Windows 7 is the best operating system out there which are hope Microsoft will continue to think about the 35% of Microsoft users are still using Windows 7 to provide support for them. I still get updates time to time from Microsoft too
windows 7 is only good because Microsoft updates ruins windows 10, and windows 11 is already ruined and is already wrecked when it is released and it is full of effort, windows 8 is already off, so windows 7 is their only hope.
@@ad1340yt how so? Windows 10 is ruined by the updates microsoft releases each second, and the fact that we have no control over our updates. And second thing, windows 11 is one big bloatware OS, with so much useless features, its interface is so much similar to MacOS. No creativity at all. If you are a fan of that, then I won't argue. The statistics say that 35% of the users are using windows 7. This did not come from no reason. There must be a reason for that, and I have just stated it. All of that is correct, and backed up with facts. What is the incorrect thing here? Or are you just a supporter of windows 11?
It's weird they aren't offering paid support to anyone who was willing to invest in it. Granted the paid support they did offer is stupid expensive, but there's no legitimate reason to let anyone tap into it if they wanted to. Excellent advice Brian. I know a lot of people still using 7 and even I have it on one of my old laptops which I only use for one function (it’s so old and underpowered that it won’t run windows 10, I’ve tried and it practically grinds to a halt). Keep up the good work.
it grinds to halt becoz you are using crappy HDD, just upgrade it to cheap 128gb ssd, install windows on an SSD and use ur old HDD in dvd rom by replacing it with HDD caddy. SSD is must for anyone using PC in 2022
@@snake2106 Why do you assume that I'm using a crappy HDD? In fact it has a Crucial MX500 installed. The problem is only 2 gigs of (non upgradeable) ram and a very slow Celeron processer.
@@PhD63 Celeron processor is also not a huge issue, the cpu usage on windows 10 is hardly any greater then it is on windows 7. Yes windows 10 consumes a lil but more ram but 4 gb of ram is enough.
I have come to the conclusion that if we trained people better on how to use their computers the need for anti malware would plummet. The last time I had a system that got infected I was ten and on Win XP. But as you said most people aren’t knowledgeable enough to be able to go at it using just windows defender and caution.
I don't use any commercial anti-virus and my PC is fine, but when I was not knowledgeable about computer then i needed an anti-virus because I didn't know what was doing, clicking on scams....etc
That is true about the training although some of us have it and still fail to follow best security practices due to laziness at times, myself included in that group.
absolutely fine point at the end mate, most tech people tend to forget the average users use computers in awfully unsecure manners in the first place anyhow, continuing to use 7 it will be before long they install some random junk that comes with some kiddy script malware and causes them a lot of issues.
Also you can ACTUALLY schedule the updates at any time instead of pausing the updates for only 1 week, and also there's an option to disable automatic update in Windows 7
@@bantymech8242 Yeah, better use Windows 10 or 11 for security and compatibility reasons, although the update is a bit more annoying in the recent versions of Windows
I still use Windows 7 in a virtual machine on Linux Mint. Mostly just for running some Windows apps that there's not a good equivalent to on Linux, however it rarely is used to go online, all of that is done on the host machine.
Hell, a Windows without these damn updates all the time is a blessing!! Had my 2010 Tower revived this year installed Linux which kept destroying it's Graphics-Drivers, Windows 10 on my Laptop goes out of action each week 3 or 4 hours for goddamn Updates and Win7? Two Days to get the Updates and now just running flawlessly! The best Windows Experience i had in my life!
Thanks for this update, Brian. Message received and understood, but... As per my comment yesterday, I'm still running 7 because of lack of funds to upgrade my hardware. Also, I made the observation, that I'm still running it out of curiosity, to see how long it will take to get hacked and Yes, I'm fully backed up. Thank you also for the comment about only having one Anti-Virus programme on your computer. As a Community Volunteer for many years, I frequently had to sort out computers which had multiple AV progs installed, because family members told the person concerned, that this AV was superior to that AV and in many cases, installed a new AV without first uninstalling the previous AV. What was more frustrating, was when a Paid-for AV such as Kaspersky IS, was replaced with Freebie that was suspect. I lost count of how many times someone had installed AVG on a PC, when the owner had previously removed it and replaced it with Kaspersky, on my recommendation. Please note, I have been using KIS since 2006, when Norton stopped supporting Windows 2000. To date - and despite all the hype surrounding Kaspersky and the fact it's Russian - I've never had a problem with it, as it's always been very reliable. Like Comodo, it throws up a little box from the Systray, whenever I go to a site it thinks suspicious, or try to download software from the Internet. Once again, a great video, which is much appreciated.
True Kaspersky really does gives you very good protection also doesnt hampers ur pc performance.I will recommand you to try kaspersky Security Cloud which is free also gives very good protection like premium antivirus but never use win7 without antivirus that is too much risky.
My take on using an older OS is simple. The idea that hackers are going to be focusing an older OS is very, very slim. It simply is not profitable for them to spend time focused on an older OS that few people are using and of those using them even fewer are capable of offering them the exploits they are after. So to say using an older OS is somehow dangerous is really just double speak done by the OS developers to get you to upgrade to their latest and greatest. In fact the way I see it using an older OS is actually the safest option there is, since hackers are not even focused on it or trying to exploit an OS that is not being used and I prefer using them for this very reason. I have two computers using Win 7 and one using XP and have never had an issue with any of them.
I have windows xp and 7 as well but I do like the windows 7 isos with the extended updates. I guess he thinks every iso not from microsoft is filled with nastys lol.
If you are not noob like some regular windows users, there is no way ur PC will get infected. I have never used Anti virus and my PC never got infected by virus becoz i know where not to click on websites, which pirated softwares not to install. Even installing windows 10 is no big deal lol, most people who complain about windows 10 running slow are using old crappy HDD. Don't know why these people torture themselves, just buy a cheap 128gb SSD for & install windows 10 on it and use old HDD in DVD rom by placing it in HDD 2.5 inch caddy. Windows 10 on an SSD runs even faster then windows 7 does on SSD.
@@snake2106 The only time I was infected of late was my fault so i just did a fresh install of windows. It is rather silly to think new malware is even going to run on like windows xp or older and going to most websites wont get you infected so this idea by some that we are sitting ducks just because we use an older os are foolish at best.
I'm running Windows 7 and the viruses are fine. Seriously though, I've kept it on my bedroom PC (connected to a 50" TV) because I like the Media Center and I have the dedicated Microsoft Media Center remote. I don't need HDR or any other Win 10 features and it's super snappy with a 3.3Ghz intel i3, 8Gb RAM, SSD and older but quite beefy AMD GPU. Just have the free version of Bitdefender, periodically run AdwCleaner and use Patch My PC to keep programs up to date. Probably won't stop using it on that PC until programs become totally unsupported.
Well, if the browsers such as Chrome and Firefox can't receive updates anymore because of its end of support for Windows 7 (that will happen in the early January 2023), you can still use them normally for 2-3 years after its end of support date. After that, you may start noticing something weird, such as can't load the image on any webpage, can't play videos, can't install the extension, etc.
I'm also using my old PC as a media center for my bedroom but I put Linux Mint OS, like this there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Also using a VPN when I want to watch free stuff on the interwebs.
@@snake2106 obviously! it was developed before SSDs,. Nothing updates couldn't fix, they even introduced directstorage to windows 10 as a feature update, why do you think they can't do the same for windows 7?
@@By-s Why would they ? windows 7 is old outdated OS. Seriously after using windows 8.1 and 10 for soo long its hard to use windows 7 again. My dell laptop bought in 2012 even came with windows 7 but i upgraded immediately to windows 8 in 2013, windows 8 was also faster then 7 but the UI was crap, so after sometime windows 8.1 came which was 10x better then both 7 and 8, you could just simply install classic shell in windows 8.1 to bring back windows 7 style start menu. Everything is improvement in both 8.1 and 10 whether its look of task manager or file explorer. There is only a handful of minority online who just speak non sense BS and claim that windows 7 is the best OS ever blah blah, no its not. Most of these people don't even know about SSD.
@@snake2106 Win 8 and 10 are bloated beyond belief, they could've fixed what was wrong with 7 and bring it to modern age, but then they can't sell new OS, is it was all business, but instead of taking notes of what was great about win 7 and building upon, they gave us unoptimized and bloated OS, just look at the performance of Linux's proton; it laterally translates API calls from windows to Linux in real time, yet it manages to get equal or better performance, this says a lot about how inefficient windows as an OS is.
it is not about the system mostly, it is about the user, I know people who use windows 7 and they are still fine and other people who use windows 10 and they got hacked easily without any extreme effort, it is not all the time about the system, it is your knowledge of how to handle a system.

