    I used to think mommytard was so amazing for putting up with your crazy. Putting up with your career, and moving all the time, and holding your family together. Not to mention your huge personality and crazy ideas. Now that I realize for years she was also putting up with your alcoholism, Collette is a SAINT!!!!
    You are truly the luckiest man on earth Shay Carl.

      In his very early vlogs he was different than he is now. There is a video somewhere where he actually urinates on camera. Not the same Shay you see today.

      I stopped watching Shaytards and Shay shortly after he got healthy, so don't know much about who he is today. All I really know is the big Shay and I couldn't tell he had a drinking problem at all back then.

      Look where alcohol has landed him today. Not in a good place, being exposed for dming a cam girl for all of the wrong reasons in my opinion and has been dealing with alcoholism for 3 months again. My prayers go out to him and his family but he's now only revealed this after he's been exposed, that's my issue with this issue it's the fact that he had to be exposed for him to say to his loyal viewers somethings wrong. Also I feel deeply sorry for his wife and kids like what's going to happen with the kids and school gavin and avia are now at that age where social media plays a big part in their school life so what will happen with them will they get support from their fellow school students or be made a laughing stock of because of their father's drunken 'mistakes'. Will this issue ever be forgot?

    Someone should interview Colette if she's willing to tell her side of the story. It's amazing to think of Shay as a drinker. It's awesome that he would come out with this to help others. I feel like Colette could help so many wives with her knowledge.

    Wow...this was great. I must be naive because I had NO clue Shay used to be a drinker. I automatically assumed that he never had a sip of alcohol in his life just because he's Mormon. Great interview.

      I suspected he wasn't a goody two shoes. l remember he used to always make jokes about smoking pot.. and he had a skateboard with a potleaf on it. in those early vlogs he was going to parties all the time.. it was a shock to hear he was drinking everyday tho.

    • @queenfan2011
      @queenfan2011 8 років тому +4

      I also thought that too, since everyone always said in the comments on the shaytards that Mormons can't drink. But thinking about it, his sister Carlies ex husband(assuming he was/is a Mormon) was an alcoholic as well.

    • @arbeitmachtfries
      @arbeitmachtfries 7 років тому +3

      mdmelnoelle I was raised Mormon and I ended up addicted to heroin. I'm not active in my church but I still hold some of the same beliefs. You'd be surprised how many mormons are addicts/alcoholics. So so many. It breaks my heart.

    My dad was an alcoholic and weighed around 400lbs. When Shay was saying he googled how to get drunk on less calories, it reminded me of when my dad went on the Vodka diet because it was less calories. lol. Well, Medical Marijuana became legal in AZ and he basically swapped alcohol for Weed and lost 200lbs! He's looks and feels so much better. I know not everyone is for medical marijuana but It really helped my dad. He's a new person.

I think what he's done is quite frankly disgusting and my opinion on him has changed but I try not to judge people on things that don't concern me. I was here for his youtube content, not the things he does behind closed doors. Good luck with your close minded sheep mentality

    I think it's very real to talk about not only the bad aspects of alcoholism, but also the "positive" feelings that alcohol gave you that drove you to drink. Sometimes it is difficult for non-addicts to understand addiction. I am also glad that you share the experience that you do not have allow an addiction to completely destroy your life before you find a reason to make the decision to get better. God and family are so important in recovery. As someone who grew up watching you both, it is so important to see you guys being human beings that I can relate to and admire--instead of just characters to fangirl over. I love you both!

    Be careful advertising going cold turkey in case of alcohol abuse. Withdrawals caused by alcohol could actually kill you. Alcohol is one of the few drugs that can cause death by going cold turkey. You really need to visit a specialist when quitting. Great conversation! loved it.

