    There are parts of this where Austin sounds quite operatic. Weirdly, even watching this video this year, I've heard reactors comment on "the hat" and whether you should have been wearing it. And this is years after the fact! Love the arrangement and the singing of this and "O Holy Night" and your reflections on the videos.

    That song just took me to Church again! I always thought this was very cleverly constructed with the chord changes and the way much of it hung on Tim's bass line. I am so glad that you and Adam formed the roots of what would become Home Free as it was when you were all on the Sing-Off, and as it has become after you decided to move on in other directions. I also understand why they invite you to arrange songs and sit in with them on occasion. Everyone I have seen who has been a part of Home Free and who interacts with them is so multitalented that it almost overwhelms me as a former performer and singer. I hope they keep doing what they do and that you keep creating with your sister and others, and giving Home Free a shot in the arm occasionally. Great job Chris!

    It's so interesting how your mind works. I have a very basic music knowledge but when you're constructing these songs and worrying about key changes and chords it's a whole other world. I just think, yeah, that sounds pretty. Great song and great group!

    This is still one of my favorite home free songs. The arrangement is so interesting the way the chord progression goes off in unexpected directions. I really appreciate when you do reactions like this one. I really the little tidbits you add to it, and getting the back story on the creative process. Thanks Chris.

    👍👏👏👏😍 You know, you kind of remind me of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys in as he was so talented at making the arrangements for them and you are as equally talented! That’s not to say the rest of the guys aren’t as I know at least Tim and Adam have done their own arrangements on a few songs to, but for me, you’re the ‘brains’ of the arrangements, mostly! Love you all and love you solo work as well! Hats off (pun intended) to you my man! Thank you so much! 👏👏👏😍✌🏼

    How comfortable is your brother in his singing vs beat boxing role. I assume he has a very nice voice as everyone in your family is so talented. Would Adam ever want to do a solo singing spot? I know we'd all be interested in hearing that.

    I remember the hat controversy! I noticed it right away (being raised Catholic, that was frowned upon), but I had no problem with it. I had long left the Catholic Church. Plus, I knew it wasn’t during a service. This was a beautiful arrangement, Chris! I love all of the intricate chords, the layering, and especially that your brother was singing! I also am especially partial to your arrangement of “What Child Is This” with Home Free! I love those chords (can never remember when they’re major or minor. I’ve forgotten too much of music theory since high school ☺️).

    Chis - excellent breakdown - I'm just now been turned on to HF this past year and have been catching up little by little and a lot by a lot...but it is good to see the history of the group from when I began watching the Sing-Off victory (which was awesome by the way!) There's so much more to the group than just sitting back and listening to the music or even watching the video so this is very helpful to me and I imagine countless other Home Fry fans.
    I love your voice and now you're stuck with me so I can follow your trail. BTW my daughter (married with 7 kids -Geesh!! - who lives in Coon Rapids) so I'm sort of familiar with that part of Minnesota. What is it about the north with humongous families - LOL!!!
    Anyway - I'm looking forward to come along on your journey!
    Have a Blessed Merry Christmas and a COVID-Free 2021!

    Whether it was intentional or not, the division you created (3 on one side, 2 on the other) was reminiscent of congregational singing where verses of hymns are divided between men and women. It always was done during our candlelight services, and it always was done with this hymn. Sometimes, the children would be assigned their own verse, too, before the entire congregation joined in at the end. It's not only a beautiful arrangement, it's also a link to a kind of hymnody that seems less favored today. Perfect!

    Amazing reaction!! so many great singers in the world I never would have known about before youtube. I would like to introduce you to a Korean singer. She is, to many of us, the best Female Vocalist in the world. Very unknown to many still. her back story. in one's twenties, she was diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer. She survived and beat it, but she was rendered infertile as a result of the treatment. She sings of the pain she feels from never being able to have her own children. The meaning of the song and how she deliver the song.. I feel her pain, I feel her story. She is a beautiful person, inside and out with not a mean thought in her mind. You will find her to be humble and insanely talented. Listening to her songs is a catharsis experience. She will never disappoint you. So please listen to it comfortably without prejudice.
    I'd appreciate it if you could respond to sohyang`s song (All Live)

    So did you stop wearing hats in church yet?

  • @MrJdsenior
    @MrJdsenior 2 роки тому +1

    Answer's obvious, wear a hat in every church. I don't remember seeing anything in the bible about hat wearing requirements in church, BTW. Just sayin'. My opinion, rules for service music and rules for a non worship concert, two different things. Also, women wear hats in the churches I attended, all the time.
    If Christians (many of them) spent 3% as much time worrying about what matters, like the important aspects Christ actually preached like say loving your enemies, friends and neighbors, rather than utter nonsense, the world would be better place.
    Some people have little power so they grab all they can anywhere they can get it, and then stupid controversies over goofy crap that should mean absolutely nothing to any rational person ensue. Yeah argue with fellow church members every chance you get, that is certainly the role model Christ embodied! Wait, what?????
