, and many states have different laws on autocycles. Here I am as an outro crew, that Slingshot is as you said, purely a toy. You don't buy it for practicality, but for fun!
You had me rolling when you said here's how you lift up the motor lol classic chase
That engine was used in the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice. This is literally the same thing but with one less rear wheel less weight and no trunk
I’m happy you're enjoying yourself. It looks like a lot of. We have slingshots here in NYC. But our roads are not suitable for that kind of vehicle. There are potholes literally everywhere here. SithLord 69 i think he gave it back already m80
Gotta be the coolest thing to learn how to drive stick in!
I just want to know how in the hell did u get it to that parking lot without knowing how to drive it?
That would be way better with the 6-sp and 2.0L boxer from a Subaru BRZ. The center of gravity would be lower and it would sound so much better.
Why hello there is is utterly pointless but I’m the 1000th viewer and it was just satisfying watching the views roll over. That’s all. Have a good day .

WHATEVER YOU DO: be very careful on the glossy plastics. It scratches incredibly easy. Had to clean these at a powersport dealership, hated cleaning these.
You've got to take it on Wolf Pen Gap. The car/motorcycle is basically made for it!
That motor was the exact motor from the Pontiac Solstice
Wait !!!!!!!!!! the fifth gear isn't brand new anymore?! ...... waaa well done Chase !!! Congrats^^
Eco tek is Ford speak for turbo. VVT is Variable Valve Timing(VTEC).
You'll get better braking once you get used to the "new controls" and can start using enginebraking aswell - downshifting works for cars/toys aswell 😉
No,, great interview but the ruff help the sun burn. I have a 2024 SLR and I got to get a ruff. Very hot in the summer time. Much cooler with a top.. but some people like it without the top.. but you don’t see them in 98 degrees weather.. still great interview 😊

Why in the world didn't you and yummi not do a dual vlog in that thing it would of been so fucking hilarious.
The design of the Slingshot makes it look like it was 4-wheeled at first, and someone managed to lose a wheel during the build-process, and had to just adapt it to be 3-wheeled
I feel like the front half was designed first, then they scrambled to put the rest of it together. the back looks like the hopper on a riding lawnmower to catch the clippings.
he in atlanta dats the main event i always went to😂😂
Chase my brother do you put your bike in nutral and just use the brake to stop. Use the gears just like you would on your bike to slow down. Then use the brakes in slower speed
How did you get it to the parking lot day after day if you didn’t drive it on the “road”? You are great Chase!
Chase, VVT stands for Variable Valve Timing. Think Honda VTEC.
How are the electronics as far as stabilizing you from skidding in corners? Do you find them tuned correctly or are they overly protective in that they don't let you have "too much fun"? Can they be altered or turned off completely?

I actually wanted a slingshot for my only vehicle but I guess you kind of changed my mind.
Apparently you need to study the law. GA count it as a motorcycle before, but changed last year to a car. So no helmet needed
Yea, I know some states are making autocycle laws, and some people does not them yet.
At the first light after you turned down that road take a left it’s a fun twisty road but low speed limit sadly
Don’t take it to the Dragon, Chase. We know what happens when you go riding there...😃
Chase drive an Audi RS3 or TT RS and engage launch control you will learn the definition of speed lol. Something about 4 wheel grip makes power to weight ratio go miles further.
Buddy you crazy my uncle has one and them things are fast as heck
In the UK if it has 3 wheels it's a trycicle and that's it so if I have a bike lice ce I can drive that and don't have to do a car test on top.
So I guess that's a point :)
Chase on three wheels!! :D
The brakes might have some build up on them since your have been driving in a parking lot for days.
*Nitpick*
The doors open like Gulwing doors. Lambo doors are the scissor style.
The vehicle that's takes the worst parts of a motorcycle and the worst parts of a car and puts it together
i think many americans are just pampered with their cars having so much power that they don't realise how fast a 300hp car is. and that the 600cc bike has bomb brakes which you can't compare with 300cc brakes or normal car brakes.

"power is not the most nesecary thing" chase's best quote sofar!

