Glad to hear there are noticeable improvements in the v2.0. Great video, man!
Board grab always gets me 😱
Good to see that these switches are good stock. I’m just at a point where I’m done lubing switches, really tedious process really. So this is really great.
honestly same i've just gotten so lazy LOL
@@TofuTypes Hey man I cant make up my mind. I got an av4 here with me but need to finally buy some switches. I already have the oil kings on my other board so looking for another great pre lubed switch. Do you by any chance have some recommendations besides this switch? Thanks
@@hockey_hungry there's a lot of good pre-lubed switches out there nowadays, cream sodas, pureberries, tropical water v2's, anything from invokeys would be a good place to start
@@TofuTypes beautiful, will look into these. Thank you so much!
Will you be reviewing the black jackets? Love your switch reviews. I think the only thing more I would ask for is to have a shoobs-style comparison between different linears. Maybe if you had like 4 or 5 'generic' linears to compare switches to and have a quick one key sound test side by side that'd be really helpful.
that i'm not sure yet :) depending on kahlil and if our timeline can match up haha. That's actually kind of tough to do since I harvest a lot of my switches once I make videos of them... i may have like 2 that are untouched. I definitely understand the value of it tho!
Dawg that hoodie is so fucking cool
my thanks ;)
I only have 1 sample. In stock condition, it felt like it had some kind of resistance that felt like a tactile bump when actuating it (I think it's the HPE material while completely dry..? IDK). It didn't feel that good until I lubed it lightly with TriboSys 3203 (stem and housing rails only, no pole) and the problem is solved; smoothness is a top notch! Not a single trace of scratch, whether in feel or sound. An incredibly solid switch! Still prefer the Tofu for the more vibrant clack and slightly shorter travel though, hahah.
Great content as always!
oh interesting did not know about that bump, all of mine had pretty generous lubing on the legs so didn't notice any snagging or anything like that :3 thank you thank you
Definitely agree that Tecsee molds do not play well with plates, FR4 in particular
LOL that cutoff
holy hell the style of your videos have been getting cooler and cooler and these switches seem like a pick up ngl
thank you thank you :) switches aren't bad either i recommend!
Really be careful about putting them in a harder material plate, they fit super tight. Some of the switches I had in an aluminum plate were impossible to remove without damaging the switch :(
How would you say these compare to the green jackets? I am looking for a clacky long pole switch and wondering what would be the best option in your opinion 🙏
Appreciate your take on these switches! It seems like almost all the new linear switches I hear about are using a long pole stem/have reduced travel. Just curious, do you have any current favorites for linears with a standard 4.0 mm travel distance? I’m realizing that of the boards I have currently built, more than half have long pole switches.
as far as normal 4mm distance the only switches in any of my boards that match that are my blacks and my heavy grail LOL all the others are long pole
@@TofuTypes Gotcha, thanks for the reply! I still need to try out the MX Blacks, I have some SP Star Meteor Whites in a Bakeneko that I really enjoy, which I've heard some compare to MX blacks.
Very Poggy Woggy
for my batch they suffer from audible spring crunch, especially noticeable while using higher profile caps like on my KAT set.
Do your red jacket v1s have inconsistent stem travel from switch to switch? I have heard reports of red jacket v1s having inconsistent stem travel but I'm not sure if that is true.
How do these compare to the new Strawberry Milk Ice? they use the same UC nylong housing but with different stems
How do these compare to the green jacket linears?
Did you review the non-hand lubed one? On the site there's a regular one and a hand-lubed version
Also curious. Edit: I think these are the factory lubed and not hand lubed after watching a bit more
What is that action figure statue switch holder called 0:47? Are there different kinds of that? I'd like to have one.
It’s an artisan holder from latrialum. It was a raffle win but you can maybe find it for sale on mechmarket
The return of the manic grab... Play Val with the others and I when you have the chance >:)
What's up with the keyboard grab😂
gotta keep you on your toes LOL
Where can i buy that lady that holds switches?
It was a raffle win from latrialum!
“Even with the lube only being on the legs, leaf, and spring”
Isn’t that Gazzew method? Which has been said by many trusted sources including Gazzew of course, Kirball, etc. to be a legitimate and ideal time-saving method of lubing? I’m just saying you say it as if it’s a negative, but decent quality info says it’s as good as whatever a regular lubing method is
I’m not saying it’s a negative, it’s part of the reason why for my own tofu switches they’re lubed the same way. Just wanted to make the point for some people who cared that the original red jackets were hand lubed that I wouldn’t bother relubing the 2.0’s
@jammies - No, it isn't the Gazzew method. The Gazzew method is to put a half-grain of rice sized amount of lube on the very top of the slider rails in the bottom housing and donut dip the spring. These are lubed on the legs, which contact the leaf. If you did that with a tactile switch (Gazzew's method was created for tactiles) it would eliminate the tactility of the switch. The method in which these are lubed and Gazzew's recommended lubing method is completely different.
@@aj4123 thank you for the clarification. Not sure what I was thinking
