I used to be a big fan of our touring car racing but these days I just can't be bothered watching two American brands going around trying to pretend it's Australian car racing.
Me too mate. I lost interest once ford dropped the falcon
Used to be a BBQ at someone's house, backyard cricket and a TV setup outside with the race going, but don't know many that watch it these days, me included
Me too.
Agree, it took a huge dive since Merc, Volvo and Nissan left.
I moved on to WEC and IMSA.
I'll have a look, when Toyota comes in.
I personally much preferred the production car series back in the day.
I'm definitely an outsider looking in when you're talking about motorsports apart from "the guy who goes fast wins", but I will say the australian endurance races always made more sense to me, long challenging races that test everything from the quality of the components of the car to the endurance of the drivers, as well as moment-to-moment driving skill.
After all, it's not always the fastest car that wins Bathurst, it's the fastest car to actually make it to the finish line, and there are zero guarantees of getting there.
The Holden Ford rivalry started in the second half of the 1960s.
Heel toe was vanGizzers advantage in the first Chicago race.
@PaulA-bv1rt that and being so close to walls. Just like being at Adelaide or the gold coast really
General Motors (GM) bought Holden in 1931. The two companies merged to form General Motors-Holden's Ltd (GM-H).
Explanation
Holden was founded in 1856 as a saddlery in Adelaide, South Australia.
In 1908, Holden began making vehicle upholstery.
In 1917, Holden started making car bodies for imported Chevrolet chassis.
In 1924, GM signed a contract with Holden to manufacture local bodies exclusively for its cars.
In 1931, GM purchased Holden and merged it with General Motors (Australia) Pty Ltd.
In 2013, Holden announced it would be pulling out of Australia entirely by 2017.
Not true ❤
Try researching first. The first cars built were Vauxhalls. Holden didn’t pull out of Australia, they went broke. Nobody bought the rebadged Vauxhall as a commodore. FACTS❤
General Motors (GM) owns Holden. GM is a US-based company.
Explanation
In 1931, Holden became a subsidiary of GM and was renamed General Motors-Holden's Ltd.
In 1998, the company was renamed Holden Ltd.
In 2005, the company was renamed GM Holden Ltd.
In 2013, GM announced that it would stop producing cars in Australia and import them from overseas.
In late 2017, Holden stopped producing cars in Australia.
GM decided to stop producing cars in Australia due to a number of factors, including: High manufacturing costs, A strong Australian currency, A small domestic market, and GM's decision to retreat from right-hand drive markets.
V8 Supercars have been my childhood to this present day
Since ford and Holden went I followed
Me too
Bathurst 1000 is in October. Will be a 'wait' so you can check out the time difference between East Coast Australia and your time zone in the US. 🇦🇺
Think this is an old video reuploaded
The transaxle is a full on race box with sequential shifts, straight cut gears ( they are bloody noisy) and dog clutch gears
NASCAR and Supercars worked together with both current gen cars so that would explain why they are similar in a way
Easy question to answer the have a spool diff no limited slip so both wheels drive all the time
Guys do a reaction to the Holden Monaro 427c in the Bathurst 24hour event.
Close but no cigar for you. F2 and F3 run spec cars and drivetrains. Identical all through both series. Unless you’re driving for a reputable team, no matter how good you are as a driver you have no chance of winning 😂😂😂. I suspect your series would be the same. In SuperCars it’s either Redbull or Ford Performance. Last year for the first time in a long time it wasn’t any of them. Erebus Motorsports was the winner with Will Brown. Erebus first entered with the two Mercedes ❤
Are you aware that Driver61 has the lap record at Brands Hatch? Not just a UA-camr
Wuzzuuuuuup fellas! NASCAR absolutely does NOT have abs or traction control.
Toyota are entering v8 super cars next year with a v8 supra
It’s not fun to watch the new Camaro and mustang racing
