Croatia suffered because of being in the vein of "Diva" which won a year prior

I prefer Lithuania. It was pure folk sass.

Croatia was the best, while the others are too weak, and if only Sweden representative sang that song in Swedish version again(like what she.did in melodifestivalen 1999), it would be just better. But in overall, Croatia was my winner!

Am I the only one who believes Cyprus song was great? Was flabbergasted she only received 2 points!
Yeah it was. She was even a favorite before the contest, I seriously dont understand the result
Probably a weak vocal performance with Iceland on one side and Sweden on the other.
Croatia finished 4th that night, but some time later was announced that 1/3 of their votes are subtracted as a penalty, coz at the playback a man's voice can easily be heared, yet there is no man on stage singing! I don't know what happened with that later on, but it's obvious that they broke the rules.

While I feel this was a weak year compared to all the other 90's contests, my favorites were Iceland, Croatia, Ireland, Slovenia, France, and Lithuania.

A really good ESC-year in which the Netherlands should have won the contest! Marlayne is gorgeous and the song is really, really good too.
Estland's "Diamond of Night" was m'n favoriet, maar Marlayne was ook super
OMG, 1999 was my absolute nr.1 edition of the ESC. I know every song and I still sing them. Like a story all songs passed us by. With "Strazdas" as a vocal warming up, through "Diamond of Night" as being the last song from the latest millennium. ♥
I like this edition too, but of the older editions nothing beats 1983 with 1987 as a close second.
My favorites were Estonia, Lithuania, Belgium, Croatia and Iceland. Mixed up feelings with Cyprus - I do like this song, but I'm not sure about vocals.

Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Belgium - are the ones that are memorable to me after listening to recap once. I guess they’re my top 10 :)
And you know what! The true winner is United Kingdom cause it is the only one song which is still palying on our radio ocasionally even at 2012. :D

Austria and Norway were my faves.
My favorites were Lithuania, Iceland, Belgium, Ireland, Croatia, and France. I prefer the Slovenian version of her song and wish they sung that instead.

I think Iceland was the best song. Even today it could succed at the contest. And then there's Croatia and Bosnia, great both of them.

1-st Year Without Live Orcestra & this is bad thing!
1999 fue el año de la muerte de Eurovisión por la desaparición de la orquesta en vivo y por la libertad de idioma (libertad, más bien, de cantar en inglés). Como dijo Johnny Logan, "se convirtió en una especie de karaoke barato". Una pena. No hay más que ver a la ganadora.
Pues no hay más que ver el interés que despierta Eurovisión ahora y compararlo con aquella época, en la que confesar que lo veías era exponerte al bullying.

Norway had probably the most 90s entry in the ESC that year, the same production team that did a lot of boybands' songs

The contest was at an all time low point in 1999
By far one of the worst editions winner. Most songs were horrible. Croatia should have won by far. Germany, Bosnia and Lithuania had decent songs too. One of the worst winners in the history of esc
Norway and Bosnia were by far the worst. Any of the other songs could've won it! What a year!

Awful
Lithuania stood out from them all and the only pure voice I hear, which came from nature itself. For those who listen to trashy pop songs like most of these, listen - the reason Lithuania sounds horrible to you is because the song is beyond your understanding.
(How can people like CROATIA? Nothing against Croatian people but that song is disgusting)
