The Equinox always gets a bad wrap, but honestly, my parents have owned one for more than 10 years (2014 model) and have had zero problems. It's been a great vehicle for them.
How much do they drive? Always look to resale values to see how reliable and in demand a used vehicle is. Unfortunately Equinox resale values continue to underperform which points to lower then average reliability. A turbo 1.5L in the new Equinox will likely be taxed hard and again be subpar reliability. Besides that Chevy has been making some nice looking and well designed vehicles lately.
The Equinox will probably get a version of the new Plug in hybrid (PHEV) Equinox offered China. With a hybrid powertrain the Equinox would compete with the best!
Gm is knocking it out of the park with their SUVs- huge improvement. We bought a CRV Hybrid in May- had this been out then, we would have seriously considered it.
All I know is that the two-tone white roof trend needs to blow up! Black roofs are all well and good, but here in Texas summer heat, that white roof reduces cabin temps and looks cool to boot!
We love our 2022 Equniox LT AWD for the money and value is great and the reliability from new to 67,000km has been great ! Only oil changes for maintenance. The new 2025 we had the pleasure of driving it as a service loaner while in getting our winter tires on. Chevrolet is raising the bar across all SUVs for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC ! They should not be overlooked. In fact they should be placed at the top of the list. Had 2022 RAV4 rental and it was lots of plastic.
Zach, I warned you that Andrea would not appreciate a vacuum cleaner for her birthday present. That flying stiletto heel that hit you in the eye is the payback.
Major kudos to Chevy. Very nice looking vehicle. Interior looks as nice as some premium brands. Sure would be nice with a hybrid so out of the running for me.
Back in 2018 we were looking for an inexpensive commuter car for our son who was going off to university in Calgary. After putting up with the “ price is the price” attitude at Toyota and Honda stores, and vowing to never own anything Korean (theta 2.4 thanks) we bought a 2018 Cruze. It’s still in my driveway. Believe it or not, it’s gone 183,000 km and has never had so much as a check engine light. I’ve had a few issues with the blind spot detection, rear camera and parking assist, but that’s it. Been a great car. I would not hesitate to buy a newer Chevy for the long haul.
Another solid vehicle by Chevrolet. My parents were looking for a new vehicle back in 2018 and did a ton of research on the various models available (compact crossover). They ended up with a new Equinox (first year of previous generation). Despite ranking in the bottom half of most comparison tests, I told her to ignore the reviewer ratings and focus more on what vehicle fits them the best (wants, needs, features, comfort, price, etc). It ended up coming down to a choice between the CRV and Equinox and they ended up with the Chevy simply because it still checked off more boxes and was about $3500 less expensive. They've had it almost 7 years now and haven't had any issues with it. They've been very happy with it. As you guys always say, check out the various vehicles and get the one that you like (suits your needs most). It may not always jive with the ranking online, but each person has different weighting in the various categories, so what a reviewer might find important, a regular customer may not (and vice versa).
Looks like a solid build better than most SUV's inside and out. The drive looks good, really smooth and no up and down vibration. The wheel base is longer and the vehicle looks wider making for less roll over than other vendors. And the Equinox EV version needs more work because it bounces you around in the back seat giving your passengers motion sickness.
They are finally stepping up their game... Let's see if in 5-10 years they are doing the same with their history of reliability issues... Then I'll jump on board.
Well said. I'd tempter expectations with a turbo 1.5L putting out 203lb torque. That's quite a bit of boost from this small displacement engine. Typical Chevy/GM. Good performance, poor reliability.
@@James-il3tq GM is good at producing perpetual payment machine vehicles that last not too much longer past the warranty so I gather this over stressed 1.5L will be the same. I had a 2022 Fleet Equinox, had to give it back, seat was terrible gave me back pain. Most taller bigger people had same issue. @rudfil that gap closes a lot when you add in the GMC and BUICK versions. Honda and Toyota only have one model in this category, GM has three.
Weird thumbnail
Why don't you mention the vehicle weight? If you know everything about cars, these cars too heavy for the 1.5 turbo engines. You will have engine and transmission problem sooner or later. These cars are too heavy. Of course you honest, just forget to mentioned this important fact. Hmmmmmmm
If they mention about the little turbo engines in these cars they should also mention the tiny turbo V-6's they put in the full-size pickups such as the Tundra and the F-150. Full size trucks should always have a Duramax , Powerstroke, or Cummins.
Where do you draw the line?
@@rich_svoboda They should tell it. So let me get this straight. You ok of consumers been loosing money because car review channels spelling governments propaganda and keep vital information of the products they review, and consumers loosing money because they not fully informed and coerced?
@@ferenckaposvari8337 I'm really trying to decipher what you just said. I think I agree with you about the more 'useful' information we get from car reviewers, the better. There's definitely a balance for a 'reviewer' to consider regarding info... too little info makes for a useless review and too much info can make for a dry and boring video.
@@rich_svoboda Always Everything ALL ABOUT MONEY IS IT??????? But who cares? Not their money. But let me give you a name. Scotty Kilmer. Mechanic for over 50 years. He reviews cars and fully inform consumers and he always telling the truth. How do I know? He has 6.47 million subs. You decide. Who do trust, 350K subs, or 6.47 million subs. So what you saying ( too much info can make for a dry and boring video. ) is not true.
@@ferenckaposvari8337 Scotty Kilmer is your typical Boomer, a hippie from 60's. Like any Boomer, I take what they say with a grain of salt.
Joe Biden has more follerers on Twitter(X) than Scotty has on UA-cam, does that make Joe's statements more true? LOL,... I didn't think so.
No. Chevrolet miss the mark by keeping the 1.5 from the previous generation. The cargo space is near the bottom of every competitor. 😊
Chevy makes a Tahoe if you need more cargo space. LOL
@@rich_svoboda Or that Traverse is now a tempting offer too.
Thanks for your time and presentation guys,But honestly the Chevrolet company they are falling badly in this business ,overall the bad economy for people ,not that much affordable for the payment, and look at the price of the gas and how much consuming ?this is not gonna work
Tiny engine with turbo, let the troubles and recalls begin!
I like the Chevrolet Equinox EV better. This looks tired and feels outdated and soon to be dropped in the Chevy line up.
Awful warranty.... Kia/Hyundai all day!
