THIS is how pedals should be reviewed! Yeah, guitars are nice but the fact that you displayed what the Deco could do on multiple sources is really the way to do this! Nice tune btw.
Best review I’ve seen. I could smell what was cooking as you walked through the individual parts… but wasn’t expecting the full production to be so good! You’ve got a subscriber here. Also picking up a Deco asap!
Tight video man! I've been wondering if this pedal would be the one stop shop for live/reamp tape sat/wobble on multiple sources and you've proven to me that this may need to be added to the collection!! Song is really great and has a timeless sound to it. Keep it up man! Subbed!
I've honestly wanted a Deco since the first demos hit the web 5 or so years ago. This might be the video that finally convinces me to buy one. Love your channel!
Excellent video! I love my Strymon Deco. Did you run the effects through the send/return of your board or the digital world equivalent. Also saw your Acid Box III video as well, and it inspired me to put my Waldorf 2 Pole in my effects chain on my 2404VLZ 4!
Great demo! IMHO, in context of the 1080p audio quality of YT, the Deco doesn't seem to significantly lower the presence, clarity, natural snoothness, or fidelity of the raw tone from any instrument. Furthernore, it doesn't appear to impose a 'Strymon flavour' to every instrument, which is appreciated & enhances its versatility. 👍👍 Also, I enuoyed your very well-written, catchy, pro-recorded & radio-friendly pop song! Kudos! 👍👍
Really cool. Here's a question. What is up with the price of analog synths? I have an 80s roland that I bought, completely rebuilt, it is worth five times what I paid for it? Now I understand economics but if they are worth so much why doesn't roland or whoever reissue these modles?
it costs a lot of money to produce analogue synths of those quality, so Roland specifically is opting for digital versions of those vintage analogue synths, much to the dismay of synth enthusiasts themselves. Behringer is doing what you're suggesting though, if you're okay with a marginal difference in sound but substantial difference in build quality.
I actually just purchased the Deco yesterday and waiting for it to arrive. After listening to your sounds, I'm excited. Do you think it can handle being in a stereo bus and applying to a final mix? I know you show it applied to everything, but Im wondering in a live performance if it could work as a last piece or where in the overall mix you would put it? Well done!
@@GustavSandstedt Funny you should ask now. I actually had to send the Deco to Strymon to fix an issue with the power. I am using it now with guitar. Have not tried it yet on an entire mix.
@@GustavSandstedt Thought Id share an update. Im using the Deco on my pedalboard and so far have only played an electric guitar. Im not sure this pedal is worth 300 bucks. IT does some volume / saturation boost and it does the doubling / delay thing too. But, for an overall mix, I prefer my JHS Colour Box at the end. I get the boost if needed and I get EQ controls. Deco is just an effect with no eq. If you are recording to a DAW, the Deco kind of makes no sense. But then again, neither would a bunch of EQ. For live use, Id rather have the flexibility of an EQ to make my sounds work with the room.
You write great hooks, great countermelodies. Real special at that.

it really warmed up my minilogue xd. now it sounds like a more expensive synth

Came here to hear the Deco. Stayed around for an excellent track! Enjoyed that 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Great song at the end...
It's rare to get an actual full on song demonstrating the effect - props for the amount of work that went into this. Great demo.
The Strymon Deco is my go-to pedal for chorus on my analog synthesizers. It's juicy.
The demo was unexpectedly good for a review video

So awesome!! The vocals sounds amazing.
I came back just for the song... so fresh !-)
Great video. I really enjoyed the song, and I want the pedal even more now.
That song really has the sound of the 80s. Good job.
All of this was awesome. Great job man.
amazing video. Def getting this. Thanks mayng!
Great demo. Also, appreciate a fellow RE-20 user.
Just ordered a Deco. I've been diving back into recording here at my home studio and this looks like a real nice bit to have. Great song!! : )
Funtastic song. Wish it was on spotify mate 🖖
I'm sending guitars, basses, synths, drum machines and vocals trough the Deco and sounds great.
It truly makes everything sound better
Lovely interesting presentation. Great song.
The best Deco review!
Love your music productions.
Great song!!!!
I'd love to get a breakdown of how you used the deca on each stem within your track. Just to get a feel for where and how you applied.
could you please do an in depth video about the Deco and its use for vocals. I'd be forever greatful
A Flock of Seagulls called. They want their hair gel back.
They've no need of hair gel any more!
That music vid was on fleek
3:40 Reminds me of I Feel It Coming (DP/TW).
That song made me sad... and also I need to slap my Deco onto everything...
Tycho uses this on synths.
Nice
80 x wind blew! good song
Deco is greg secret weapon in strymon catalogue

I did but in most cases I just used the Deco straight up
Great demo!

hi there, thanks for the video, what do you think of the fairfield shallow water compared to this?
Top song

Did it work applied on a final mix? 😁

Lol, what just happened? Do I have to buy a deco now? Of course there’s no used ones on reverb, probably due to this video...
HI thnx for this demo - do you know: if i put a complete mix thru the Deco, will the exact stereo image be preserved?
My guess is, no..
TIGHT DRUMMING
What is the master keyboard?
I’m using the Roland JX-8P to control the Prophet and the OB-6
@@StephenLearson Do you rate the JX8P/10 highly? A lot of people are very sniffy and dismissive of them.
Was audio mixed and mastered by you only?
Rattling Snakes Music yes
I dont know man. If you listen in stereo the FX is pretty nice but what happens in Mono? not very impressive:)
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. It means the world
@@StephenLearson Its not really mono compatible at least in your video and thats not a good thing for a stereo effect. Take it or leave it.
@@althewicked there's always one lol