Everything you stated in this video applies to Windows 10 just as much as Windows 7. The fact of the matter is that the only way to have a 100% secure system is to not connect it to the internet and to never introduce software that came off of the internet. True enough that Windows 7 will not be receiving any more security updates, but at the same time Windows 10 has exploits that will never be fixed. Why? Because Windows 10 will one day reach end of life just as Windows 7 has. Do we really have any sort of solid information that states the likelihood of being compromised on Windows 7 vs. Windows 10? Is it a fact that Windows 7 has vulnerabilities that Windows 10 doesn't? Absolutely, but Windows 10 is not immune to malware or hackers either, and patches don't help someone that was already compromised. The best thing you can do is to *be* *careful* about how you use the internet.
It is essential these days to have a primary back up on which you secure the original uncompromised system AND any other relevant data applicable that can be restored safely and securely IN the event of a compromised system or failure et👀
I noticed that you made no mention of Malwarebytes nor cCleaner. Is that because they are paid subscriptions? Of the two other OS's, 10 & 11, which would you recommend? Both seem to have their fair share of horror stories.
There's gonna come a time when my browser no longer supports W7, and that's when I'll stop using it. I also have Win 10 Pro, and for the last 2 months MS have stopped sending me their security updates , but not by my doing. sfc /scannow tells me no system violations. So as it seems I can't receive W10 updates any longer I may as well continue to stick with W7 as it's much simpler and straightforward to use than W10 . I mainly use Linux anyway these days, which has been issue-free so far. I'm no longer that bothered with MS and the grief and complications they cause for so many users since W10. All I can say is take the trouble to learn Linux folks! Best system choice I made, and worth it in the end. Then you can finally give MS the finger.
I'm running Windows 7 on a 32GB Ryzen 7 desktop PC I built in 2020. The only built-in port not supported is USB-C (no updated driver available). No problem, I just use a USB-C to USB-3 adapter. I also continue to use the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7. Windows 10 has only a year left till it gets EOL'ed, I personally cannot stomach Windows 11, and I have no motivation to "upgrade" from Win7. Yes, there are apps that no longer support Windows 7, but they all run on MacBooks just as well, and svelte little M1 laptops have gotten very affordable lately...
LOL I've still got a couple PCs running XP and Vista. But they're only used as gaming emulators and NEVER connected to a network. If they need updating, it's via a USB or hard drive to add games. Unfortunately its a PITA to change them over to Linux to run the same games (yes it can be done,. but while it ain't broke). But always good advice - have a backup of your backups regardless.
Hello, Brian. Many thanks for your sensible advice. May I ask you a quick question, please? A quick answer of Yes or No would be much appreciated. I have both W7 and W8.1 on my PC (dual something-or-other), and hope to replace W7 with Linux Mint soon. I have the same Google Chrome account on both, but now only use it on W8.1 and for being online. Is it safe for me to uninstall Chrome from W7, without it drastically affecting my Chrome on W8.1??? Sorry, but I have no knowledge or understanding of computer technology and programming, and would be devastated if I lost my Google Chrome account from W8.1, as I never use W7 for being online anymore. Many thanks, Patricia.

