Pope is such a good actor he actually scares me
Should see ben mendohlson in the movie
But to be honest, I feel the character's level of "scary" was exaggerated quite a bit! If anything, J is the one you should watch out for because he has all this anger and has been made to be cold by his circumstance and almost sociopath like that he just doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. That's scary!
@@luwamalem9537 really you think the character was exaggerated a bit!? This was based on a true story! The real smurf is Kath Pettingill & this was about her son's! This American show is a pussies version of Animal Kingdom! In reality these Australian brothers were bloody brutal! Look up Kath Pettingill & her son's Dennis Allen, Victor Pierce & Trevor Pettingill! They were responsible for the shooting of 2 20 year old police constables in the Walsh Street murders in Victoria

Yes I just finished all 5 seasons....He is an amazing actor...I am shocked the show nor Shawn (Pope) or Barkin (Smurf)...Hasn't received dozens of awards....Animal Kingdom is definitely one of my favorite shows of all time!😊

I realize this maybe a little premature but Animal Kingdom is without a doubt one of the best TV shows of all time. The writing and acting is intense, it draws you in leaving you wanting more and it's one of those show's were you root for the bad guys. So glad this show ended up on TNT and not one of the other big 4 as they would have cancelled it after the first season to make room for more of their stupid ass fluffy "reality" or singing/ dancing crap. Good to see Shawn/Pope in this light, laughing and cutting up, I was beginning to wonder if he was love me Pope in real life because he plays that part so well like he doesn't have to act so hard to make the character believable. GREAT SHOW and GREAT ACTING guys!!!!!!

Sorry its well done BUT The USA version of Aussie males? They dont look so Hollywood! Dennis Allen and Victor Pearce were not as slick. They were sharpies! Yankees dont even know what that is? Never mind portray them. Scottish and criminal. Just saying,
The show accedes it's source material (the australian movie) by miles.
It's the best show indeed. Everyone is just so good in playing their roles.

Well im a 46 year old guy. I have been watching since it came out with my 18yr old son. The show is great .Ellen Barkin is super intense

Jake Weary/Daren is probably my favorite character in the entire series. His arc to me is the most well defined, basically you have this guy who truly is a Mama's boy. A criminal. And someone who has historically tortured himself every single day just for being a way that he isn't sure if he can accept himself to be, especially given the macho world he finds himself trapped in. And yet, in spite of that his brother Craig KNOWS and even calls him out for it like "Come on man you're embarrassing yourself, we wouldn't care if you like guys but you have to stop this charade" and it was in that moment he finally began to accept who he was. Nowadays he's more than comfortable with it and like real people he's nicer as a result. You will never be happy until you can give yourself permission to be yourself and that involves accepting who you are.
This really resonated with me as well. Loved seeing his evolution.

The actor that plays the part of Pope - I really could not stand him (so great performance) until he started to go to church and was so touched by his heart. When he started to wish he could turn the clock back on what happened with Cath. I had tears for him - his performance was so strong and moving. Awesome ACTOR!!!! Asked my son to please tell you as you are so very talented!

Well, we're now several years down the line and I have to say that I still LOVE this series. Fantastic cast, acting, writing and stunts. So good to look back at this video and see 'The Cody Boys' chatting and having some fun. I know they're bad lads but I can't help but root for them... Looking forward to season 6! I'm old enough to be any one of their mothers but it's still nice to look. Especially when the view is so pleasing. All the action in the show is a nice perk too. Haven't caught season 5 yet, but after that I plan to watch the whole series again in (case I missed anything) and I'll leave it at that before I embarrass myself.
