Clutch vs torque converter which one is better for a built motor?
Custom built mini dirt bike.
That's how we learn 💪💪 I have a 212cc non hemi billet stage 4 and gearing was my issue 🫡 cool vídeo
Exactly thx bro appreciate it and sounds like a very fun and very fast build lol
Love your bike man, awesome video. Would love to see a breakdown of your build and how it started and your parts you selected. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man I greatly appreciate it and I will be doing a run through of the bike in an upcoming video once I start the motor swap 👍 stay tuned
WTF happened to yer hair? Looks like that rats live in!@@MiniMetalFab
New sub clutch works great on pavement cvt all day for dirt but a 9/60 set up on your cvt will add considerable more top end and help that cam stay in your power band
Definitely. Cvt is so much better for dirt. And idk about that gearing. Bc I ran a 10/50 with my 17” tall rear wheel and it would do like 56mph and now I run a 12/50 with the same wheel and it does 65 top speed. I feel like 9/60 would make it slower top end. Bc that’s shorter gearing…
@@MiniMetalFab food for thought
@@heathenprojects2639 I’m also running 420 chain so that makes a difference between the other size chain. I’ll probably give it a shot and see what happens
@MiniMetalFab did he try it out orrrr
Your mini bike is nice.I also have a custom mini dirt bike with a 212 on it.
Thx bro and that’s sweet love to hear it
@@MiniMetalFab keep up the great work.I will be watching.
@@samsgarage1716 thanks man I will. Currently working on my next videos right now! Stay tuned it’s going to be sweet!
Seen a couple other UA-camrs doing this, what app do you use for the speedometer and how do you get it to your display? Would love to record videos of me just riding for my self but having the speed on the screen would be really cool. Thanks
Get yourself a GoPro hero 10 or newer and download the GoPro Quik app once you film your video and upload it off the camera onto the app you can add stickers to the video and one is them is the speedometer that is tracked off the gps of the GoPro while it records! There are some videos on UA-cam on exactly how to do it but that's the concept
@@MiniMetalFab Thanks man! I actually forgot that you had to get a GoPro, thought it was some type of app you were using off the Apple Store or wtv phone you have. Thanks anyways though!
@@Hesham2008A no problem man safe riding!
Is that a modified pit bike frame? How does it handle compared to a traditional 14 or 19 inch fat tire mini bike?
Nope it's a frame from the 90's used to be a mini chopper with 2 back wheels and a back rest and small fat tires super high up handle bars and a speedometer and tack and it had 2 engines a fake one and a real 49cc 2 stroke. It was street legal! But I don't like choppers so I cut it all apart and rebuilt it into this with better more modern parts and a much faster motor. And it handles amazing! Cornering is so much better than any other mini bike I've ever ridden. And straight line it tracks straight as an arrow. Only downside I've noticed is the much narrower tires makes riding in loose terrain very difficult and washy. Like it drifts 24/7 on sand unless it's hard pack or I'm doing 40+mph lol
Hey did your bike come with that front suspension and wheels or did you custom add them?
Custom built it
What clutch and sprocket size would u recommend for street riding ?
@@matthewfojo4228 I would get one of the 14 tooth clutches off gopowersports.com and run a 60 tooth sprocket on the back with 35 chain. If u got 420 chain id run a 10 tooth clutch with a 42-46tooth sprocket on the back.
I have a go kart with a stage 2 with 22Lbs springs and a 26mm carb. I need a clutch should I buy the juggernaut torque converter or buy a bullet clutch
Do you mainly ride on the street or dirt and grass
@@MiniMetalFab Im in the same situation as him and i mostly ride street what would u recommend
@@wake2556 id recommend run a quality clutch with a somewhat big sprocket on the back wheel so you get good acceleration and top speed
I recommend looking into a titan clutch, bullet clutch is for racing only and will burn up quick if you use it for daily cruising
great vid
Thanks man appreciate it!
Nice video 💪💯
What is the point of a juggernaut
It creates a higher engagement rpm and has a longer duration so the belt can physically spin faster for longer and the engine engages at a higher rpm so you get a more aggressive launch and your more in the powerband of your engine
The most important point of the Juggernaut is the large gearing difference compared to the stock driver. The Juggernaut is advertised to have 2500 RPM engagement which is a nice side note. I have unmodified stock drivers that engage at 2700 RPM.
What has the most bottom end?
Definitely a torque converter unless you run a clutch with a super big sprocket on the back wheel but then you’ll have 0 top end if u do that. So I would recommend a torque converter and then if you still want more top speed get the juggernaut driver pulley like what I have 👍
Ik u got the rod and all that but how do you not blow ur engine
Lots of billet parts and a quality engine build 👍
Where can I get that clutch
We got it off Amazon for 30$
What oil do you run ??
10w-40 full synthetic motorcycle oil with zddp additive
Both are the same thing basically. A clutch has a shifter
Not on a mini bike. And not on a car either. No gears on a mini bike. All rpm! And no shifter or clutch levers on a mini bike either. Both types of drive trains use weights and rpm to engage the chain
Bro put a smaller sprocket on the back with that torque converter
I could. It would result in me not being able to wheelie or take the bike off road on hill climbs and stuff like that. Too much top speed not enough torque.
60mph with clutch downhill don't count vs cvt
@@hilariovilla3606 it doesn't really matter where it was bc both test were done on the exact same stretch of road up and back both times on both setups the only changing variable is the clutch and cvt. Yes on perfectly flat ground would be ideal but most riding isn't done on flat ground to begin with.
60 in a 25. Be careful I've seen cops use these videos against people in court
Thanks good to know!!!
“Video is edited for entertainment purposes only. No laws were actually violated in the making of this video”
Make the sprocket 45
I would if I just drove it on the street. But for sand dunes and trails you need the torque
Wow the city had kindergarteners do that stretch of road.
Your back tire says the hill climbs and goin in the mud was a lie it’s a street cruising bike lol
@@roadjokers6467 nah just worn out from the sand dunes and street riding. That's all we got around me. I actually have to drive to get to trails or a track
@@MiniMetalFab I was just messing around bro
Want to sell the clutch for twenty bucks
Not a torque converter……a torque converter is a fluid coupling that’s used with an automatic transmission .
Yes technically that's correct. These are just called torque converters. But it's the same things snow Mobil's have on their engines
@@MiniMetalFab yep.Constantly Variable Transmission….CVT. Used all over the place, side by sides, snowmobiles, etc..
@@jeffreyhill3960 yup exactly right I just call them torque converters bc most people who don't know the technical terms understand what I'm talking about.
They are torque a verters...can anyone read?
I’m new to your UA-cam channel only thing I have to say them are not motor’s they are engine’s motors are Electric… Engine’s are internal combustion…. Not motor’s my friend….,
Read motor theory to understand the meaning of motor
Dude down hill😂😂😂 that don't mean anything ....i can go 60-70 on a skateboard downhill no push so saying 66 "down hill" don't help much
You’ve definitely never went 60 or 70 miles an hour down a hill on a skateboard
@@handzgaming9281 LMFAO absolutely have we wasn't a bunch of snowflakes crying about everything when we was kids 🤣🤣 sorry your scared of everything
clutches suck IMO. Torque convertor gives you wheelies and you can rip huge hills in the woods!
