Very good video. I really enjoyed that your encouraging RC pilots of all levels and also acknowledging the even you have room to improve. The earned my respect for your work doing videos. I agree the wings of the Twin Timber with awesome landing gear and even does well on floats, what's not to love about that?
Hello Jon, great video. Just a few questions, about the flap/aileron mixing, is all that by the book, or your preference? Did you replace the servos? I am new and just got an NX10 and still figuring it out. I saw some videos that experienced a warped left wing, which resulted in 42 clicks of trim. Sound unpleasant to deal with for a new plane. Lastly, what is the largest 6S battery that can be used. Thank you, Anthony
We wrote our own book on this one. The setup info at the end of the vid is the way we prefer doing it - it's more customizable and allows you to adjust the programming of the aircraft to your preferences. Servos were left stock - they're fast, powerful, and precise enough. A few guys had issues with their Super Timber. Happens to every plane at some point. The largest battery we'd recommend would be a 5000 pack, but some people have had success with 6000 batteries. The heavier the battery, the easier it is to stall while maneuvering. Keep that in mind. If you want to learn more about programming with your NX10, hop on Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and chat in the #tech-and-setup channel!
Super Timber landing bounce. At speed in full cruise the aircraft is trimmed to hold the nose up. At slower speed the aircraft drops the nose due to less lift. When landing a tail dragged simply release all elevator back pressure at the moment of tire contact and the aircraft weight will keep it glued to the runway. Timing is the key.
I've been trying to decide what plane I wanted to move up from my Carbon Cub S2 1.3m. I was looking at a couple different 2m aircraft, but this video just made up my mind. Next plane will be the Super Timber.
Hey Jon, I am at a point in my life where i only have 1 plane at a time. I currently have the TTE. After seeing this i have considered selling it and upgrading to this? Is that no brainer? Looks to be a bit more stable in the air. Would this be the one if you had to choose 1 timber? Thanks for all that you do!
If we only had one option, this one would be a stellar choice. For hovering, we prefer the Evo, but for basically everything else the Super Timber is pretty amazing.
Great vids. and i like the rating systems ,but I thought I'd ask you a question for beginners as I'm a beginner,( sadly i have a language problem living in Japan) anyway, i was wondering, How do we know when to change to another plane? Landing? take offs? Figure 8s? Loops? Rolls? When to move to a low wing? And no offence to other channels. Some seem to say "even a beginner can fly this!" And of course there is the conflict of interest, between, money, sponsors, and being true to the beginners. I fly the Xfly Glastar 1200mm which have those lovely soft air tyres. I have along flight ahead of me to get to those warbirds.LOL. Great vids and i like the scoring. Any chance of a easy of flight rating for beginners to experts. I like how you sometimes talk about trust in your vids. So true.
We can't make those calls for you, unfortunately. What airplane to fly and when is ultimately your call. We generally talk about how difficult something is to fly if a viewer watches the entire vid - it's difficult to quantify "this is beginner" or "this is advanced" because that can vary from person to person. Thanks for the feedback!
@@TwoBrosRC Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to write. Much appreciated.I'll look out for the "difficulty to fly points." That'll be helpful for sure.
Great video, I am mainly wanting to use this plane on floats….I looked through the comments but did not see what battery you thought works best in the float setup and how much time you were getting in a normal flight.
Definitely getting one as soon as I can! Maybe a stupid question; can I use the floats from the turbo timber evo? I smashed my TTE into a frozen lake, last month, and all I can reuse is the rudder and elevator(and the floats, which was not installed at the time). Was just about to reorder one, when I saw your video on the super timber today. So I’ll wait until I can get one in Norway 🎉
Uhg. the price point on these foam planes! Yet, I know I'll be buying this soon anyway. LOL. Wonder if the springs are the issue with bounce vs. the tires. Guess I'll find out. Thanks for the demo. I love my Carbon Cub. So, I'm already sure I'll love this even more.
Thank you for this review. E-flight is recomending to use the float made for the apprentice. Are these the ones you were using? How was the buoyancy for the super timber? What about the water rudder, I beleive there is no dedicated servo on these float, how easy it was to make it work from the tail wheel? Is it possible to use better float than these (I.e. with a dedicated servo)?
