It's hard to believe this technology, HUD, has been out for well over 25 years. My 92 Grand Prix had it, and I currently use it on my 2008 Grand Prix GXP. Granted now the displays are multicolored, and can display more info than ever.

I know it is an old video, but is the HUD part of the base package for a Camry? Is it on the hybrid version? Which models/years of the Camry is the HUD on?

I just got a 2018 XSE with the HUD. Mine doesn’t have the nav, so the compass and nav features don’t work. I’m having trouble making the call and audio hud features work. I can’t get the audio from songs or even a call to display up there and I see no settings to change or adjust that. The manual says both of those are standard with the HUD so I’m very confused! Any advice?

Oi, So the XSE/XLE Dynamic (embedded navigation) is only available on the V6 models? If so that sucks. Some people want full navi but don't need all the ponies.
Also keep in mind it’s the first year. Toyota has a tendency to change packages and options. What I think is embedded navigation will be available on a four-cylinder model very soon. Especially because Honda does it.
I'm still a little confused. General consensus is the Entune Nav portion is...well...gawdawful in that it never seems to synch properly to the phone. They recommend the HUD version--does the XSE V6 have it BUILT-IN and not have to tether from the phone?
This might be kinda of a dumb question but to have the navigation on the heads up display you need the build in nav right we cant use it with scout gps???? please help me out
I think only if you have Navigation. Not the app the actual navigation. The bottom left the button on the dash should say MAP. I have a 2018 Hybrid with Hud that does not have the navigation.

Only thing I don't like is getting to the brightness settings. My 97 Pontiac had a HUD, two buttons on the dash by the headlight switch, up and down and brightness. This does not look like it can be adjusted while driving.
I have the xse V6 with scout GPS. The navigation does not appear nor does the turning prompts. Is there a way for it to show or is it only for embedded navigation?
The XSE V6 is a great car!!! Sad to say that the embedded navigation is the only way to have coordinates and turns show up on head up display. Thanks for watching!
I purchased a Camry XSE V6 and HUD does not display navigation. It seems that option is only available with Entune Premium package. Can I upgrade to Entune Premium? My dealer doesn't know. Does anyone here know?
Harry Mehserdjian hi there thanks for your question. No you cannot upgrade to a different version of the Entune system after you bought your car. You have to stay with what you bought when you bought it.

I don't need the V6 -- I'm a leadfoot already, plus I don't need 301 hp.....203 in the 4-cylinder is just fine for me....and I'd like to save on price and mpg....thanks for asking! Jeff
I might also go with the 2018 LE, and then just add in the audio package and blind spot monitor option. I don't really like leather seats that would be in an XLE here in NC because it's so hot and humid...cloth is fine for me :) Jeff

I’m not an engineer but wouldn’t a dedicated button for HUD display make more sense rather than fumbling through the information controls? Most all other vehicles with heads up display make it very simple to activate.
I'm actually really mad with my Toyota. I have a 1993 Camry V6 and the head gasket blew at 675,000 miles. I took it to the dealer and they told me the warranty was up. I was so mad. Plus, the car is running out of gas and I don't know how to fix it. I just purchased a brand new 2017 Hyundai Sontana. I now have 500 miles and it's been super reliable, even more than my camry. I feel like it will last me 1 million miles😍😍
HUD is one of those cool to have but doesn't really help as far as safety. Its probably make driving unsafe because you will be starring at the HUD instead of keeping your eyes on the road.
Pay careful attention to Toyota sales brochures and sales people. I was led to believe that navigation in the HUD was available in my 2018 Camry XLE hybrid. It’s NOT. Three different salespeople at three different dealerships also assured me that I could get it. To get navigation in the HUD, requires the premium stereo system. It’s not available in the 4cyl. The heads up navigation was a big selling point for me......not having to look down at the dashboard for directions. I would have had to give up miles per gallon with a 6cyl to get the feature. I wasn’t willing to do that. Disappointed.
You have to get a V6 and then you need the Navigation Package. Only way to get navigation that shows up on Head Up Display....sorry you were misinformed man.....
Miguel Angel Medina Rise Do you mean something similar to the Mazda 6? It has a screen in the gauge cluster but still has a tach. I most certaintly do not want the tachs to go and they are important if you drive a manual or if you want to switch gears in an automatic.

The 2019 Camry has Apple’s CarPlay. Does the HUD work with navigation from CarPlay or only from Toyota’s nag system?

David Austin it does. When you use the steering wheel controls to change the volume or station or preset or source you’ll see it on the hud

My 2018 didn't have the navigation options?
The 2018 Camry was available with navigation as an option but only on the v6 models
They fixed that for 2019

That one was the XLE V6. The XLE V6 and the XSE V6 both have "dynamic navigation," which is Toyota's built-in navigations! Thanks for watching! Jeff

What's the big deal about this?? I had a 98 GTP Grand Prix back in high school that a had a HUD display that I could move up and down as well.

Why has it taken Toyota this long for HUD? GM started this in the 90s!
Why not just get rid of the Tachometer in cars and have an hud display on at all times.
