The only reason this nest didn't get that treatment was logistics, considering the size and shape of the thing, there wouldn't be a good place for him to put it.

love how with honeybee/bumblebee nests the beekeeper makes sure to be careful to not disturb them and transport everything safely, but with yellowjackets youre just like "nah vacuum them assholes up"
@@pedrovargas2181 nope, hornets are fine. wasps eat fruits so yes, you might consider them parasites but hornets are hunters who eat wasps, flies etc. so they are fine in my book. also they are not nearly as aggressive as wasps are.
If yellow jackets ever evolve intelligence they will probably have a genetic fear of giant white beings and suction noises like humans fear the dark lol.
If any of them survived and made another nest they would absolutely remember. Hornets are that smart. Look into it. There's black hornets at my place that know I'm harmless but don't like others. It's not just my anecdote either there's science on it.
I work in pest control, and I always try to make sure the customer is far away or inside when treating yellow jackets to avoid any liability should they get stung and be severely allergic.

But that would leave the hive, larva, etc, to rot and eventually drop in the water, so removing the hive was the best option.

Despite having a Hornet in my hair I'm not afraid of Hornets or wasps. I've also accidentally kneeled on a bee and got stung, but I mean, as long as you're chill and not screaming or swatting at them then they dont have a reason to defend themselves.

They're all very much dead. In a previous video he explained that he filled the vacuum basin with soapy water, which slows down and drowns the wasps. And in case you're wondering, it's a shop vacuum that has the motor at the top.

As an electrician i come across these often, mostly in overhead services. Never this bad though, it always nothing a little killer cant fix. The attract to the heat off the wires.
If the nest goes down about 4ft, do the hornets start building from the top (near the opening) and build down or do they start at the bottom and build upward?

I think I would have covered the top with duct tape with a hole big enough for the vac to poke though and left it running for half an hour before coming back. Another good video.

They're all very much dead. In a previous video he explained that he filled the vacuum basin with soapy water, which slows down and drowns the wasps. And in case you're wondering, it's a shop vacuum that has the motor at the top.