I've got installed software on my Windows 7 laptop that I can't get anymore. I've also got a Windows 10 installation disc - but my concern is that should I upgrade to Windows 10 and find that my useful software no longer runs: what do I do? So unless I can get assurance that my existing software will continue to run under an ungraded environment, I think I will stick with the old Windows 7. That said, I'll probably take on board the safety recommendations you made in your video.
I still use Win 7 on one of my computers. However, I only use it off -line. On my main computer I'm using Windows 10 pro. Even though it can run Windows 11, I don't see any advantage to upgrading to 11 (plus I don't like it that much). Hopefully Windows 12 will be a more worthy upgrade.
My problem with Linux is that some drivers just simply aren’t compatible with the hardware you have. I’m talking video drivers, audio drivers, etc. I will say that things have come a long way in the last couple of years but it’s still not where it needs to be. I also don’t believe in trashing a computer just because it’s no longer compatible with the latest version of Windows so exploring options such as this is what I’m stuck doing.
I would really like it if you can give me a list of of those services to disable because that would speed up my system even more or were those services on the video enough? I would also like to know if I should give the update service one more try because the vendor from the site I bought the key recommended I disable it. Coincidentally the iso had a long name, had updates in already, I couldn't fit in onto a standard dvd and I couldn't use that tool to alter the iso myself.

