- This is a classic Scottish piece written by Robert Burns. It was performed by Ed Miller and E.J. Jones (on pipes) at the Tartan Day Celebration at the Kennedy Center last April.
AWESOME tears in eyes. best song poem ever written
me too can't even sing along for choking up.
One of my favorite Scottish singers, the national anthem of Scotland
fantastic, I love this, a Mans a Man for all that! I love this! Love, Yolanda from Hungary, the land of Freedom, 1956!
A genuine singing of this wonderful song and Ed Miller lets us know how important this song is for humankind.
I have been blessed to see Ed (along with Rich, along with Brian) two times, and am very grateful for those evenings. Wherever a great song can be found, Ed will take it and make it even better. God bless you Ed.
An eternal song representing beautifully an eternal struggle
Powerfully sung and played
This is the BEST version I’ve heard o this classic
That was a beautiful song.
A great rendition. Thanks for sharing
A great song and a fine performance - I decided to watched the Scottish Paliament opening on the strength of his statement that the whole of parliament stood up and joined in the last verse. Disappointingly they all remained seated.
They did join in though!
Lovely!
very strong version
Beautiful version by Ed, but he never sings a bad version of anything.
👋💓
Wondery❤❤❤❤❤❤
So mote it be...
Daily we sink deeper into oligarchy and despotism here in the USA. I guess the struggle for justice never ends.
Equality and liberty are great virtues. Ironically people look to the government for answers that best come from themselves and their own communities. All that states can do is appoint someone whose role by its very existence diminishes what equality stands for and, through a convoluted system of laws and taxes, takes away more direct means of solving problems and leaves people financially disadvantaged, thus creating a vicious cycle. The corruption that is created is systemic when accountability is disjointed from power. Once there's enough power over people, then people can't peacefully dissent from authoritarianism. For all the noble sentiment, democracy is a tool for the corrupt to create the illusion of choice and manufacture consent where it does not exist. It's a long dark road of crushing liberty and prosperity when people can be convinced to vote against their own interests and treat their neighbors as opposition.
Liberated people have to be very cool. Otherwise, in a society which doesn't believe in equality and cannot possibly practice it, they would be considered extremely subversive - Alan Watts
Well hopefully Scotland is going too Revolt , and Gain its Independence 🏴
Great song - not the best rendition but not a better song.
Just sing the fuckin' thing for Christ sake.
You came here for his singing and he did? are you daft lad?
"the common man.." i don't think that is the accurate meaning
