    Great video. Well thought out and using what works for you. I always enjoy watching gear load outs. Always thought provoking. I don’t have to portage so my containers are a bit different. I use a NRS Boulder Box for my camp kitchen because I like a wannigan/chuck box style for practical reasons. I am trying out a 30L barrel for my camp gear this year instead of a dry bag. Looking forward to Part 2!

      Hey I appreciate your feedback! Thank you kindly. Not having to portage makes me mildly jealous, but then, portaging brings me to places less travelled - a trade off :) paddle on!

    Thanks for the video. I also like to take just my food barrel and my large dry sack. I try to keep it as simple as possible. I do sometimes carry a small camera case as just like you I film all my trips. Thanks for showing us your gear!

    Fantastic job! Would love to see the camp setup, perhaps that is what you have in part 2.

    In reach and other satellite systems, you can purchase a single month service. You also get text ability, weather reports, and emergency fire warnings. If you have ever been on a trip when a fire was in the area its a little nerve racking, especially for those at home wondering if your safe. Also allows you to text an outfitter who can fly in and save you rather than having a full search and rescue team come out for you. And finally, it provides GPS as a back up navigation to maps.

      I did confirm the 30-day commitment with In Reach plans so yes, that is a great thing! I don't remember seeing that when I did my initial research. I'm pretty sure a short timeframe like 1 month (which makes sense for about 85% of the adventuring public) was not available - not enough profit for Garmin. :0 Thanks for pointing that out.

      @@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904 I think it was last year they (Garmin) made the announcement about monthly subscriptions. Once Garmin did all the others followed suit. I was also looking at the personal locator beacons, but felt they were cost inhibitive, same with a sat phone. I did use a PLB years ago on a solo trip on the north coast of Baffin Island, but I was also working for Nunavut tourism and trying to implement safety policies that made it mandatory for everyone doing any trips in Nunavut so thought it would be hypocritical if I did not use one. I am also a fan of the MSR Mini works water filter, but I do also use a Platypus Gravity filter. Its a combination I find effective. The mini works is perfect for on the go and the gravity is perfect for at the camp site when I need more water for cooking and washing.

      A yearly subscription and then available monthly. Cost depending on services required

    Nice video, a saw should always be kept handy especially if you are using a kneeling thwart. Just Incase of entrapments on the water.

    What about water? Filtration system or bring it with you?

      Excellent question. I deal with that and many other items in part 2 - coming online November 29 same channel, same time of day! Thanks for watching! (spoiler alert! I use a pump action filter that is smaller and I think more convenient than a gravity style filter).

    Fanny pack.
    I’m guessing Fanny means something different in the US/Canada

    • @ruggedoutdoorsguide9904
      @ruggedoutdoorsguide9904  Рік тому +2

      Indeed! A fanny pack is not anything related to a butt/arse/back end, rear, etc. A fanny pack is just a pouch that fits around your waist with a belt and can hold something like a wallet or cell phone! :) Great question - thanks for watching!

      @@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904 ah in the UK we call them bum bags 😂.
      I won’t tell you what a fanny is in the UK 😂

      Yes, I see that fanny refers to the female #$%^ in the U.K. but "bum bags" are not a lot better right? Bags on my bum? It doesn't paint a pretty picture :) Fun with language eh?

    Lol Jesus came in you and now you're saved?

    • @ruggedoutdoorsguide9904
      @ruggedoutdoorsguide9904  3 місяці тому +1

      No, Jesus doesn't "come in you". The Holy Spirit convicts of sin. The Bible says if you "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved". That is to say, you believe He is God's son, raised from the dead and that His death was a propitiation (satisfying sacrifice) for your sin and you repent of your sin (though you will continue to sin but you are grieved by it), you will be saved. Thanks for asking!