Front looks like some old school transformers
Needs a turbo
Cobalt SS turbo swap
And 4 wheels
Just buy a kit car at that point
They make turbo kits for them.
How does it feel turning that thing? does it hop as is you have a welded diff?
They should make a 4 wheel version
Hey Chase my uncle is giving me his 1981 suzuki gs550l and I was wondering if it would be a good starter
I'll never understand why anyone wants this thing. Would much rather have an Ariel Atom.
InvictvsNox HUGE price difference there... I doubt most people are cross shopping the two despite looking similar
Agreed. But from purely a functional standpoint, the Atom wins every time.
Even more, an old Jeep or Jimny will be more fun if being slow isn't a dealbreaker for you since it can go offroad and be completely open air as well.
Arial Atom (Nomad for me) would be best, if not on just two wheels. That being said, the Arial Atom is $80k+.
you should test drive the new miata and compare to the slingshot
4 cylinder engine with Variable Valve timing VVT
Should have made that left on to my parents. Great little turns and some awesome chili down there at the old store. I work over there all the time and love going there for lunch. I know you have a route for the video but just saying lol.
Just Now saw my comment, I meant Mt Paren. Damn auto correct
Oh and that Rd is really fun. I live about 2 miles from there and always loved taking my bikes on it. If you turn at the little clock tower at the traffic light! It's short but super curvy and fun man
Last comment and I am sorry! Was this on Sunday? Traffic is extremely light for where u are and by what I can tell from the sun light lmao
Chase u da best
Can you spray the radio with a power washer🤔
...yes confirmed (accidentally of course)
chaseontwowheels I think an adventure series of driving one through a car wash would be epic
In my opinion slingshots look ugly. It looks like your driving a car that has been cut in half.
I would get a slingshot as a main vehicle an a super moto as a secondary/recreational vehicle
Were you in the parkway point parking lot?
looks like a tight fit.. big boys stick to the busas
One of my pet peeves is your letting your foot rest on the clutch
Other than that your driving pretty well for having never driven a standard (car not bike(
Depends on your speed whether or not you will slow down faster than a bike, we did this in my physics class lmao
You talking about a Can-Am Spider?
Ive never seen a slingshot with a roof 😂
i love it
This is irrelevant but when those first came out I worked at a jiffy lube type place and we got in major truble for changing the oil on it because it's a "motorcycle"
are there laws stating that you cant change the oil on a motorcycle? or is it just company policy?
Jimi H that was just a company policy it's just a Chevy ecotec so we did it anyway.
Shouldn't be a problem as long as he backed out the way he came in.
Hunter White that's what we had him do we had him come in backwards for that reason. But corporate didn't care
has driving this made you want a manual car?
Im getting a motorcycle for my only vehicle b/c im gunna turn 15 soon, sadly i cant get a sportsbike so im thinking of a KTM Duke (which is a sports bike but my dad doesnt know or a enduro hawk for my first 250cc
How well does the AC work?
ur killing me, everytime u get to a stop no matter what gear ur in, u pop it into neutral......... DOWNSHIFT THROUGH MAN! lmao
unicronshole Literally no reason to shift to every gear when going for a stop..
Equalizer in MN, coasting is illegal, I know it varies state to state.
wtf
Wizzy Flow ikr
please test the zx10RR SE
So is it 2017 or 2018?
Do you need a motorcycle endorsement or just a driver's license to drive the slingshot?
Depending on the state with their autocycle laws if there is any too. I know with the state of Iowa, you just need a driver's license.
I love the slingshot, just not a fan of the roof. We are thinking of getting one and dropping in a supercharger for our skits and vlogs. Check out our skits, you will like them
A motorcycle is a vehicle, therefore, you're capable of operating a standard vehicle. Honestly I don't see the point in debating it.
The thumbnail says 2018... the title says 2017... which is it ?
its like a affordable lambo (well not the same power but u get the fuki*g point!)
3rd is probaly your direct drive 1:1 gear
do you really have to drop down your helmet's visor?!
Ia this front or rear wheel steering
there is some clever stuff going on here ;)
You've been riding motorcycles why would you need to learn how to drive a standard? Maybe I'm missing something cause i learned to drive on stick and picked up MC shifting right away?
Pollen absolutely sucks. I'm in southern Tennessee and it's really bad up here too. Slingshot kinda sucks too. More bad than good. T-Rex on the other hand...
the question on everyones minds...
will it do a burnout?
Jack Bennett yes it will. I worked at a powersports dealership and had to pull these out everyday. Burned out multiple times just playing around
Hell yeah! who needs to worry about welding your dif if u just remove a wheel
my motorcycle my only vehicle. I live by DC and 21 years old no regrets 2 years now. Car comes eventually they're more expensive all around though and boring to drive.
Fucking lighting bro! Damn i was blinded
how did he get to the parkinglot
Wtf was that at the end didn't quite catch it 😂🤔 25:46
Also, VVT is like what makes a R6 go from mediocre to insane above 9k. The camshaft switches to a higher lift profile and gets more power, but because the Slingshot weighs more than a motorcycle it’s not as noticeable.
who else is confused on who is recording from the front looking at him
On the highway, give it the beans! Thrash it. Use more revs.