Floats should be linked in the description for ya. The floats work great on water, no issues whatsoever. The water rudder is not ideal and has a bit of play to it due to the linkage design, but it's otherwise perfectly fine. No idea if other floats are possible, the ones recommended are the ones we used.
Thanks for the reply! I wonder if the float for the fms super cub would interchange, would be nice to have a servo in the float and not having the red graphic on a yellow plane.
If you round up all the high wing foamys 1700-1800 mm this plane far out does them in features. The flaps, tires, lighting for starters. Plus it has a giant 45mm stator motor where others are using 35s and you can get parts. Shit i just convinced myself to buy one
We'd really appreciate the support if you could consider picking it up via one of our links! Happy to see you're onboard with the value proposition. It's been incredible to fly. Hope to see ya at Nall this weekend!
Do you have any recommendations for a dual blade prop that works well for the Super Timber? I run a dual blade on my turbo timber and i was wondering if you have experimented with a similar setup on the Super. Great videos as always! Thanks!
On my first flight using 4S battery, I was long and hot without flaps. I tried to execute a go around several feet off the ground. I did not have the power and it crashed separating the gear from the fuselage. Sent it back to Horizon and they were kind enough to replace it. I will not fly it again with 4S batteries.
It's definitely easier to fly on a 6 cell system. You've gotta be more cognizant of the power curve and angle of attack at all times on a less powerful battery.
@@TwoBrosRCAbsolutely. Thanks for that. What concerns me is that I was only a few feet off the ground. One would think that the springs on the gear would dissipate some of the energy. But the plastic separated with some of the foam from the fuselage. Yes, I could have repaired with foam safe CA or Epoxy but it would have been one ugly repair and I am not sure how stable. I have heard the gear is an issue with the Timber series. Is that true? In any case, I will certainly have to be more careful and use the flaps. Do you think slats really slow it down?
@@TwoBrosRCDo you think the slats really make STOL operations easier in addition to the use of flaps? I heard the whistle but how it affects normal flight I'm also curious about. Changes in stall characteristics? Of course on a normal aircraft, like flaps, slats are used in take offs and landings on the aircraft that have them. I have yet to see an RC aircraft with Droops!
Jon, what do you think of the Super timber vs the turbo timber evolution? I've heard very polar reviews on it. I'm very confident in my ability to fly both but I've heard the super timber has a lot slower stall speed and a somewhat violent stall (Brian Phillips had this issue and I've seen no one else have/address it) and flies heavier. That being said, the replacement parts for the super timber are essentially the same price as for the turbo timber evolution and the super timber has some very nice features like the easily removable wing m, inflatable tires, removable battery tray etc. I'm leaning towards the super timber because of the overall value but at the end of the day, I want the most fun plane to fly that can still achieve predictable, slow speed flight like the evolution. Thoughts?
The TTE has a lower stall speed between the two aircraft, but the Super Timber is more capable overall. So long as you're not putting it into an accelerated stall, you should have nothing to worry about!
Hey so I’m looking at both the super timber and the turbo timber evolution 1.5m but I just can’t decide which one to get. Would you recommend one over the other?
Hey Two brothers !!! Just wondering when your hovering it in the video is that all standard everything ? I want it to be forgiving but want to hover just once or twice. Where would you suggest the CG to be placed dor that ? Also do the surfaces allow 150 percent travel from the box with no receiver tricks? Also have you tried a 2 blade on the super yet ?
You will need to unlock the receiver to set it up for 150 travel like what we're using here. The CG we preferred was with a 3200 to 3600-class pack placed at the rear of the mounting points in the plane. Haven't tried a twin prop yet.
Bummer im no good on the computer to do that. So it wont be able to hover without those rates ? What battery and discharge do you find is best ? Alot of people are saying 6s 4000mah. Would the lighter smaller battery last 5 mins or so ? @TwoBrosRC
Hi Jon. The servos on my Super Timber seem to be just ok. If you were going to upgrade the servos on your Super Timber, what servos would you go with? Thanks!