Microsoft Edge is usually pushed onto 2022 Windows 7 users in unknown updates that run in the background. Yesterday I went on my W7 PC twice and there was no MS Edge and today I logged in in the morning and there was MS Edge. So yes, It’s very safe, since the OS installed it for you

Users must learn to back up and secure original operating system (uncompromised et ) plus any other relevant back up data as required. NOT after the event but safely BEFORE such takes place. 👀 DO remember that your software / programs (we are not talking Windows operating system re Win 7 et here) can be compromised directly or indirectly.😗 Make sure you keep those programs updated (ie patches et FROM the software company et as applicable. )👀 WiFI is extremely vulnerable and has its own issues. Make sure you do your research on WHY this can be problematic. (There are plenty of vids on UA-cam that covers this.) Do remember that WiFi and its vulnerabilities can apply to almost ALL users and their systems using that WiFi connection. 😗This also applies to using WiFi in the 'wild' ie outside connections using free WiFi et at cafes/stores/transport et Be VERY careful when using such WiFi in the 'wild' and that also applies to your MOBILE PHONE or TABLET et !! Corect !!!! The vulnarable source is the public internet not the OS. So by securing your connections or disable them you eliminate the thread !!! There is no malware , privacy leakages or remote controling from thirds when you are offline. Secure internet connection (and comunnications general) is a continiued war not a fight. We discaver new deffending weapons and the next day attacers have find the answer . So nothing is secure online, have that always in your mind . Linux has less victims because used from significant less users (2-4%) globaly when windows are used from 85-87% . That not make Linux safer but make it less profitable for attacers. Any pc that can run Windows XP , Vista , 7 , 8 , 8.1 can run Windows 10 x32 or x64 as they have exactly same cores (NT) and apps combatibility. I use Windows 10 LTSC on 22 years old machines with Intel Pentium 3 and Celeron CPUs with one core and 2GB RAM 333MHz DDR1 without any problem. And because LTSC are full debloated these pcs are runing faster and more stable than they did with their original OS. I do not recomend Windows 11 because their security depended on hardware improovments that are not exist on older machines, they do not support x32 systems and they have not drivers for older stuff. So they are useles on older machines and became extremely vulnarable without TPM , Secure Boot, and indedicated CPU ,as their improoved security depends on them. Averege users without any knowledge about OS and pcs is good to trust expirienced technicians and get their advices and support . In most cases that not cost anything and can save from desasters.
Hi Brian, luv your vids. Is Avast better than MS Security Essentials? Is Comodo better than the Win7 built in firewall? Would buy a used Win10 PC but need Office ($150). I already have Office 2007, any help on how to upgrade for free?

