I have just picked up an identical Bebop like this, boxed etc with Sky Controller. All 4 batteries it came with are fully depleted, so I need to do this conversion soon. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
Hey! I purchased the sky controller at the second hand store and thought it came with the drone. It did not. Would I be better off selling it or finding a drone to pair it?
That is a good question! The part you have is actually the more difficult part to find. It is the more expensive component. That means getting the drone is now the easy part. However, if you were to sell it you will get more money that you could use to get a different drone. So you have a decision I do not envy! Do you know that the controller works? It would be a shame to get the drone and find out the controller isn't working.
It does still show the battery percentage on the app. I have not tested it for accuracy, but it does work. I've actually always landed early, so I've never let it do a self land due to a low battery. I would assume it will since the battery percentage works, but I never tested that feature with the original battery or this replacement.
I haven't flown it in a while, but I think it was about 15 minutes. It was just a minute or 2 longer than the original. But the battery is much better quality than the original. And it is hard to get original replacements, but these are easy to find.
The flight time was about the same as with the original battery. Maybe a touch longer. But I can get the batteries much cheaper and the quality is better.
This is a link to the battery I ended up using. It works well and didn't cost a fortune. www.ebay.com/itm/185353560996?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_slkSpZfT7K&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bwWTw66aRma&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I used a USB OTG connector cable to connect a USB flash drive with the firmware update on it. I think I got the directions from the Parrot website when I downloaded the firmware.

When you do this, are you able to track battery percentage on the app? And does the drone know to land itself when battery is low?

How many minutes normal flying can you get with 1500 mamp battery?

And how much did the flight time increase?

Which battery have you used?
OVONIC Lipo Battery 11.1V 120C 1500mAh 3S RC Battery with XT60 Plug for FPV Racing Drone Quadcopter Helicopter Airplane RC Boat RC Car RC Models(2 Pack) a.co/d/h6BwBiE
I've also used a 2200mAh from the same company, although the runtime boost is not exactly linear due to the extra weight.
How did you do the firmware update?
I used a USB OTG connector cable to connect a USB flash drive with the firmware update on it. I think I got the directions from the Parrot website when I downloaded the firmware.
How's it going?
Not bad. Haven't done anything new with the drone lately though.