Great and detailed review! Seems like this Timber has some improvements and new features. But what about the price? Did you consider adding the price param into your review calculation? (I mean in general, not for this model specifically) 😊
Nah, pricing is never factored into our scores. You can't really quantify a price point for a model aircraft. What we might find inexpensive could be seen as hilariously out of touch by someone with less money, or vice versa. It's too opinion-based to be used for a review score in our viewpoint.
Any way I could retro fit this gear system onto my turbo timber sws? Its a bit bigger, but they brought back the stiff, hard wheels again. For the quality of the rest if the plane, I'm pretty disappointed.
Probably not. You're better off with stiff gear so you avoid prop strikes which can destroy the motor box. We did upgrade the wheels to Super Cub inflatable wheels from FMS. We'll cover that in the upcoming one year review.
I know you love the ec1500, and I was thinking that would be my next plane, but this has me rethinking that. Flight characteristics wise, which do you like better? I fly kind of like you and like some 3d/ XA capability even in a sport plane.
The EC is an awesome cargo/3D hybrid, but this is definitely a better all-round airframe in our view. The EC is incredible but it doesn't offer the same versatility that the Super Timber does. The massive wheels make a big difference. The EC can't be flown from anything but short grass, dirt, and pavement, while the ST can fly almost anywhere.
How would you compare it with the Balsa Timber Sws? Would be an interesting comparison between those two since this one is half the price of the sws and easier to put together.
There's no real comparison between them since the SWS generally flies "better" because it's got a bigger wingspan. They each have unique flight characteristics.
Excellent review as always, Jon! I've always preferred the ol' poodle-nose over the anteater version. Gotta get one of these after I maiden my 2m Draco & 1.5m Twin Beech! 😁
I'm gonna have to agree, I dont mind yellow! The only timber I've owned was a night timber X, aside from some major servo issues (all wing servos failed over time) it was fun.
TTE doesn't take the Twin wings, and Super won't take them either. The wing connection is too different. You'd have to mod them in, but it'd be hilarious 😂

Depends on what you want to do. The best place to ask is Discord via discord.gg/twobrosrc
Pre ordered👍 almost bought the night timber X😭 lucky i saw this on my feed🙏
If you got it from our links, huge thanks! If you didn't, still happy for ya either way. Hop into Discord and let us know what you think of it!
@TwoBrosRC
It probably will, we just prefer full throws. 3200 class packs are what we preferred. Flight time depends on how you fly.
Hello, I wonder how does this Timber compare with the FMS 1700 Cub you've recently reviewed ? Better value overall ?
The Cub is much less capable overall, but is significantly less expensive.
hello, can you please measure the deflection of the elevator with small flaps and the deflection of the elevator with large flaps, thank you.
Sorry, can't do that. It's easier for you to test flap settings yourself and see what works for you.
It has been 4 days and I feel like we need another Super Timber video. Maybe compare it with the other Timbers.
In the future you'll see more of it!
Hi Jon. The servos on my Super Timber seem to be just ok. If you were going to upgrade the servos on your Super Timber, what servos would you go with? Thanks!
We'd use AGFRC B11DLS servos via tinyurl.com/B11DLS - the same ones we recommend for most 9g applications.
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks Jon. You are a valuable resource for the RC community.
What kind of inflator is required for the tires? "Basketball" pin-type???
Yup. The plane comes with one.
Could rc shock absorbers be used to replace the springs? Thinking that would reduce the bounce.
Possibly.
@@TwoBrosRC got it :)
Got mine coming!!!
I have a timber x, I can barely do 3D, it’s fun 😊
You can definitely learn though.
You'll love it.
Yellow is a good color for an R/C plane.it’s easier to see
Another timber let's goooooo
Wish the Turbo Timber Evo gear retrofit kit included 4.25” lightweight inflatable wheels.
It wouldn't benefit from them as much given the weight difference being heavier on a smaller wingspan.
So its a big timber x with inflatible wheels basiclly?
A Timber X with bigger wings and wider chord so it flies way better.
I do like this one!
I'm gonna have to agree, I dont mind yellow! The only timber I've owned was a night timber X, aside from some major servo issues (all wing servos failed over time) it was fun.
This super timber or the 2.0m SWS??? Which one if u could have only one??
Fortunately that isn't a choice we've gotta make!
