I picked up a 2003 MG ZTT 190, 2 1/2 years ago in Estonia of all places (I spend half my time there so wanted a cheap run around), for 1800 euros with 195KM (120K miles) on the clock. I had to spend about 1000 euros on it but I absolutely love it, great fun to drive. Not sure where you the 14 mpg from because mine averages 10 litres/100 Km (28 mpg) and we live in the city.
I think fixing the Engine light issue would improve the MPG and performance. Lovely Car, I have the 75-version manual. Love it. Would love to have a MG ZT-T to. The automatic is best paired with the diesel. And the V6 with manual gearbox.
The 190 manual version far more economical and quicker. 35mpg as opposed to 23 for the auto. We've had ours since 2007 still going strong and ours is that blue purple flip colour called Twilight. Best colour on the planet. I would have every car I'm ever going to own in that colour 😅 Great cars just sadly underfunded at the time. The ZT's are creeping up in value as they are rare due to the fact the 2nd and 3rd and 4th owners seemed to believe in lots of deferred maintenance compared to the older 75 owners ! Geoff the ZTT is much rarer than you mentioned Rover 75 211,175 MG ZT 27,149 Only a fraction of the ZT figures were ZTT's so they are now ultra rare ⚠️
Very nearly bought one on a weekend away in Blackpool, the salesman told me not to give it the beans..that and the look of contempt from my wife put me off...
I’d rather have it in the 1.8Turbo which is lighter with the same BHP and can be tuned and is more economical and fun to drive and cheaper to maintain that’s if you can’t afford the V8, the Tahiti Blue Pearlescent is an awesome colour I’ve a Rover 25Gti with it.
It's not that it has only 180 hp; 75/ZT's all seem to highly underperform related to their HP. ZT-T 190 claims a 0-100 in 7.5-8.3s, and in real tests hit 9.2 seconds. When dragraced against the A4 B6 1.8T (190hp) and Mazda 6 Sport (166hp), it lost against both, especially sub-100 kph. Even lost the 0-100 sprint by over half a second to the 160hp 75 1.8T. The 75 2.0 does 0-100 in 11.8 seconds, over 2 seconds slower than the equivalent Lexus IS 200 - it performs more like a 115-125hp motor.
Great comment Jan, and eye opening. Having owned this car for a bit, I think you buy it for the novelty of the V6 engine, and nothing else. I wouldn't touch another one again.
Yes I wrestled with myself about buying it back and raffling it off again but I’ve got other cars to focus on! It’s a good car, lots of recent work done including all the belts, water pump and thermostat.
Good god guys get over it... this tit for tat which is faster sub 0-100 is blah blah blah, it all gets very boring hey. Just enjoy the cars whatever you drive, the MG is fine at the end of the day. How long are we to have the freedom of using petrol engined cars in this country anyway...
Lovely looking ZTT, makes a lovely noise and the perfect colour for one as well.

god I had one of them and loved it
My dad had one when I was born. He said he loved it except, in Queensland Australia, where I live, its so hard to get parts for them
