My thoughts after watching this brilliant series as well!
I feel the same way about Shawn hatosy I think he was fantastic in southland ( but so was every actor/character.having him play pope really showed people how talented he is! No one but him could’ve played pope knowing now that it was a lot of the same writers from both shows and people from southland makes sense and makes you wonder if the character was written with him in mind.also no one pointed out but the final scenes of jay killing the girl’s how he reacted to it and him just sitting there by the pool lost in his own thought of what happened shows he was pope just a stronger version of the character was brilliant

@@rimshot560 No not a series. You're right, there's not enough left for a sequel series. (Maybe prequel). But maybe a two hour, well shot movie: It's been four years. Deran and Adrian have reconnected and live on the beach not far from Ren and Nick (who is quickly growing up to look just like his father). Deran goes and checks on Ren to help her take care of her son only to find her depressed and lonely, even one day finding her getting high again like she used to. Deran confesses to Adrian (who can tell Deran isn't happy lately) that there can't be a happily ever after while J still lives, not for him or for Ren. At the climax, it could have J oddly accepting death, giving Deran a confession that he accomplished everything he ever wanted, but it didn't feel like it. "I got everything I wanted, but nothing that I deserved". Deran stumbles upon a secret door leading to a large safe filled with the brothers' cash. The end

I feel like this was a proper ending. J “got what he wanted and not what he deserved” yet was still alone and unhappy. Pope got to die having some peace knowing that he finally saved J in a way he never could save Julia. Craig’s death was so sad, but he was able to save Deran in the process. Lastly, I hope that Deran is going to Indonesia to find Adrian, but when he said that he will do everything he can for Nick, it’s like he’s trying to end the cycle of abuse that started with Smurf and continued with the boys treating J like garbage.

How much money do you think j took and my question is where is he where did he go with all that money 🤑💰 and the last surviving uncle he's got no money no brothers how is he going to get to his nephew and if he does at least got at least some money stashed away depends on how much what is he going to do for a living.
Deran wouldn't make it out the country.
Also will he spending the rest of his life building up a business like a bar business that can make $22k or $30k a month and if so where is he going to get the fund's I personally think there's plenty of opportunities in Indonesia bars he could easily get a job as a bartender plus he's going to go back to business as usual do some jobs here and there till he gets a legitimate business and Frenchise it later on till he is a legitimate squeaky clean businessman
Guys... J ended up in some tropical paradise. That's a location his dead uncle's wife moved. Could it be the same area? Could the surviving brother find J? What WAS in that drink left for J at the end? 🤣
Amazing show. I watched all six seasons and loved it all. It will always be one of my favorites. Sad to see it end.
Ending was horrendous /since when does a murderer,traitor and a snitch get away with 5 million ,craig dies ,pope blames himself /the ending was abysmal / the whole cast should.go into protective custody &poor penny /thumbs down and I wanted some peace ,this just blew it up 🎉

I was so invested in this show. At first I couldn't understand why Jay would betray his uncles, but it was revenge for his mother. Was wrong, but I get it. Definitely waa served cold. Pope was my favorite and I understood him. Out of all of them he cared the most and was the most loyal. Talk about a tortured soul.

They really did AMAZING with Pope's character! He was so disturbing in the beginning and by the end, even after ALL the terrible things he had done you really feel for him! You want him to be happy but you also know that can never happen, it's truly heartbreaking!
Complete Masterpiece. This show is a full slice in my life. I started this show while in the hospital coming out a 3 month coma and fell in love it's truly apart of my life and I'm sad it's over. Thanks for the wonderful experience and entertainment
Crazy I was scared of Pope at the start but he became my favorite over time
I'm going to miss this show so much The Cody brothers well truly be missed. I'm so in tears Darren lost his brother's I grew to love Pope I cried Craig and Pope died. Jay should of been left to drown in the pool.... he betrayed the only ones that loved him.❤❤

Everything has a beginning And an Ending... the best of the best shows in their inception , have this inevitable process ahead of them.. no show will go on forever..thats just the way it is.. if they have a great ,quality run and go out with a bang, thats all one could ask

I was never an Ellen Barkin fan-- but I decided (6 years ago) to give this show a try anyway and I'm really glad I did. The acting was absolutely amazing! Everyone (with no exceptions) was superb 👏 But Jake Weary was above and beyond. I hope this show wins well- deserved awards!

