I use Airpods all the time when riding. First i had the same issues as u said in the video but after a while i got a balaclava and it works perfect together. just put Airpods in tightly, pull on your balaclava(readjust Airpods after if needed), and just put my helmet on while pulling the sides outwards ofc. With removing your helmet they stay in easily too. In summer it can be a tiny bit hot but just deal with that/ pull the eye hole more down if u got a stretchy one so almost your whole face is coming through and it'll be pretty doable. Just throwing that out there in case other people are struggling with the same problem
To become the most visible you can is simple. Just make you and your bike look as much like a cop as legally allowed. People are programmed to look out for police, they aren't programmed to look for a bright colored blob.
You can also use an Air Tag or a Tile and share its location with family. Not only can they find you, you can find your bike should someone wander off with it.
TLDR. Regarding earbuds, If you use noise canceling, probably helps. As far as popping out/losing them when you remove your helmet, if you have the earbud style with the downward stem, I use eyeglass straps/retainers (whatever you call them) and plug/connect the buds and run the "strap" behind my helmet. Keeps them together. As far as the "strap", soft, flexible is best. I have a Chums that I use fpr mountain bking--works for this too!
Here in UK a HiViz yellow jacket and white helmet is standard police wear sometimes even on covert bikes so when drivers see it they slow down until they are sure it is not police so good for the commute.
Another option for dash cams is using a sena 50c in loop record mode. You may need an external battery pack or a wired charging port on your bike for long rides, but it stays with your helmet so van go between bikes easily.
lol.. as soon as the smirk happened before you grabbed the light I know a - insert dad joke - was coming.. way to go and get ready to do a LOT MORE.. great list. keep up the fun cheers.
I am a new rider and not taking ANY unnecessary risks. I don’t leave home without my tech air 5, much less other riding gear. Picked up the Brake Free and am really happy with it. I think as a one-bike person I might go with the Chigee setup for dashcams. I got the Insta360 X4 for mountain biking (got some great crash footage) but I almost never ride with it on my motorcycle since setting it up seems like a PITA before each ride. If anyone has tips for making that less annoying I’m all ears.
Grab 1 or 2 of the insta360 clamps that they sell and just leave them on the bike. That way if you wanna record something just screw it one and go. Find a good spot in the front then one off the side or back to have two go-to angles.
My 3 season jacket (Fall/Winter/Spring) jacket had hi-viz on the shoulders and my helmet is hi-viz. My team at work can see me arrive out the windows, across the parking lot. My wife has seem be running round town when we went out on separate errands. My helmet is about due for an update and I want at least hi-viz accents on it. I picked up a construction vest from Walmart of all places for nights and rain riding. I try to keep all the light\/reflectors/hi-viz on my upper body where drivers will see it. Those gloves are bright, but they are down in the fairing of sport bikes and tourers. I'm starting my spring shopping list for updated gear (helmet), rain gear, and a possibly a brighter summer jacket.
riding glasses most don't work ,they are just overpriced workware glasses, they all let air in from sides not big enough, tip,buy cheap aliexpress wraparound buy some rubber superglue to make seal,no more runny eyes ,keep it up great videos from tasmania
Talking about the bills there at the end… i wrecked last year and still have a decent amount of medical attention and stuff left. Without insurance, it would be over $2 million so far. Thankfully I had health insurance and insurance for the bike. Unfortunately/fortunately I decided to just wear a helmet and gloves. Shoei X15 saved me from head damage/injuries other than a busted lip.
Here in Taiwan, dashcam is usually installed to the bike. Since so many outstanding drivers or scooter riders will hit you from the back or sudden brake that will make you suddenly can do a stoppie. Even my 1st gen MT09 have dash cam on the front and the back. It's a mess to install. But it saved me once from stoopid driver
I've been wanting the Brake free for awhile but until they release the white one in USB-C I'm holding out. I'm not sure why it's taking so long to update that color.
Just like being in multiple fistfights, you know it's best to avoid them. Loud mouths tend to have never been in one. Being in a wreck means a person knows the value of an airbag. High siding at 140 on the track was bad. But riding on the street is worse. There are no EMTs, ambulances, flag people, etc. I'm never without mine, and I've been fortunate to have tested many for a website.
I've got one an you can get it in white or black. Thank you brake free it has gotten me out of a ticket. I made a right turn on red not stopping an in front of a cop. He was maken a left at that time. I did kinda cut him off doing it. I past two cars then made my left on red. He liked the brake free so much be pulled up next to me to tell me that. that thing is the best thing he has ever saw on a biker. I said thanks an i was waiting for him to be mad but he wasnt an I went on my way wooo hooo thank you "brake free"
It's pretty basic when dealing with a crash.... A cam really isn't going to make or break your report. People pull out in front of people 24/7, it's not a hard concept to understand. The issue that you're going to run into is when you're beyond the speed limit. This will cause you to lose more often than not. Reason being, if you were going the speed limit, the crash may not have even happened. This puts you at fault.
You wore an asphalt colored helmet and a black jacket. Even in the video, you blended into the pavement, it’s not surprising drivers couldn’t see you. Yellow gloves aren’t gonna fix that buddy
@themedicalmarvels it's just an emoji 😂 I only said what I said because I had gotten hit on my motorcycle about 2 years ago by a woman that claimed she didn't see me when I had on a bright, construction cone, orange top, red helmet, riding a red kawasaki on a clear sunny day, in August. I was as bright as can be and still got run into, so like I said, it won't really matter with dumb drivers on the road. 😂
@ Emoji’s represent emotions. I thought that was obvious, I guess not to some people. I’m sorry you’ve experienced that. We’re trying to find ways to come home safely and enjoy our lifestyle. If that’s a joke to you, then Im not the guy you should chat with.