How vulnerable (or otherwise) would my PC be if I installed Windows 7 inside a virtual machine running on Linux? I am currently migrating from Windows 10 to Mint 20.3. I have one old "must have" Windows program (PAF5) that doesn't want to play nicely when installed inside Wine so I am considering what other alternatives might be available.
The VM should isolate but not eliminate Win7's vulnerabilities. So after building the VM duplicate it, not snapshot it, and operate on duplicates. Don't use the original VM for anything but AV updates and future duplicates. Keep in mind nothing is 100% safe. Oh. And follow all the steps from this video on the original VM build.
Remember, once the computers connected to the local network, People can gain access through that computer to gain access to your network because it's not being updated anymore with security updates or patches. So there's always a risk of a breach

The discovery led to the extensions of the Avast and AVG brands being temporarily removed from the Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera extension stores... In January 2020, a joint investigation by Motherboard and PCMag found that the Avast Antivirus and AVG AntiVirus Free version were collecting user data, which was being resold to personalize advertising through a subsidiary"

I'm ready glad they made this video because Windows 7 is still what a lot people use because they don't want to upgrade.
W7 is best Windows ever about looking and working, just awesome and i will be using until my pc fully dies
@@cozakokotano6448 incorrect
[I'm pretty sure even the paid extended support is over now, could be wrong]
Excellent advice Brian. I know a lot of people still using 7 and even I have it on one of my old laptops which I only use for one function (it’s so old and underpowered that it won’t run windows 10, I’ve tried and it practically grinds to a halt). Keep up the good work.
Glad it was helpful!
it grinds to halt becoz you are using crappy HDD, just upgrade it to cheap 128gb ssd, install windows on an SSD and use ur old HDD in dvd rom by replacing it with HDD caddy.

I don't use any commercial anti-virus and my PC is fine, but when I was not knowledgeable about computer then i needed an anti-virus because I didn't know what was doing, clicking on scams....etc
same here, pal, finally someone who has the same idea as me.
Thanks Major Skies
Actually my most lovable and favorite operating system by Microsoft.
Windows 7, fast,very snappy, responsive 😎
A lot of people love Windows 7
Also you can ACTUALLY schedule the updates at any time instead of pausing the updates for only 1 week, and also there's an option to disable automatic update in Windows 7
@@sihamhamda47 Sadly I'm not using it. Because most of the games won't run
@@bantymech8242 Yeah, better use Windows 10 or 11 for security and compatibility reasons, although the update is a bit more annoying in the recent versions of Windows
If it were possible, I'd still be using Windows 2000, despite the fact that 7 is clearly superior. it's down to the fact, I like the way W2K works.
Once again, a great video, which is much appreciated.
did you use a tool to get the extended security updates?
Plus, people who use older oses are most likely tech savvy
It is rather silly to think new malware is even going to run on like windows xp or older and going to most websites wont get you infected so this idea by some that we are sitting ducks just because we use an older os are foolish at best.
no, you're not any safer for running an unsupported OS. stop coping.
Excellent advice Brian, thank you so much..

Windows peaked in 7, after that it was downhill, we all know that we just want windows 7 with support for DX12, that would be perfection.

How can I install updates for 2023 in Windows 7? What about unofficial updates for 2025 for use on Windows 7 as well?
it is not about the system mostly, it is about the user, I know people who use windows 7 and they are still fine and other people who use windows 10 and they got hacked easily without any extreme effort, it is not all the time about the system, it is your knowledge of how to handle a system.