It was definitely not the best series finale just okay, was a bit all over and to short of a finale.
No was the worst this last season was a disaster with non sense plot.
I'm just bringing myself to watch the final episode 😢😢😢. This was one of the best shows I have ever watched. So well directed it was amazing watching these actors over six years. 😍
From the first episode of Season 1 to the series final episode I've always considered the intense story lines of the Cody family to be Shakespearean in tone. Bravo to everyone connected with Animal Kingdom, which I am genuinely sad to say farewell to. A television masterpiece.
Absolutely loved this show. I binged watched seasons 2 & 3 then watched the rest live. Smurf was something else! It’s like she was jealous of Julia once Julia became a teenager. Smurf always seemed to be setting her up for a fall. And ever since Deran’s dad told him not to trust J a few episodes back, I started being suspicious of him, too. I hate that Penny was collateral damage. J could have just walked away from her instead of doing what he did to her. Poor Renn and Nick. I hope she can stay on the right path there in Thailand (but I doubt it). I think Pope dying there at the edge of the pool was poetic and full circle with his confession. He seemed just…weary towards the end. He’d been carrying so much family baggage. I think he finally found peace in his last few weeks in jail and in his last few moments. That damn Smurf ruined every life she touched, but I loved to see her in action. I’m gonna miss this show! Thanks cast and crew!! ❤
spot on about smurf ruining all she touched.. those scenes of jay just going wild and venting at anything that was of smurf and pope basically doing the very same thing with the gasoline, just wanting to burn to ashes Anything that she had touched...so sad..one persons influence creating a ripple that ruined everyone around her
penny had to die, cuz if she told anybody then he might be caught before he left the country and could have ended up in jail with nothing, instead of being safe out of the country with 5.4m dollars to retire with. he couldnt take that chance with a loose end that knew where he was going and what he was involved with
Smurf was the poster child for the worst narcissistic psychopath hedonist mother ever!
Smurf was absolutely jealous of Julia. All the boys' eyes were on her and she couldn't stand that. Ever since that scene with Baz in the pool and Pope watching from the window, she was trying to punish her and get rid of her.
Great review, I think Renn will be okay with baby nick, drugs are not legal there and even weed is jail time.

I just watched the final episode last night. Interesting seeing J come full-circle to when he whispered in Smurf's ear when she was sleeping, "I'm going to take it all" come to fruition. I've enjoyed this series a lot. Good acting, characters, and entertaining story line and with a lot of psychological elements too.

Sad to see this show end, but a well-deserved and heartfelt THANK YOU for taking us (me) along for the 7-year ride (unfortunately, Covid caused a production lull in 2020). J was always my fav, but I wish the ending had the CODY BROOD finding the TRUE PEACE that had always eluded them. Kudos and props to the entire cast and to the writers who put pen to paper. And what a cool segue; in having Pope steal that car from the man portrayed by their Real-Life stunt coordinator? And, as well, setting the house on fire with that lighter he took from the bar (when he was a kid). Will definitely miss this EPIC SHOW, but I (we) get to keep the memories that we made along the way. MAHALO! :)
Good catches on the stunt coordinator and lighter. I thought they held the camera on him a little longer than necessary for "just" a random hijackee!

Outstanding series, the characters were amazing. It’s a sad time seeing all the great series come to an end- Last Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Ozark, Call Saul, TWD & Van Helsing. I will miss them all.

I'm so sad that the series is over. This episode was definitely a tearjerker. I'm going to miss seeing the four of them every week 😢 I'll also miss the cast that played younger Smurf, Pope, Baz, Julia, Deran, and Craig. They were so good! Especially the guy that played younger Pope. He had all of the mannerisms down of Shawn playing Pope. I'm so sad this series is over. I can't wait to see what everyone will star in next!

The finale delivered. Tear jerker. I watched from day one. I missed Ellen, but the background story filled in a lot. This show was "Point Break" × 4. It's hard getting used to the accents from Finn and Ben. Jay was a very bad boy. Who was the young Andrew? He looks just like Shawn and did a great job in the flashbacks. Big shoes to fill. The new Smurf delivered too!! She's got the mannerisms DOWN. I missed seasons 4 and 5. Gonna have to rent them.

One of the best shows ever, never lost its touch even when killing off main characters with such a coherent story from start to finish you can tell a lot of work was put into this story and I will continue to rewatch now that it’s over. One of the best full series that was never dull and had a satisfying ending. I’d like to imagine Deran goes to raise Nick and doesn’t let hate for J rule his life as he saw how destructive the path they were on was. But man what a show!

Very satisfactory ending. Of course that being said by a heartbroken fan from the very start. I hate that it is ending, but very happy how it ended. Superb writing with a phenomenal cast. My Sunday evenings will never be the same.

Fire finale
I've been watching Television shows for a long time, and I can say without hesitation that you guys knocked it out of the park this season. The way that you were able to seamlessly intertwine the story of the family's beginnings with the present day was masterful, and the acting was top notch all around. The final episode was the best of any long running show, drama or sitcom bar none.....Outstanding work

Just watched the last episode. Even though I knew what J’s end game was, I was surprised that he actually did it. It was so good. Still trying to wrap my head around it.