Hey John, how much better could it get with a 2 blade prop?? Like the evo being much better on the 2blade vs 3…
It could be somewhat more efficient on a two blade prop for sure.
ah figures, do you happen to know when it’s supposed to ship out?
Being that the Stance is rather High, How is the ground handling in a breese?
Aileron into the wind and you won't have any issues. We were flying ours at Nall on Friday and it handled 40 MPH gusts on the ground.
You gotta land it like a warbird. No flare. Just control speed of decent
We didn't have issues landing it lol
❤️🔥❤️🔥
What radio is shown there at the end of the video?
IX20SE: bit.ly/3BI3eBD
They need a 60cc size with turbo prop
that thing is HOT
can i switch between full spin ailerons and as3x + safe while flying or is this not possible ?
AS3X and SAFE can be switched between. Full span ailerons can be disabled or enabled as you desire.
ok and landing flaps are also possible or not because i give away one channel because i have 2 flaps ? 🤔
You're better off asking these questions on Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord so you can get help from our community!
Will the tires fit on the arrows bigfoot
Maybe? It's not somethin we immediately attempted.
Is this a direct replacement for the evo?
Nah, the Evo will continue to be sold still.
@@TwoBrosRC but its the super timber a direct replacement for the turbo timber?
When does it ship out?
Within the month.
1135 ohboy, it makes a noise.!!!
??
does the turbo timber evolution or super timber accept the wings of a twin timber???? that's the real question! three motors would be hilarious.
TTE doesn't take the Twin wings, and Super won't take them either. The wing connection is too different. You'd have to mod them in, but it'd be hilarious 😂
@@TwoBrosRC I thank you for trying! It tortured me to the point I almost justified surprising my wife with another plane 😬
And I just bought a timber evo…
I wish they would use this technology and construction on a decent airplane.
This is a decent airplane.
What floats did you use on it
Apprentice Size 15 floats: alnk.to/3clIUsk
Sorry about not including it earlier, we always forget something when rushing to get a video done in time for a pre-release announcement.
@@TwoBrosRC awesome review, love watching
Does this have SAFE technology???
All bind & fly aircraft do.
I’m here to make a prediction. Next timber will be the super timber evolution.
Hook it to our veins!
So do they say when this will be available? I hate the stupid pReOrDeR BS. Last time I pre ordered something, it took 7 months for them to tell me they cancelled my order
It should be shipping within the month, that would be our guess.
For no bouncing Wheel landings. Let go of the elevator as it touches.
🆗
What’s the discord link? Discord says it’s expired.
It should work, but try this one: discord.com/invite/aVqhtqV5ca
The softer the wheel, the bigger the bounce ...
🛞
Tires are filled up with air to much. Soften them up and no bounce. Same with FMS Super Cub 1.3m. Soft for pavement, a little firmer for grass.
HH recommends more air for pavement which is why we had ours inflated there. Good tip though.
Wheels are a big problem. Lot of bouncing. Replace with Dubrow light.
Definitely disagree that they're a problem - if you deflate them significantly, they won't bounce.
Pls do rolling harrier in picasimfree pls.everyour pls like to Let him see this comment.
Plssssss😢😢😢.
I can't do it in picaSim free I not do in real live because I don't have rc plane😢😢.
We've done them in tutorials before. Check it out on our video backlog.
After watching that video,I didn't understand.😢
Pls do it in picaSim Free game.😢
Soul Plane?? Get out 🤣🤣🤣🤣👊🏿
i crashed it LOL
Uh, how?
🥱
Sorry it bored you.
@@TwoBrosRC It wasn't your flying , it's just another Timber
Video or it didn't happen 🤪
Uh what
Doing a bunch of stupid rolls is just stupid.
Sorry that triggers you.
I love rolls, infact that's all I do is never ending rolls rolls fur days battery after battery just spiny rolls to the left and the right roll .....roll.......roll........roll..... Did I mention I love rolls?
I love rolls too, especially Logan's rolls, but Golden Corral has decent ones too
Roll out of this chat
So how much will this cost batteries and transmitter all in
We definitely don't recommend this as your first airframe. Try an AeroScout instead - you'll save a lot of money.
