One reason I love and respect you Dir is because of your ability to appreciate that future of DeFi is multi-chain. Although both Defiant and Bankless stand for the same ideals (in vision and name), Defiant can and do look beyond one-chain-to-rule-them-all ideology, yet Bankless remain chained by their maxi views. Thanks for the great content!
Multi-chain DeFi just looks like a nightmare waiting to happen from a technical architecture perspective. You lose composability fairly quickly and all the "bridges" could become easy attack vectors. I'm an Etherean to the core but don't think its blockchain tech is the reason why its succesfull (something a lot of new people really don't understand). It's trust. People trust Ethereum more than any other blockchain. Especially those who are responsible for the lion share of the on-chain economic activity. Additionally, if you do believe tech superiority is the driving force behind market share capture, what makes you think Ethereum core developers aren''t just waiting for all this "killers" to battle-test their tech and then apply it to their own stack? But that's only my 2 satoshis. No one knows what the future will bring but I'm fairly optimistic we'll figure it out.
@@JayFox123 neither Bitcoin or eth is necessarily the fastest or most sophisticated, yet they are the most widely adopted and utilized. You made a good point about trust

Thank you for the deep dive… from pure development perspective, given Rust popularity and admiration in the developers community, it is easy to assume it is way easier to be adopted than Solidity for new joiners.
Naturally was my first thought.I'ma dev myself and all devs(even if they don't Rust) know Rust Values. If they don't if they read the rustbook they will be blown away phahaha.Nonetheless that brings the scary part if shady shits happen those contracts won't be portable(should be rewriten),since many founders are scared Rust has a big learning they give it a second thought. That being said since asynchronous operations with multhritread,Futures etc etc etc should be memory correct so let it be Rust. It's just the safest bet we know as of today.
What can I say that is a brilliant video. I love the deep dive and quantifying Sol compared to the others. And you introduced me to the maximalist debate and I will always be on your side of it...it just matches life; there isn’t just one bush in the forest.
Robin, your conclusion spoke to me on many levels. I've been saying similar things to various friends and sometimes when I see maximalist comments on twitter I just want us all to get along, have an open mind and appreciate that good can come of other protocols. Huge fan of your work - you are truly one of the guys who gets it. One of these days would love to have a chat with you on some of these topics. Keep up the great work!
Awesome video! Only thing that comes to my mind is what if, for the Elrond validators list, the wallet addresses that have the Elrond logo are just validators that don't have a profile picture, and the Elrond website just pastes their logo over it as a default cover photo? Just a thought
Your stand against maximalism is laudable. Maximalism and reductionism waste so many good brains by trapping them in their pigeon holes. Keep up the good work!
Time and money will go where it's treated best, which is why people become maximalists. Which is why I became a born again SOL maximalist this week, lol... Multichain is great and chains will come and go. If you want to build and get things done, at some point you have to commit to something. Only so many hours in the day and tokens in the wallet. And values are important, we use them to create the future we want.
Great episode!! Great knowledge on scaling and sharding. Do you see any bottle necks in the future of solana scaling if the blockchain does not use sharding?

You should look a little deeper on Elrond's validator nodes. The Elrond team only run 1000 of the 3200 nodes, and those are gradually being phased out. All those other nodes you identified belong to individuals who simply haven't named their validator or given it a profile pic, so it's set to the default. I know you're sponsored by Solana, but it seems your research on the other chains is a little sloppy... Totally agree with your bit at the end against maximalism though, and I'm definitely looking more into Solana!
Thanks for the spot, but calling out all my research as sloppy maybe a little far. If the elrond team can send me exact details of how many of the nodes they run themselves I’d be happy to post a follow up.
@@TheDefiant thanks so much for replying! You're right, 'sloppy' was a bit harsh, and it can't be easy to get the right info every time. I enjoy how well researched your videos are usually! Would be really cool to see a video on the Maiar Exchange once that launches on Elrond later in the month!
Maximalism is just a Blockchain word for prejudice. Everyone should have a preference based on the information they have. But to presume any future information is going to be invalid or inconsequential is prejudice. All information should be accepted equally from all sources and then you can decide whether it’s of value or not.

It looks great, though i went into the discord and asked what they plan to do with the other half of the tokens and literally no-one knew. It's concerning that people don't research that sort of thing before investing.
Great research on node numbers there. I stand with you on your open-minded attitude about differing blockchain ecosystems. Open-mindedness is adaptive and smart, but I think it is also more humane because its less tribal.

Hello, beginner here. Thank you so much for the informative content!! I have one question. Why is node concentration a measure for de/centralisation? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't each of the mentioned blockchains provide a guide on how anyone anywhere can be a node operator?
If you have too many nodes concentrated in one area geographically then they can all be taken out by the same black swan event. It could be a power outage like we saw in China, or it could be regulatory. The very simple idea is to avoid having a single point of failure. The more decentralised a network, by pretty much every measure you can throw at it, the better it is for censorship resistance and byzantine fault tolerance and just surviving the loss of a big chunk of its hash power
@@TheDefiant Gotcha 👌 .. and the blockchain project does not choose that the nodes be concentrated at a specific location, they just happen to be that way, correct? -excluding cases like Elrond-