Every actor of the cast was amazing to watch
I watched all six seasons of this show as they aired. Thats SIX YEARS!!! And I was NEVER disappointed!!!! There were characters here n there I didn't like, or character decisions i didnt agree with sometimes, but overall i loved this entire ride!!! Too many great performances to list. I dont see the "flashback" cast mentioned enough. They had to learn and apply established nuances to already existing characters, and no one came off as a corny imitation of their older selves. Particularly Young Pope and Young Smurf. Fantastic show man. Im gonna miss it

Explosive all the way thru!!! Each character was special in they own way. They definitely knew how to hold a fanclub.lol. The ending was actually superb. Anymore would have been over the top. It was proper for the story. What a family!!! Rock on crew. Awesome job. Loved it all. Sad it's over but yall killed it ❣️

Animal Kingdom was originally a movie?
So many people have become attached to these characters, and the men that play them have clearly become attached to each other. Emotional, yet satisfying finish. Thank you 🙏🏻
My favorite is the older Smurf.
One of my favorite shows that I never expected to watch…caught the pilot episode on a flight several years ago and was hooked ever since. Such a superb cast, they deserve so much more recognition than they’ve received for their performances, not enough ppl knew about this show, but every single person I introduced to it became instant fans. I wish all of these fine actors continued success and look forward to watching them in their future roles and hope they gain all the praise and accolades they so well deserve.
I just finished watching Animal Kingdom for the second time! What a story!!! I had to re-watch season 2 again to make two and two added up for season 5-6. I totally hated the way it ended. Got too invested in the Cody's survival!!
I would love to see a spin off with Deran finding Renn and Nick:, reunion with Adrain, and catching up with J.
The pool scene was outstanding
One Hell of a great show. Just wish it continued for eight seasons instead of six. The actors were all great pope did a great job. The writers should get a triple raise. They wrote a amazing script. Thank you.The show will live on for a lifetime.
Just watched the whole Animal Kingdom from season 1-6, it is a great show
I had never heard of this show and was given the recommendation to watch it. Best recommendation EVER! Love it! All the actors are outstanding, especially Ellen Barkin, Finn Cole, Shawn Hatosy and young Smurf. I'm gonna miss all my Cody boys, especially J. His scene where he's bawling over having killed his gf was heart wrenching. His revenge was bittersweet.
Just finished watching the final episode. It's amazing what anger does to a person. Watching J evolve from episode one to this episode was intense. He became what he loathed most about Smurf. She was a kitten compared to him. And the brother's had more compassion and empathy than he did. He can spend all that money completely alone, miserable and empty. What an emotional and crazy journey.
I’ve been hooked since day one and I have to say I loved the guys. Smurf was a horrible mother but made some strong boys. 🥂🥰
Love love love this show. It's surreal that this is the end of Animal Kingdom. Tears were definitely a factor in this Season 6 finale. So sad for the ending. I've got 5 years on DVD so you know I'll be waiting for Season 6 to go to DVD & I will definitely be getting that one too.

I'm gonna miss it. The acting in this show, especially the finale, was award worthy imo. This was a very good show in a world where good shows are almost impossible to find. Definitely going to miss Animal Kingdom.
Damn I remember all those years ago when trailers for Season 1 were airing on TV saying “oh that looks cool, I’ll check that out. I’ll record the pilot and see how I feel about it.” And now here we are 6 years later, what a ride! Thank you to everyone involved for bringing this story to life for me and all the fans, what a great end to a great show!

What a terrific cast and truly great actors every single one of them. I guess I was hoping at the first viewing of the final episode they would all survive and it was clear J was going to survive. I can assure you that Nick is happy and living in TX as Rhen said, he happens to be my grandson. Thank you Craig & Rhen for being so kind and loving to my family, I will always have a Cody to cuddle and he already has a motocycle at 2 :)

The Cody’s have been entertaining me for the past 6 years. I’m in this time the story has unraveled from the present to the past.
We have gotten to know each individual character as the years have gone by. The past years have effected there presents up until Smurf died.
Then the realised how she controlled so much of there life’s and choices.
They start to change there present selfs.
Pope is the one who suffered the most and his final scene show all his struggles and dies know he tried to set things right.
It was as sad finale but also a fitting one.
Well done.
You will be missed.
But at least we all can watch it again and again.

Animal Kingdom is the best show I have ever seen! I saw every episode and bought the season dvd's. I'm sad that it is over now. But that was a hell of an ending. These actors are some of the best actors I've ever seen! My mom and I are gonna miss this show very much!

Huge Thank you to everyone involved with putting this show on the air every week. My Sunday nights are going to be empty. I always watched each episode twice just to make sure I caught everything and because I love this show. Going to miss the Cody's. Really, one of my top 5 shows of all time. I'm in my 60's so that says a lot.
If you're reading this and you have the power to do so...please bring back J and Deran. Give them each their own show if you have to, but the reconciliation of these guys and their next chapters together would be an awesome show to watch! 💞
I have watched the finale 8 times. I cried every time. I was so broken hearted to see Pope die but was sad about Craig who in the end professed his true love for his girlfriend and mother of his son. I boo booed over that scene where the brothers hugged and cried. It's that they knew instinctively that it was over. J....wow he got the revenge he wanted for Julia. All the years he watched her suffering and no Cody came to her rescue. He turned out to be the ultimate criminal. I hope there is a mini series where Darin finds the love of his life in Indonesia and he sets off on a journey to recover the millions J stole from his brothers and avenge their deaths. Hummm...that's a good story that could keep on giving. I've been a fan since the beginning. What a great cast. The writers were awesome. I enjoyed it so much and will miss you guys. Much ❤️ 😍.
