      Tom Welling is the only Superman/Clark Kent actor that did a better job than Christopher Reeve when it comes to the drastic personality difference between Clark and Superman (speaking specifically to the end of Smallville, when he actually decided to ‘make Clark Kent the disguise’). As much as I like this movie and this Superman, Henry does not make this drastic change nearly as well.

      The material is dense enough to do it. Superman is just a human who gets energy from light but can also eat food. On krypton supermans is just a regular human but on earth because of the less severe conditions he's much stronger. Mainly due to gravity the stronger the planets gravity the stronger everything is materials ground even people. Earth has much softer gravity then krypton. But at the same time earth is about 60 kg of force gravity wise if we went on a planet much weaker say 20kg we would be like superman. All the material on that planet would be softer too doubtful anything there could cut a human bare a few things I guess.

    I love when Clark is burrowing through the ice using his heat vision. He hasn’t figured out how to focus the heat into concentrated beams of intense solar energy, but the heat that can be generated from his eyes can at least be focused in a general direction and controlled. It shows that Clark is already fully aware of what the capabilities of his powers are at his current level. He hasn’t figured out how to fly yet, but he knows he has insane strength, and his powers are only growing stronger as he gets older. It’s an excellent method of showing character development and power progression.

    • @zhengyingli
      @zhengyingli 2 роки тому +20

      You're right about the power progression. We see in Man of Steel that the tiniest rubble is able to make Superman crash but in BvS, he's able to continue flying after ramming a drone. The attention to detail in these films is amazing.

    • @nateborie6329
      @nateborie6329 2 роки тому +18

      @@zhengyingli The power difference in BvS vs MoS can be attributed to the fact that there’s a two year time difference between the films. And in that time, Clark has learned to control his flying and the correct amount of output necessary to generate his heat vision beams. However, in BvS, he didn’t learn how to use his freeze breath, which is what made that effortless technique in ZSJL so epic, because he just does it. Not sure if it comes from just pure instinct or something else.

    • @zhengyingli
      @zhengyingli 2 роки тому +10

      @@nateborie6329 I wonder if Clark has known freeze breath all along but never had any practical use of it until that moment.

    • @nateborie6329
      @nateborie6329 2 роки тому +10

      @@zhengyingli That would make a lot of sense, but if that were the case, we would’ve seen either some small use of it, like a frozen beer bottle after breathing on it or some small accidental misuse of it. A part of me thinks it was just instinctive, like Clark wasn’t aware that it existed, but his body just knew. Kind of like how a Saiyan is just instinctively drawn to the thrill of combat.

    The scary thing is, Superman didn’t even use his full heat vision, as you saw that no beams emitted from his eyes. He merely heated up his eyes and simply looked at her, and it caused her unbearable pain. Imagine that, only using 1/10 of your power, and it’s practically torture to a normal person. Jesus, it would make for a good interrogation method.

      Superman is a scary sucker, I'm glad he's on our side. Superman can hear your fingers typing and see the wireless waves of your Internet when you talk shit about him in the UA-cam comments. Considering that between his perfect photographical memory and all the beatins he's taken for our sake, Big Blue is an expert on atrocity rivalling the greatest professors of pain on Apokolips. If you've ever seen what he done to Manchester Black that one time, the dude is HARDCORE when he wants to be. The dude can track individual nerve impulses as they dance in your fragile Terran flesh, if he wanted to he could use that trick of focusing his heat vision and X-ray vision to paralyze all your motor nerves but leave all your pain receptors intact, for a start. Then he'd get really nasty and you couldn't even scream about it. Or just take away your telekinesis for a half hour if he's feeling gentle. Good thing he feels gentle every single day.

    1:16 One of the things I love about Hans Zimmer and the movie in general... is the way he reuses themes and leitmotifs. This scene contains the same melody used later when he saves her from Zod's ship. That little thing alone elevates the movie for me, as Hans is able to take a theme and make it work on so many levels with different compositions. This trend is continued on BvS if I'm not mistaken.

    Very subtle but if it was intentional, my props to Snyder. Notice that while that ship and everything in it is all that's left of his homeworld and represents his lost heritage, he grabbed the drone and crushed it without hesitation to rescue a human being who he didn't even know up until that point. It's a subtle way of showing his character and who he is. Doesn't matter if it's a piece of his homeworld or heritage. Saving people will always be first priority to him.

He often seems in the trenches a bit too much, always going through it. I know Snyder's plan was by the end of Justice League 3 to have Supes be the Man of Steel we all know and love but it would have been nice to see a bit more of this instead of him being *so* lost across the first two movies at pretty much every turn.