I will disagree with ear buds while driving, your helmet should be enough if not then buy a better one. You need to hear cars and sirens ens so no bad idea
Is there any helmet that’s going to protect your ears above 65 mph on its own? Ear buds aren’t a good choice for a multitude of reasons, but ear plugs are a necessity.
Hey chase. Just wondering if you'll be picking up the DJI Mic Mini to test? I'm about to start motovlogging and wondering if the the mini or the mic 2 would be a better suit for both recording in helmet (size) and recording exhaust noise (is 32 bit float important?). Hopefully you see this before I make a decision for purchase before christmas! @chaseontwowheels

Lights on helmets? I approve! 👍

Brake Free was one of the first "safety features" other than my helmet, I had purchased when I started riding a few months ago.

Dude that break free device is awesome, didn't know such thing exist. Thanks for sharing!

Great video. Thanks. And just in time for Christmas. I know what I am giving my son.
I think they'll really appreciate it!

I just ordered my black one. There is a white one.... Idk if you just haven't looked or are actively lying.
Brake free looks cool. I actually have built in lights on my helmet, Shark Skwal i3, and it does the same, plus you have lights on the front too.

Loop are the best, tried a lot, but this one are the easiest one to manage
Thanks for the info! - OC

"brake free"
So glad the ruckus is slow enough that i wont have to worry about ghe hearking loss due to wind noise....that being said, i also have some loops
I use the ESS Nolan for my helmet as a light works the same… cheaper for sure, I turn it on every time o ride at night or under rain …..
Airbag vests are going to be the ruin of the broken health care system in the US LOL!
Airpod fell to the back room.
Having airpods or earbuds while riding is illegal here in WA state so thats a no no sadly
Just remember that the Brake free is NOT LEGAL in every country! It's for example illegal to put ANYTHING on your helmet here in DK.
I've noticed cars behind give me more space at stops when wearing my helmet with the BF on.
I despise flashing break lights.

Tried loops but that hurt in the helmet
Wearing headphones or air pods are illegal in most state while using a motor vehicle. .
Earphones suck for protection anyway. Buy Earpeace Moto, Motosafe Pro, etc. No music. Loop sucks

As dumb as drivers are, it really won't matter 😂

Seems like someone doesn't ride, or already has crazy hearing loss and doesn't notice lol
No one notice that he’s like a Nazi or something? lol

I thought the same thing. I would like to pick one up but it’ll be in 2025 when I could make a video.
