These come in tactile as well and gj tactiles are my favorite switch right now. Worth giving a shot!

Ayooo! We have the exact same definition for a long pole switch: *reduced travel.* If the pole is longer than standard but the recepticle is lowered down, the switch still travels 4mm. Also, legit question here: if tolerances are tight enough, is there a benefit to filming? My limited understanding was films work to tighten loose tolerance switch housing! Great video, man. Cheers!
Little to no benefit to filming if the housing already has tight tolerances. Not exactly worth the effort and film to do it. Though it might be worth it if you're making a franken-switch.
I think it’s better to differentiate how the bottom out, long pole vs. short travel. Long pole should be defined if only the pole is in impact with the bottom housing, and a separate category for those “short travel” switches.
I'd argue the long pole be only reserved to switches with stems that are longer than normal and call the ones that do bottom out on the pole, 'pole bottom out' since long pole seems kind of disingenuous when the pole hole in switches could be shortened for the same effect
@@waterbottler2761 But if a long pole switch does not bottom out at the end of the stem, then what is the difference between them and a regular pole length switch? You are correct that shortening the pole hole (making the hole base higher) could achieve the same thing, but I don't think such a switch exists. If you know of any, please let me know. I would love to try them.
For this reason, I think that @DanHamJunKie is right.
I love Maker Mod's videos, but his definition of long pole switches equaling shorter travel is wrong. The main characteristic of long pole switches is that the stem bottoms out. The shorter travel distance is just a side effect of that.
These switches, HMX YG Macchiato Linear Switches, further confirm it. They are long pole switches (i.e. the stem bottoms out) but keep the same 4.0mm travel distance.

I prefer the sound signature of the green jackets to the zakus, but you can't go wrong with either!
I feel like they are kind of clacky-thock tbh. I have the tactiles and I think they are the clackiest thocky long pole I own

to be honest, I'm kind of over long poles, I don't think they differentiate enough in sound all that much and you mostly hear the keycap quality more than the switch.
Yeah Im just not into them either. I wish they weren't all the rage right now, there is little room for anything but long poles in the current keeb meta.

Totally agree… it’s funny because so many new Long poles are coming out but I feel like… the hype train has left the station, but the manufacturers didn’t get the memo :P I don’t see how much more room there is for innovation in the linear space though, besides better materials or stock experience? I feel like we’re kind of at the limit :P
@@MakerMods manus got sidetracked because long poles are a cheat code, a good one at that admittedly, but we are bursting at the seams now with them. At least tactiles are showing some really cool innovations and silents as well.

Easily these, although most of the difference is in the sound signature of each switch! Geon blacks are much higher pitched :P