      Alcoholism is a disease. No one chooses to be sick. Thank God he realized he had a problem and is wise enough to give it up totally. “ one drink is too many, a thousand is never enough.” My husband passed away in his forties from his alcoholism. Despite rehab, he could not or would not accept it. He missed his daughters’ weddings, never even saw his grandchildren and, quite frankly, wore us all out worrying about him. To anyone who is an alcoholic and is reading this, stay strong and don’t let anyone or anything cause you to turn to drink again. This disease can be devastating to yourself and everyone who loves you. It often leads to an early death and terrible pain for your loved ones. God bless and take care.

      Nah nah... There was not this much hate on UA-cam years before. Besides what's happening with Shay. Now people is used to critic and review people lives like they were products on amazon. Really shitty.

    Super interesting to learn about people you look up to and understand and appreciate their struggles. We all deal with life different and I find it so cool that shay, a family man who is Mormon and so successful can really open up and talk about his struggles in life! Makes me look up to you as a father figure more and more. Thanks for giving me hope shay and Michael, thanks for giving me that extra little drive to go sober

    Great video. The Shaytard vlogs were my introduction to vlogs. I appreciate Shay's candor on this topic, especially given the public perception of the LDS culture. It does not surprise me that Collette stayed with him. I wish Shay and Collette strength in their lives, dealing with addiction. I am even more proud to show their family's videos to my daughter. Life is life, and lived is better than the alternative.

    ugh I'm SO proud of shay for coming out w/ all of these things about his alcholism because I'm a real shaytards fan that has been faithfuly watching for over six years I watched both of the podcasts where he talked about it and this was just as azmazing as those I'm glad he came out with it now now because if he had came out with it when i was 10 I would not have understood it at all but as a 16 year old I'm like so amazed with him and the courage that he has and I hope to find a companion that gives me as much support as Colette gives Shay

    This video gave me such a weird feeling (in a good way) .. I have been watching Shay's daily vlogs for so long, from around the time that Emmie was still a toddler. I remember that Shay to me was the better version of my own father, who had been an alcoholic for the past ten years of my life (I'm 20, he quit earlier this year) I also remember wishing my dad could be more like Shay. During this period of alcoholism I lost almost all the respect I had towards my father and up until this day I struggle to rebuild our bond, even though I never left the house and we still are living together as a family with my mom and sister.
    So to watch this video and hearing Shay talk about his own struggles with alcoholism, it means a lot to me and makes me want to try harder to rebuild the relationship with my father. Everyone has their problems, even the people that seem perfect in your eyes. And that's okay. Thank you, Michael Buckley and Shay.

    This is definitely becoming my favorite series on youtube. The interviews seem very genuine. And you made such a good point about earlier youtubers. It wasn't about making money back that and your love for each other came from a totally different place, not actually from being fame hungry. Obviously not ALL youtubers are like that now, but I think a lot of us can see through that. Please continue these!!

    c) sharing this with all of us
    i love you guys endlessly. thank you so much for always being there almost 7 years plus and inspiring and helping without maybe even knowing it. you helped shaping me into who i am today. thank you so much for that and being so wonderful and amazing and honest as you are. michael you always made me laugh and think and also introduced me to shay and shay u introduced me to your family and the kinda marriage and family i wanna have so thank you for being there, always. and in case you wanna be off the web some day, you'll be more than welcome to do so as u gave us so much help and happiness and shared so much for all these years and u deserve nothing but the best. thank you!
    ohhh and internet friends are the best. i met my first 9 years ago.. and then basically every year after i met a new one/the same one and we would visit each othrt in the different countries we're from and it's always been a blessing and a blast.. friends in general are a true blessing but something like this,clicking with someone from another part of the world and actually staying friends for years thats been and years to come is sth amazing u dont get every often. so its a true blessing indeed😊💖 so grateful for everything

    When Shay talks about people not even believing in God in CA, and being like "oh cute do you believe in santa, too?" I feel like that was more Kassem than anyone else. That's TOTALLY Kassem. There are TONS of christians in Cali...esp with the huge latino community, tons of catholic christians, too.