Brian has finally conceded that Windows 7 is the best OS
I never said it wasn't, just people don't listen to what I say and skip video and then chew me out in the comments
There are no dangers to Windows 7.
Don't download software from unverified untrsable sources, and yoru Windows 7 system (or anoy other OS0 will be rock solid as heck. Been running Windows 7 wihtout a single virus since... well. since it came out... and this is 2023.
you can get security patches untill 2023 by using a tool that patches the windows updater to get the esu.
Windows security essentials is still updating and working on my windows 7. What is wrong with just using that.

I miss Win7, but Lubuntu fits my needs fine.
Yeah, I think if for whatever reason I wanted to avoid issues with Win 10/11 Id opt for a Linux distro rather than an old version of Windows.

I'll be sorry to see the last of my W7 but, at 71, I know I must continue to move with the times. Stay well, wherever you are.😊☘
I've got installed software on my Windows 7 laptop that I can't get anymore. I've also got a Windows 10 installation disc - but my concern is that should I upgrade to Windows 10 and find that my useful software no longer runs: what do I do? So unless I can get assurance that my existing software will continue to run under an ungraded environment, I think I will stick with the old Windows 7.

You can use Firefox instead of Google Chrome, as the latter will end support for Windows 7 and 8.1 next year.
Thanks !
why did you Disable the Local Defender ( at 7:25) ?
Brian when do you think that Microsoft will drop Windows 7 altogether? Mind you I have got used to 10 now and am quite liking 11 although I have to run it (11) on an unsupported hardware machine as I am not that much in a hurry to upgrade my one and only machine to 11 just yet. I agree with you about those who are very against not using 7 anymore in that they are in my mind (and I am assuming yours) a tad unrealistic to say the least.
can u still install programs, games on windows 7?
ah memories i love the windows 7 man it was so good when i was playing older games like gta 4 the amazing spider man call of duty xd
You can use windows 7 forever but:
1. Use antivirus(or offline)
2. Can't using new versions of softwares
3. Can't playing new games and update drivers
I dont playing games and i dont run new softwares and work fine
1. I only use it offline
2. No problem
3. I don't play modern games so no problem as well
Is there a guide how to install?tried few months ago and mouse stuck on the startup
Its far too risky to use online it has so many unpatched holes in it including the print spooler issue from not to long ago that was never patched on windows 7
I agree, if you look at how many vulnerabilities they patch on windows 10/11 and windows 7 is not being patch like that.
what print spooler issue?
I guess there was no issue after all lol
Great video. Just wondering how much will I have to do in 2025 with my win10.
Microsoft edge is same version as windows 11 and still supported on windows 7 also if you know what you are doing you can still get security updates and use windows security software
I hate Microsoft. 😡😤😑 Why they stopped it, win7 is my favorite 😭😭😭
I was thinking about using an "updated" windows 7 iso but now i know to stay away from those, i replaced it with a windows 7 from the dell os recovery tool
This is really a terrible showcase of misinformation. The *MOST* important thing you could do to a windows 7 install is keep it up to date with the business-exclusive update channel. Scaremongering that those patches "come from russia" while promoting Avast "security software" which harvests user data from a former soviet state is.... strange, to say the least.
"In late 2019, Avast browser extensions were found to collect user data, including browsing behavior and history, and send it to a remote server.
Who the fuck needs Windows updates when you have a good antivirus?
I have tried to instal Windows 7 from scratch with the authentic installation discs, but every time the install stops because of a 'missing file' and quits.I disconnect all my other SSD''s so the formatted SSD was the only one working/
My Windows 10 are just upgrades from Windows 7. Ijust want Win 7 because that will play a lot of games in have on disc's that "in 10 turns its nose up on them.
I only want it for my old games, browser for YT and films etc., so no email or banking use at all, so rather miffed....
I even tried installing Windows XP Pro, but that didn't go well either..
Hi Thanks for your video
How can i download the Win7 ISO From microsoft ?
