Honestly.. before the semi finals, there were some years where it became very hard to win, if you weren't an eastern european (+russian) country.. I felt, at the time, that was the reason. I dont mean to offend anyone! But I never felt this song really fit with other years winners 😬 (please dont kill me!! 😆😊😁)
Impossible to understand how Finland's very catchy entry with a very professional singer finished so low, especially in this sea of mediocrity. Robbed (once again)!!

Absolutely loved Sweden that year. Such incredible energy, huge enthusiasm, so much fun, and just huge craziness! A very memorable performance, even though a few times one of them shouted too much over the others. Croatia was amazing that year too. I am probably one of very few that really didn’t like Malta’s song.

Just my 2 cents: I wouldn't go as far as calling it great, but it was decent. Half of these songs were really bad, so a decent song coming last in this edition is a big disappointment.
You know looking back now, I must say.. I also think it's one of the better ones. I always wondered how it came in last!(??) I was okay with it not being in even top 5 or 10. But last?? Seeing it now, it just makes even less sense to me.. I really feel there are worse songs! 😂 Personally this is one of the years, where I didn't agree with the winner, even though, now, I also feel that the winner was one of the better songs after all 😆 But the music taste of the time will influnece the voting, of course! That must be it. And I think denmsrk often have non prioritized the big fancy glitter/dance show on stage. I think that might be a reason too. And as I recall she was very late in the night, and this was before the semifinale thing, so there were sooooo many countries! I do remember this Eurovision being so loong (if I remember that correctly, it could have been factors too?)

@dragana3203 Finally, someone appreciates the F.Y.R Macedonia's entry. It was my 12 points of the 2002 'Eurovision Song Contest' (unfortunately not the competition's strongest year). I'm so glad Karolina Gočeva got to represent her home nation again in 2007. 'Mojot svet' (Мојот свет) is in my top twenty 'Eurovision' songs of all time. Love the languages of the Balkans (Macedonian included).🦋
the strongest songs for me, in order of appearance, were UK, Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark and France (they were robbed both in 2001 and 2002). The cutest song which makes me smile is Lithuania... and I loved the up-tempo song from Bosnia.

That year was very good, good songs, variety of genres (there was a typical country song (Germany), hard rock (Finland), acapella (Latvia), orient (Bosnia), singing in italian (Romania - my favourite), all great songs, remember?). That is how I imagine the ESC should be.
