That's not exactly how things work. If Fahnbulleh had a good start, his speed endurance would run out quicker meaning that his finish would be a lot slower. He's only human. He can't just finish the same way all the time even if he has a 60m PB of 6.4. Depending on how good or how bad his start is, that could lead to a slower time.

I agree. And if every race was 210 meters Fanbulleh would probably win, because his "linear speed" always pulls him back to the front right at the 200 meter mark, so if the races were 210 he'd always win. I wonder if Fanbulleh has ever competed in a 300M race?

It rewards the over all best athletes and he's already shown good results in both the high jump and the long jump, 100m, 200m, and 400m. His twin brother was a very good high school pole vaulter. Boling is not going to be world class in the throwing events, the hurdles or the 1500m but very few decathletes are.

Actually I'm not aware of his results in HJ. My concern is that although his brother may have talent for PV it doesn't mean he has that too. There are decathlonist who rely on sprint related events but without throwing record we can only assume his performance. Very optimistic raw calculation considering just below his PBs and average results for the rest he could score 8500+. But also need to consider that as you train for field events you lose what you had in sprints.

@@tamasbrenyo1348 I agree that it is not a sure thing but since he will not be a World Beater in the sprints and he has shown he can do the long jump and the high jump in competition, I think he has a shot. His unknowns are the hurdles, 1500 meter and the throwing events. I know he is not necessarily going to be good in the pole vault just because his brother was but it is possible he has a pretty good familiarity with the event.
"High Jump: Matthew used to practice High jump as well, but seems to have discontinued it after 2016. He has a personal best of 2 meters in High jump." This would earn him close to 900 points. He'd need to pole vault about 16' to get 900 points. Here's how to get 900 points in each event by reaching the marks shown:
      Event 900 pts
      100m 10.83s
      Long jump 7.36m

For me still the field events are the ones which make me sceptical as they require more and different kind of muscle mass and movements. Actually a world 3. from my country Zsivoczky was a 220+ high jumper as youth, but as progressed in decathlon he couldn't get close to that mark any more. Anyway we'll see what Matthew decides to do, I believe if he stays with 100-200 or LJ he could be a regular world semi-/finalist which is still dope, if he tried decathlon I could tell more about that too:)
